Lots of people in baseball used and still use PED on every team, we just have to accept it while MLB "tries" to contain it, because the use is far too widespread to even hope it can be contained. Ask a scout, I know everyone here knows one.

Who is your favorite player currently on the Sox's MLB level team?
Marky Mark replied to Marky Mark's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah I'm surprised there isn't more Konerko love in this vote too. Maybe after a somewhat down year he has fallen to 2nd and 3rd favorite in the hearts of Sox fans. -

QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Feb 11, 2008 -> 12:43 AM) Dye (Not sure why he's not listed on the poll.) Yeah I meant to list him, I guess I forgot, cuz I'm sure a lot less people like Contreras than Dye. If anyone can edit the poll, change Contreras to Dye. -
I was watching the '05 WS DVD today and thought about how I've got a lot of man love for Mark Buehrle. Then I started wondering, is Mark Buehrle the most loved player on the White Sox? Or is he just well liked by most, but not the favorite? If this poll was made years ago I'm sure Big Frank would be the winner, but I am curious, who is the most well liked player on the Sox by their fans? Also, just out of curiosity, is there anyone on this site who sincerely does not want to see Juan Uribe off this team (for reasons other than him dousing himself in marinades at the end of the ball game.

Does anybody else in here when you go to games enjoy bringing a bag or two of peanuts and sunflower seeds in order to make a massive, unnecessary mess under your seats for the ushers to drudgingly clean up after the game?

QUOTE(bighurt4life @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 09:48 PM) I hear that Uribe likes to cover his naked body with Bar-B-Que sauce after each game, maybe that's what was bothering Josh. STOP MAKING UP LIES ABOUT JUAN URIBE! HE OBVIOUSLY WOULD NEVER DO THAT YOU INSENSITIVE TWIT, GROW UP! Because it's A1 steak sauce he covers his naked body with after every game, not BBQ.

I think this is more of an issue of dealing with the disrespect you receive as a rookie than an issue as a Christian. There is nothing he wouldn't have already experienced in the minors and college locker rooms that fall into criteria he would find offensive as a Christian. I think it is more that he is no longer on an equal playing field as his peers. He was probably pretty well respected in the minors and college by teammates/coaches, but not he's in the big leagues and people feel the need to treat him like crap just because he's a rookie (as most rookies experience). He'll be fine, this probably was swayed out of context. Whoever made the Chumbawumba joke, that was funny. EDIT: He also may have realized how many MLB players use performance enhancers too and he became pretty shocked, but then again, I think the minors may be worse.

Actually if you haven't seen Bert Blyleven announce I think you'll like his, colorful, style. http://www.nothingtoxic.com/media/11583191...wice_on_the_Air

I always enjoyed Hawk until he dropped the "s" out of his phrase "He's Gone" about 4 years ago. I hate hearing him constantly say "He Gone" like a dribbling barbaric moron. It is in large part what many have used against me as an additional point to the argument that anything related to the south side of Chicago is of low intelligence. I also hate that he constantly feeds Mariotti's publicity by complaining about him on the air. I did go to school in Minnesota though, and I did turn on the TV in the public lounge at school for the Sox because I could watch the WGN games and when the Twins fans (who usually don't know what they're talking about) sat down and watched part of it with me they would always complain and moan about how awful the Sox announcers were and how much dead air there was. Although most of the time they were taking out their hatred for the Sox on our announcers, I do have to agree with them in comparison to the Twins guys. Bert Blyleven and Bremer are much more energetic and talk a whole lot more. Before watching the Twins on TV for several years I had no idea the Sox guys had so much silence in their broadcasts but its true. However, I still feel like Hawk is the Sox for me and has been since I was young, so keep it up. I like most on here do have to say that despite our quarrels with parts of Hawk's style, it would not be the same without Harrelson. "You can put it on the board, YES!" is so classic that I just can't imagine what could replace that as the WS home run call.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 08:49 PM) I'm friends with 'White Sox' but that's it. I've actually found a lot minor leaguers from the Sox organization. John Danks has a real account also.

Is anyone else on here facebook friends with players from the Sox organization?

My fiance and I have been discussing the possibility of getting a dog in about a year. We are looking for a dog that can fit most of this criteria: 1) Will be ok in an apartment/no backyard 2) 40-70 pounds 3) Will be ok if given 4-5 walks/runs a week (1.5-2 miles per walk) 4) Very social/affectionate dog, the kind that would cuddle with my wife 5) Short-medium hair 6) Good with strangers and children 7) And this one is low on the priority list, but a dog that likes playing in the water If anyone has any suggestions on what breed to get through your own experience I'd enjoy hearing them.

We never talk about Gartrell, I feel like he's been under the Soxtalk radar quite a bit. Does anyone here think he's going to be a MLBer someday? He seems to be fairly decent.

Latest name on the steroid front? Magglio
Marky Mark replied to WilliamTell's topic in The Diamond Club
I bet half the White Sox former players used steroids. It should be expected, not surprising. Steroids are much much bigger than people think. -
Consider with this question that both will be starters to begin '08. I'm just curious because that seems to be the topic of much talk. I'm feeling more like people will say Danks but I may be wrong. Let's see.

The problem with signing Colon is, if we give him a 1 year 9 million dollar deal or whatever it was, we will probably continue to play him throughout the year as long as he's healthy even if he's awful because we don't want to waste that 9 million dollars, whereas the AAAers can be brought in and out depending on how they do because they're cheap.

I don't know, outside of the fact that their kids would probably not be normal (which may be good enough of a reason for them to not continue), I think they should accept it. When you think about it we're all related. Either Adam and Eve or the first two apes were the origin of our species. With that in mind we all started in the same spot, in the same family, so there is always a family connection between us, theirs is just a little more direct. And if they don't want to be socially shunned they can always just move to Texas. -
Over the years, who have been your least favorite Sox players and why? For me it had to be between Ron Karkovice and Joe Borchard. If he was to remain on the team longer I would have said Andy Gonzalez too, but "He Gone". It makes me mad that Borchard has the record for the longest homerun in the Cell, I wish Frank held that. Borchard was such a failure as a player. Both him and Kark were tough to look at too, they were hit pretty bad with the ugly stick as kids.

QUOTE(iamshack @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 02:55 AM) Well, back up a second...do we really believe that no one other than the director of scouting has a say in who the organization's #1 draft pick is? I have to believe there are other parties involved in that determination. Secondly, I don't think Shaeffer was fired over the Poreda pick, but rather, the general state of the farm system combined with the building pressure for someone to be "the fall guy." Third, as I said earlier, I've been given a completely opposite scouting report by what I consider a pretty solid source- one that I know has constant contact with major league scouts, including some from the Angels organization, which is one of the top systems in baseball. Just asking if there is room for differences of opinion here... Oh gosh I'm sure there was much more than just Shaeffer involved in Poreda's draft and yeah I'm sure he was canned for more than just Poreda, that being more of the final straw is what I figured. I just mentioned him and his case to say that not everyone thinks alike. I guess I'll wait to let Bureau answer this question though, I don't really know what I'm talking about.
-
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 02:29 AM) Let me ask you something Bureau....your opinion...and those of other scouts...I assume that there is room for differences of opinion? I'm just guessing that the majority of White Sox scouts disagree with your assessment given where they drafted Poreda? Now I am in no position personally to question your opinion, but I've heard from a pretty solid source that there are plenty of scouts that "love" Poreda. You see absolutely no room for that opinion/optimism? The White Sox director of scouting was fired over the Poreda pick so obviously not everyone is on the same page. I'm guessing the people who love Poreda scout the fact that he threw down a 1.17 ERA with a 9+ k/9 ratio and therefore love him, but don't recognize the same things a professional scout sees when they have the player in their own system and realize his limitations.

Yeah donating sperm is tough (not physically, but emotionally [ugh I feel lame for using that word]), not only because you may have some of your own little Rally Crede's out there that you don't know about, but also because your kids may have siblings that they don't know about too, and I don't feel like that's fair to them. But then again, how fair is it for people who can't produce good sperm to begin with? Although there are always plenty of children that need good families to adopt them, especially little girls in China.

QUOTE(wsgdf_2 @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 12:27 PM) FYI - I asked Kevin Goldstein about Poreda today... wsgdf83 (Naperthrill): I've heard bad things about Poreda's delivery - that he's an injury waiting to happen. Have you heard the same? Kevin Goldstein: Not really. It's hardly perfect, but it's not end of the world violent or anything. The more legitimate concern is wether or not his secondary stuff will come -- it's still a pretty special arm. Although what he said isn't necessarily in a completely different world than what we've been told by our in home Sox scout, The fact that Kevin Goldstein is basing his opinions off of what he hears and not what he examines with his own eyes and mind makes me think that his opinion is unimportant. The more I hear from Bureau the less I care what places like Baseball America, Project Prospect, ESPN, Etc has to say because in reality how much more information could people like that get that we can't?
