Brian Anderson takes over Northwestern Baseball Program on interim basis
NU has interest in head coaching candidates with ties to the school, including former New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies manager Joe Girardi, former Chicago Cubs bench coach Mark Loretta and Chicago White Sox Director of Youth Baseball Mike Huff. Other names to have been floated by Morosi are White Sox assistant general manager Chris Getz, Michigan associate head coach Ben Greenspan, Pepperdine assistant Danny Worth and Washburn pitching coach Shaun Marcum. As for compiling a new staff in August, a source close to the team deemed the decision not to hire Anderson a “joke,” adding, “Admin is just tying one arm behind our backs and hoping we can be successful.”

Burger To Marlins
Well, we might have done ONE thing better than the Brewers. Thought Hiura would have been a perfect change of scenery guy to come over from MIL since he's buried now over there. The defense would certainly fit in as well.

Comparing Lenyn Sosa with a mid first round June draft pick (ultimately decided by a consensus of MLB scouts that he was to the fourth best hitter in that group of NCAA position players, and many projected him as the very best power hitter of the group)...those are two quite different universes. Remember, this is a guy who played at Missouri State (SW Missouri State formerly) in Springfield, MO, not exactly the heart of the scouting/recruiting circuits. He received a LOT of exposure because of their knocking off Oklahoma State, Arkansas (won 2 out of 3) before being knocked off two games in a row by TCU. 1 1 JR Royce Lewis Minnesota Twins SS JSerra High School (San Juan Capistrano, CA) 1 2 JR Hunter Greene Cincinnati Reds RHP/SS Notre Dame High School (Sherman Oaks, CA) 1 3 JR MacKenzie Gore San Diego Padres LHP Whiteville High School (Whiteville, NC) 1 4 JR Brendan McKay Tampa Bay Rays LHP Louisville 1 5 JR Kyle Wright Atlanta Braves RHP Vanderbilt University 1 6 JR Austin Beck Oakland Athletics OF North Davidson High School (Lexington, NC) 1 7 JR Pavin Smith Arizona Diamondbacks 1B University of Virginia 1 8 JR Adam Haseley Philadelphia Phillies OF University of Virginia 1 9 JR Keston Hiura Milwaukee Brewers 2B UC Irvine 1 10 JR Jo Adell Los Angeles Angels OF Ballard High School (Louisville, KY) 1 11 JR Jake Burger Chicago White Sox 3B Missouri State University

n 2020, Burger participated in the CarShield Collegiate league, a collegiate summer league in O'Fallon, Missouri, because there was no minor league season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was his first time playing competitive baseball since Spring Training 2017.

https://www.sportskeeda.com/baseball/who-loredana-chevalier-accusing-wander-franco-what-know-far-identity-alleged-victim You're free to delete this...but it's already out there. In fact, there's pushback against "entrapment" essentially targeting professional athletes. Eury Perez of the Marlins was named specifically...must be some inside info from the DR.

That would require an extensive scouting network outside of the US. It's basically Paddy and KW.

Robert 2nd Team OF All-MLB season honors
https://www.mlb.com/news/all-mlb-team-award-favorites-for-2023 If he can sustain it down the stretch and keep from getting injured (again). Hopefully Grifol won't hold him out of these two Cubs' games as well. (Let's not forget he was leading Kyle Lewis for 2020 Rookie of the Year and then it just all fell apart down the stretch.) Not shockingly, no mention of Wander Franco despite heroics on walk off Friday, either.

Isn't the key point that his OPS is rising again? I mean...Bellinger will never be 2019 MVP Power Version, but he's still going to get a boatload of money in the $150-200 million range regardless. Who's to say being in a place where he's happy, feels wanted and is competing for a playoff spot every day won't even bring more out of him?

Which White Sox players other than Buehrle and Konerko were able to leave under their own terms the last 20-25 years?

KW collecting all the former first rounders again. Wikipedia has him with the Sox now. The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Swaggerty in the first round, with the tenth overall selection, of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft.[14] He signed for $4.4 million and was assigned to the West Virginia Black Bears of the Low-A New York–Penn League, with whom he was named an All-Star.[15]

"A clubhouse attendant packed Franco’s baseball gear into a team travel bag at his locker. The Rays headed to the airport immediately after the game to fly to San Francisco, where they will open a three-game series against the Giants on Monday. Arguably the best shortstop in the American League this season, Franco had been on an offensive tear the past few weeks. He has hit safely in his past seven games, including the winning home run in a walkoff victory over the Guardians Friday night at Tropicana Field. Franco was carrying a heavy workload. With backup shortstop Taylor Walls on the injured list, Franco had played in 40 straight games before sitting out Sunday." tampabaytimes.com Story corrected Rays say MLB looking into social media posts involving Wander Franco The All-Star reportedly didn't travel with team to San Francisco for its series with Giants that starts Monday Ryan Young

Literally...he is The Franchise. That $182 million extension goes into Trevor Bauer territory instantaneously if the allegations are proven. Surely MLB and the Rays would try to invalidate the contract but what an ugly mess for fans who should be enjoying another pennant race...with the MLBPU having another black eye on their hands.

Unless you consider the 3B hole filled for $29 million to Moncada...including the $5 million 2025 buyout. It's either that or Bryan Ramos.

205 MARK DIDTLER Sun, August 13, 2023 at 4:26 PM PDT ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Major League Baseball is looking into social media posts involving Rays shortstop Wander Franco, Tampa Bay said Sunday. Franco did not play in Sunday's 9-2 loss to Cleveland. “During today’s game, we were made aware of the social media posts that are circulating regarding Wander Franco," the Rays said in a statement. "We take the situation seriously and are in close contact with Major League Baseball as it conducts its due diligence.” Tampa Bay did not detail the nature of the social media posts. Osleivis Basabe started at shortstop on Sunday in the 22-year-old's major league debut. Basabe, who went 1 for 3 with a double, learned he was being brought up during his game Saturday night with Triple-A Durham. - Sunday’s promotion at Tropicana Field was the Wander Franco Snapback Hat for fans 14 and under. After the game, Rays manager Kevin Cash was asked whether there was any issue with Franco not playing other than a regular day off. Cash replied: “No.” “I’m aware of the speculation, and I’m not going to comment any further on that,” Cash said. “The day off was because (it was) a day off.”

He's one of those guys like Manuel Torborg Renteria really good with young teams but I'm not sure he's the "final step" guy. Of course, the White Sox aren't anywhere close to being a WS contender any more.

8/13 White Sox vs Brewers, 1:10 PM CT
It's like they are deliberately trying to make themselves even more unpopular to see what they can actually get away with...how far they can push it, like a certain boast of being able to shoot someone in broad daylight at the corner of 5th & Broadway.

If any of that is actually true...probably the end of the Rays in Tampa.
