  1. Bureau told me Justin Edwards may be the next Mark Buehrle in 4-5 years. Lets see how that goes. By the way, DLS went 6 IP, 2ER, 5 hits, 1 BB, 6 Ks
  2. White Sox MiLB will be harder to follow this year without Gio and DLS. I hope 2 or 3 guys step up big time this year and show themselves as prospects worthy of our excitement. I hope Lucas is one of them.
  3. Yeah he's in Charlotte, the MiLB site hasn't fully updated the rosters. Probably will in the next few days. http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/players/playerpage/1098930

    Stupid Robber

I saw this on Fox News today, you can't get dumber than this. Idiot Robber
  5. As I was taking a piss in a urinal today I started to wonder, how do others go about this? My question is, where do you prefer to aim? Straight at the wall of urinal and let it trickle down, or aim directly into the small amount of water at the bottom. Obviously there are things to take into consideration (i.e. splashback, acoustics, natural aiming direction). Your thoughts?

    Adult Ortho

So I've have a gap between my two front teeth (that's called a diastema), although it isn't Michael Strahan sized, it is larger than just a small sliver between my front teeth and is noticable. Its always bothered me for years and I really regret not getting braces when I was a kid. I'm 22 now and feel like I'm way too old to be getting braces. I guess what I'm asking is, what do you guys think when you see adults with braces? My initial reaction is usually along the lines of "ugh!" but perhaps that's just me being stupid. I've thought about doing something about the diastema but if I had to have braces for two years that would be awful. I'm already a young looking guy, so I don't need to look younger. Anyone have thoughts on adult ortho? Additionally, I have looked into lumineers, but they don't work for me considering the size of my gap.
  7. Get ready to start blocking out the sound of Mexicans flicking their stripper ads after 5PM, you'll know what I mean soon. -Madam Touso's wax museum is fun -Roller coaster on New York New York -If you want to see a show go to a half price tickets stand and get half price tickets the day of a show (go early), you can get half price dinner coupons here too -If you have $ go to any of the circe shows -Buy the all day bus ticket, it'll be easier on your feet -If you want to play blackjack but want to save money play video blackjack -There are some roller coasters/rides on top of the stratosphere -Cheap blackjack tables ($5 and sometimes $1) at Circus Circus -There is an amusement park in Circus Circus (although a bit on the kid side) -Don't pay a hundred to go see Carot Top (although I'm not speaking from any experience outside of his crap on TV) -Hans Klock is the best magician on the strip if you like that stuff (he's new and Dutch, he had Pam Anderson as an assistant when I went, I highly doubt she's still there) -The Hilton has a star trek virtual reality ride that's fun, I'm not a Star Trek fan, but I enjoyed the ride. -Bars and strip clubs are all over the place, so if you're interested you won't have trouble finding any while you're there. Although if you want something weird go to Bite, the vampire strip club, if you get into that....(I've never been) -If you're playing the slots and a waitress asks you if you want a drink it is free! (something I didn't know until after I got back from Vegas, I turned down so many free drinks without even knowing...) -I think in Ceasar's Palace there is a talking group of statues, although it's nothing too exciting, you don't get to see talking statues very often. If you've never been to Vegas just being outside and experiencing Vegas as you walk down the strip feels fun, you don't even have to be doing anything to find yourself having fun. Go inside all the hotels too, it is amazing what they've done there. You get a lot of discounts and free admission if you buy a powerpass http://info.priceline.com/Extras/attractio..._SIC.3787PP.htm It will prove worth it compared to the Vegas prices if you are interested in what the pass offers. Have fun, be careful of pick pockets, don't gamble drunk.
  8. While this thread is here, I need one more team for my league I have a 20 team yahoo PLUS rotisserie league. The live online draft is this sunday, March 16 at 7:30PM CT. PLUS league means you get stattracker and a couple extras for free. There is no required fee, although a 10 dollar donation for the league is strongly encouraged (since I paid for the league) Our league does have the expectation that you will keep up for the whole year regardless of your rank in the league. This is a league that we have everyone who keeps up with it returning every year. We do ask that you not take part in other fantasy baseball leagues in order to help keep your attention on this league. It is a lot of fun and has great guys. If anyone can commit and is interested, reply, PM me, or send me an email at [email protected]
  9. Mike Myers had the Austin Powers theme.
  10. Jimbo, don't worry it'll come eventually! Coming right out of college I was looking for a job from May 2007 to January 08 with a degree that would get me no where specific, but I finally found a position in January. The key is looking for jobs that aren't listed on sites like careerbuilder, craigslist, etc. Those site will get you no where, which I'm sure you've seen by now. You need to look up random companies and either go to their website or make cold calls asking them if they have open positions. Its frustrating but something will come. Keep your head up!
  11. To all who wondered what he would end up doing, it appears he just got a 2 year contract with the St. Louis Cardinals.
  12. Anybody hear anything on Mitsubishi Lancers?
  13. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Feb 26, 2008 -> 09:55 PM) Some would argue a Tiburon is a girls car. I would look at Civics. It would pretty much fit all your criteria. Yeah I've wondered that too. Although maybe I should stop being prideful and stop caring what people classify my car as, especially since I am by no means a car guy.
  14. I read the first few pages of this thread, but not the whole thing but I thought I'd throw a comment in. Beast, I began college with an attitude that is almost an exact replica of yours, that attitude was installed in my mind coming fresh out of high school youth group. The only difference was that I was going to a Christian school (Bethel University) where everyone signed a covenant promising not to drink while attending Bethel. As I first started school I really had a tough time respecting the individuals and decisions people made regarding alcohol and weed and I couldn't understand why it seemed like people needed to do that to have fun. Over the course of college my mindset really opened up to a more tolerant view of all parts of life in general. I began to really see others and the decisions of others from the shoes of those individuals opposed to my very biased opinion that was originally formed moreso by my protective church background than my own life experiences and thoughts. Who you are at 18 years old will be much different than who you are 4 years later. I still never had a sip of alcohol until the day after I graduated from Bethel and was no longer under the covenant I had swore to follow which prohibited alcohol, however I had a totally different view of others than when I first started school. Here's a neat example: When you were 7 years old, you had the opportunity around Halloween time to go around your neighborhood collecting candy. I bet you were absolutely pumped to do that, imagining all the delicious treats you could enjoy. Why was it so great though? Three main reasons. 1) It was new. You either never had the opportunity in life or not often did you have the opportunity, to make such glorious collections of sweets. The newness of this ritual made it all the more fun for you. 2) Halloween was a big deal. You heard about it from your friends, family, teachers, and TV about how much fun Halloween was. This naturally set the day up to be a fantastic event for you and others. 3) It felt good. The deliciousness of all those snickers bars was so awesome that it made you love Halloween more than Christmas. Amidst all the joy and celebration of Halloween you may have overlooked a young boy, we'll call him Sanjay (just to make him sound foreign and therefore different for some reason) who is just sitting at home on Halloween without a single Twix at his disposal. Why isn't our pal Sanjay trick-or-treating? Sanjay was told by his parents that Halloween is the day of evil spirits and the candy is an acceptance of those evil spirits. Lets say the day after Halloween you meet Sanjay and you talk about the day. Sanjay explains why he did not celebrate Halloween right after you tell him about all your trophy candy bars last night. You feel like he's an idiot for thinking something so ridiculous as to why Halloween is about evil spirits, and he thinks your an idiot for accepting something so wicked. In reality it is not so simple. Sanjay has predetermined beliefs about Halloween that you do not. Because you don't have those beliefs, it makes sense for you to be so excited about and partake in the day of Halloween (given the three reasons for excitement as listed 2 paragraphs above), as well as it makes sense for him to protect his beliefs about the day. Now take those three reasons and lets pour them into the college drinking reference. Why is drinking so popular on college campuses? 1) It is new. In high school drinking/weed is not nearly as common or accessible as it is in college. The newness of it makes it all the better. 2) Drinking is made out to be a big deal. You hear about it all the time from friends, family, and TV about how much fun you will have drinking at college parties. Naturally the hype makes the event more fun. 3) It feels good. Alcohol gives people the opportunity to relax and enjoy themselves much more than when they are sober, so of course this makes the drinking experience better. Now in this present day reference, you are the one who was our Indian friend Sanjay in the Halloween story. You have these beliefs that you want to hold onto despite the fun that appears to be had by others, While the individuals who choose to drink play the role you did in the Halloween story. These individuals never were given this lesson taught by parents or church, or at least they choose not to follow that lesson. More importantly, if they do not have your beliefs they will have no obligatory reason to follow the same moral guidelines as yourself. The important thing to remember is this. Not everyone is in your shoes. You and Sanjay had different mindsets going into the Halloween experience, while you and those who drink have different mindsets as well. Therefore you cannot blame a person or view them as individuals who are making bad choices when they don't have the same ideology as you. This is something you will learn much more with every passing day of life. I am happy to hear though that you have decided to refrain from something you believe is not right for you. But importantly you need to remember that not everyone is coming from the same boat as you, so you need to respect others' decisions unless they truly are hurting themselves or others (and that's something that needs to be looked at realistically). I wish you luck in your continuing life choices and growing maturity.
  15. I'm 22, out of college and now have my own full time income. I've been lucky enough to be borrowing my dad's 2nd car since I got out of school, but its getting to the time where I need to buy my own. I'm looking for a car in the $12,000 range, I can go up to $14,000 but I want to be very very happy with the vehicle to go that high. I'm looking for something that meets the following -Used Car -No older than 2003 -Gets good-decent gas milage -Sedan or Coupe -40,000 miles or less -Something that looks decent and wouldn't be stereotyped as a "girl's car" -A car that is reliable enough where I won't have to get it fixed much I was looking at a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon GT because it met the price range and looked real good, but after reading reviews I feel like that car is not all that reliable, is bad in the winter, and is made more for Asian-heighted people. Anybody have any suggestions on what to buy considering my price range and other criteria?
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 26, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) They may not have been intense alot of the times last season, but it can definately be argued that the team had a lack of leadership. Konerko is not a leader no matter what Ozzie says. The guy does not command the locker room like a team leader should. He is a quiet lead by example leader, like Thome, like Crede, etc. It has been said the most vocal leader of our 2005 championship team was Carl Everett. The additon of Cabrera who was said to be the heart and soul of the Angels and some younger energy like swish and Quentin should put a new spin on this team. Even some of the vet pen guys should lend some fire to that part of the team. I'm not disagreeing with you necessarily, but how in the world would you know that Konerko is not a leader in the locker room? We probably see about 3% of what goes on off the field.
  17. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 05:40 PM) He was a free agent??? Where have I been? He wasn't a FA, he was to make the league minimum this year but the Sox chose to give him a little more $.
  18. I hate to be a pessimist, but I've got faith in KC.
  19. At the All Star Break of '05 I wonder if Pods would have been the favorite on the team.
  20. -Aaron Poreda gets injured a month into his season at Kannapolis and is out until '09. Soxtalk members discuss his lack of "7" in his motion as Bureau described and quickly realize our '08 pick has the same problem. -2 or more of the current White Sox admit to or are caught for current or past PED. -Our offense is great despite a Jim Thome season ending injury, but our pitching is not good enough to get us in the playoffs. Konerko bounces back, Swisher becomes frustrating but great, and Pablo Ozuna does nothing to impress anyone. 85-86 wins.
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 04:03 PM) Jermaine Dye also has a full NTC for this season. If he has a NTC I can't see him excitedly saying yes and leaving his team to go to that ballpark.
  22. Juan Uribe gains another 50 pounds, goes 3 for 30 in the months of April and May with 3 HRs and 27 Ks, and eventually quits the team to open his own Chinese restaurant called "Juan-ton's".
