Andrus to the Sox, expected to play 2B, 1 yr, $3 mil

"Seemed like he hustled and tried and hit OK." Send to Brooks Boyer and the White Sox marketing team for their 2023 tagline. -
Confused him with Dave Wilder/Luis Silverio Scandal speedy outfielder Anderson Gomes for a second.

Available in fantasy drafts in the same neighborhood as Oscar Colas...well, I guess Rodriguez turning into a superstar kind of made up for it with those M's. (The state of Wisconsin baseball, maybe not so much.) -

Bread and water for everyone! They don't call it The (Prison) Cell for no reason. -
https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/cardinals-righthander-ryan-loutos-discusses-unique-path-to-pro-baseball/ White Sox need to do more "thinking outside the box" things like this... A computer science major, the Cardinals coveted Loutos as much for his potential fit as a front office candidate as they did for his skill as a baseball player. The organization quickly put him to work, collaborating with the analytics department to build player reports and interfaces. Headed to the Arizona Fall League after the completion of Memphis’ season, Loutos sat down and spoke with Baseball America about his journey from a Division III nondrafted free agent to a Triple-A reliever moonlighting in his free time as a front office staffer. This conversation was lightly edited for clarity:

Stockholm Syndrome. The money will be spent. Personally, would have preferred Villar or Odor, simply based on the chances of Sox "lightning in a bottle" over performers repeating that fluke success twice are slim and none. Kind of having the same feeling about Hamilton repeating his same impact from 2 seasons ago, if he were to make the team over Marisnick. The craziest thing is that Leury's grand slam in the playoffs ended up securing an $18 million (lifetime security) contract from Hahn...that's going to be financially hamstringing the front office for 2023/24. -

Hamilton/Andrus/Marisnick >>> Leury Garcia Burger definitely is looking more and more likely to be headed for the minors (again). We'll have to wait and see how it goes with Sheets/Colas. -

That will 2000 hit milestone will result in an 86 person attendance bump...maybe! Let's start counting Andrus jerseys in the park starting in ST and see if we can get up to that number by the end of his time with the Sox... -

Well, that and you HAVE to showcase Anderson at his natural position if you're actually planning to trade him in the next 17 months. -

Until you add up all those similar bad contracts like Leury or Kelly and suddenly can't add much to payroll except castoffs. Pretty telling nobody was willing to give him a more generous deal coming off the 2nd half of last season...but at least we should have guaranteed stronger INF defense, overall. -
Never going to eat any money on that deal until 2024.

Watch he records a -0.6 fWAR after losing his hitting coaches from last year. -

Remillard/Sosa/Romy fluff piece threat clipped $1-2 million off that deal...lol. -
Only excuse is Bulls and Blackhawks? No sponsors left to sell advertising to...to offset production costs? Who exactly watches their non-live programming? Sigh.

Mike Clevinger under investigation for domestic violence
caulfield12 replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hahn and JR would fire him AND Martin would be the fifth starter until an injury...which would put who exactly but into the rotation? Lopez? Union grievance as well. -
Wasn't that the whole point of Leury? If they had one of these types of players ready for the big leagues...it would have saved almost $20 million. Mendick was sort of that player, in a way. Not sure how confident about him playing all the OF spots before the injury, though. Still prefer Hamilton's leadership and energy to Marisnick at this point in their respective careers. Toss up. Probably Hamilton can't recapture that last hurrah again.

They're wise to be careful about any deal well into mid to late 30's. Signing Soto to that deal at his age would likely lead to better results...although he actually had one of his worst seasons in 2022. Might be better off letting the season play out first. And then there's the uncertainty overhanging how much of their $50ish million RSN deal they actually see and WHEN. -
Mike Clevinger under investigation for domestic violence
caulfield12 replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
And in Clevinger’s case, the team didn’t realize Clevinger had also broken protocol until they had already flown back to Cleveland. It was a terrible look for both players, especially when the Cardinals are still dealing with a team-wide outbreak. You’d think other players would take it more seriously. But on Thursday, Plesac posted a long Instagram video to tell his side of the story. In doing so, he blamed the media for how he and Clevinger had been portrayed. Nick — the son of Indians manager Terry Francona — took to Twitter on Thursday and shared the six-plus minute video, telling Plesac to “shut the (expletive) up until he can demonstrate he isn’t an oxygen thief.” -

https://ftw.usatoday.com/2020/08/zach-plesac-terry-francona-son-nick-covid-protocol-rant-video-response Maybe if your father's life at that time was put at direct risk you might not think it was so humorous??? -
Career .706 hitter in the minors. What could go possibly wrong? If he was a Cardinals’ prospect at age 28, would expect RoY votes at the end of the season…we’ve probably sold 50-100 season tickets (equal number of refund requests) since the Clevinger debacle went public.

Still, the context of that moment in time matters...it was a huge deal to Francona and all their teammates. -
https://sports.yahoo.com/2023-fantasy-baseball-rankings-top-300-players-for-drafts-205934167.html Robert, Cease, Jimenez, TA7, Giolito, Vaughn, Lynn Rodon 41st, just ahead of Cease at 43. Robert still hanging onto his extremely high potential tag at 36. Benintendi, Liam, Moncada, Grandal, Graveman, Kopech and Colas (313) get votes as well.

More compelling scripts for Sox ticket agents to push...well, he's our a--hole now, so might as well just go ahead and support Sunshine since we're basically stuck with him anyway.
