Official 2008-2009 College Basketball Thread

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 02:06 AM) That is a very good point on the SIU, I forgot. Do you understand some of the crap teams that Kansas plays during non conference. I am actually surprised Coach Jank does not schedule with his mentor. That is why no one will play ISU. They can play all the crap teams they want with no fear of looking bad. They can play those teams and it still looks the same on paper as an ISU, but without the small chance of being beaten. Teams like SIU and Creighton don't have that problem as beating those two schools always looks like a good win and losing does not look as bad as against an ISU. It is all about appearances. -

We did beat SIU twice last year. Plus I doubt any big boys were looking to play us. There is nothing in it for the BCS schools to play an ISU. -

Rex, If Evansville would like to beat UNC and then lose to ISU, I'd be a very happy man. -
I've never been to an eye doctor in my life. I do well at the DMV though.

That was awesome!

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 08:44 PM) Dillard and Carlton Fay are the future of that program, and I really think they'll both be fantastic players. I really don't think Fay is that good. A decent role player maybe. I haven't seen Dillard very much though I hear he is going to be very good. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) You weren't kidding, that is quite possibly the weakest non conference schedule ever up to this point. It's awful. UIC should be tough, then we get Mo St., Evansville, and Creighton so the tests are coming. Still glad to be unbeaten at this point. -

10-0 is still 10-0. -

ISU just squeaked out a close victory at Central Michigan. 10-0! -
Even the most bizarre names have more than one family with that name. I'd assume there would be Hitlers somewhere that aren't very closely related to him.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 03:58 PM) Are there people named Hitler? Surely Adolf was not the last. I've wondered this a million times.

I am drunk. I love Mario Kart. Also, Illinois State Basketball kicks so much ass

There is a ton of snow down here. The plowing really sucks as well.

I went with Hall of Fame. Heisman is definitely worthless. You can't get real rich off a Heisman like most of the other options either.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 02:53 PM) Any thoughts on Dexter seaosn finale yesterday? I liked it, they had a lot to fit in so I was entertained the entire time. Sets up pretty well for next season which will have to be about family man dexter.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 10:22 PM) Will the comic book movies please die? I'm with you. I'm sick of them.

The redbirds did not take him away, just got to him earlier, It also was a classy move by Osiris to honor his commitment when the Big Ten schools came calling. He's a bigger deal here than he would be at any of those schools. Even though this year Champ Oguchi might be the better player. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 07:19 AM) Well the Redbirds didn't "take him away" from Illinois, but we can pretend they did if you'd prefer. Illinois had big interest in him as well as Indiana but he honored his commitment to ISU. Illinois also made a big push to try and get him to transfer after his freshman year. -

He is. I'm glad the Redbirds took him away from the Illini. He has a good shot at the NBA. -
QUOTE (rockren @ Dec 14, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) I buy Getz and Fields at 2nd/3rd...but they won't hand CF to Owens. No way. I agree completely, I would even say that BA would get the chance before Owens. He's earned it my eyes and I think Kenny feels the same way, regardless of Ozzie.

I didn't see that Rex had posted about Evansville. They are very impressive. Looks as if they could join ISU and Creighton at the top of the MVC. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 14, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) Josh Mayo of UIC might be the 2nd best non-BCS guard in the country right now. Just an amazing shooter, he's actually been more accurate than Curry this year I believe. At the same time, it AMAZES me Georgia Tech got to a national title game under Paul Hewitt. He's a fantastic recruiter, but he couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag. He's NCAA Basketball Ron Zook. If he really is that good, I don't really follow UIC much so I don't know, then the matchup between him and Osiris Eldridge will be one hell of a battle, as Osiris is definitely one the top non BCS guards outside of Curry. SIU fans know I'm not lying. -

ISU up to 9-0! In other news, Evansville looks like they are for real this year after an impressive 32 point win over Western Kentucky. -
QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 14, 2008 -> 10:08 AM) Waaaaaaaaaaaaay False. The person below me is ambidextrous. True, in a way. I do things with both hands, lean towards left handed though. The person below me doesn't like chinese food.

Happy Birthday Marcus! Let's go out sometime around Christmas.
