Are there specific statistical credentials to tell whether or not a player is an A or B player for comp picks? Or is it voted on by someone???

I really like what Vazquez did for us last season and I think he can give us a decent one next year 3.90-4.10 ERA, but I also feel like maybe if we get a decent deal it would be a good idea to sell him at this high point.

I went to school in Minnesota, so I was exposed to the local TV, and it seemed like he was constantly in the news complaining about something. Most of my friends who were Twins fans usually didn't really like him for that reason.

I would much rather keep Jerry Owens. Hunter is a huge whiner and not a team player. And most importantly, way too expensive.

I haven't heard anyone suggest that he may go to St. Louis. They are in need of some offense and Eckstein is a FA to be. Can you imagine the two best hitters in baseball back to back? Rodriguez-Pujols, yikes. Of course they would probably need additional offense so they can get someone on base to drive in. But I feel like the Cards could be a real possibility.

Thank the lord we're not signing him. No player is worth that money. The ratio of money to skill for ARod is not a fair one. If he hits about 15 more RBIs than most stars, that isn't worth an extra 10 million a year for it.

I broke the perfect score. Although I would probably rather have any AL team win it other than Boston, I personally feel that we need to continue to show that the AL is a better, stronger league than the NL. Even if that means the Red Sox have to win. Regardless of who we want to win, I'm confident it will be a Red Sox sweep.

Does anyone else feel a little bit like our world series championship was a little underrated or cut short by our own team? In '06 we made sure that the team knew and understood that '06 was a new year and we couldn't let the '05 victory be an excuse not to succeed, in theory this was a good idea, but does anyone else feel a bit like it was not given the credit it deserved? The World Series championship is the best thing in baseball and it was cool in the '05-'06 offseason how we were champions but once ST started the Sox organization treated it like we accomplished nothing. When we do this I just feel like the World Series isn't that big of a deal anymore. I'm not saying we should celebrate for 10 years afterwards, but I feel like we devalued a major accompmlishment. Did anyone else feel this way? Or do you guys think we glorified ourselves enough and were right to forget about winning the World Championship.

Japanese pitchers seem to work for about a year, but after that they usually loose their effectiveness. At least that's what I've always observed. The more the pitcher is seen, the easier he is to handle, for example Okajima was dominate in the first half of this year but after the AS break he wasn't very good. I guess I don't want a long term contract, or maybe if we did sign a Japanese pitcher we could trade him after next year.

I think Fukodome had surgery in August, so he's kind of a question mark anyways.

For those who don't want or don't think Jerry Owens is a good candidate for starting CF explain why? I'm not saying I personally think he should get the spot, I'm just curious why many don't like him, the idea of him starting seems like a common fear for some on soxtalk. A .324 OBP is not good, but considering it's his rookie year and he has had some decent minor league seasons, I'm confused why so many oppose the idea of him starting. Explain your reasoning.

Seeing how he's a national league player (AAAA), he'd only put up about 80% of his normal stats. I want some solid speed, not power.

I think because of the abundance of people who were using, it probably didn't really feel like cheating anymore to most players, but more so just trying to level the playing field.

probably at least half the white sox have used steroids at some point in their baseball careers. Especially Razor Shines who you can see the effects of him getting off them.
