  1. Isn't it weird how "Crede's Crew" used to stand out in center field every game cheering for him before his popularity ever picked up, then when he started to get known Crede's Crew was no more.
  2. More reason to hate Boras I wonder who is more hated, Marriotti or Boras?
  3. Yeah he's done well in his brief season, ERA is just over 3, great k/9 ratio. Sox got him this year as our 5th round pick. He has a history of being a strikeout guy in his college career. Had a bit of a down year for school in '08 compared to his '06 & '07 years. No idea as to what kind of stuff he has, but apparently it can be pretty nasty if he's getting this kind of strikeout rate throughout his career. Sometimes when a guy has a good fastball in the rookie leagues they seem to get tons and tons of Ks but have the ability to get knocked around with ease in the upper levels when they don't have good secondary stuff. (I don't even know what his fastball is at or what kind of movement it has, that's just a statement about rookie leagues). We'll see how Kannapolis treats him next season. Great Falls is fairly elementary, so you don't want to get too excited too early, however he should be on your radar.
  4. This will be the beginning of many future ad ons to the use of instant replay in baseball. No way it will be just home runs forever.
  5. The twins fanbase is very very very small. It is a much bigger Vickings town in the TC than Twins. I wouldn't expect much out of them in terms of realistic knowledge.
  6. If this was a contest, Balta would have definitely been the winner.
  7. If you watch the Red Sox one you'll enjoy the Youkilis one. Mo Vaughn's was funny too.
  8. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) So there was something in the trib about next year's interleague schedule, though it isn't official yet. Home-Dodgers, Pirates, Cubs Road-Reds, Brewers, Cubs All I can say is, what the f***? The Pirates for the fourth straight year! The Doders for the second year in a row, and the reds for the second time since 2006? I wouldn't hate interleague as much if the same teams didn't play each other every year. At least we get the Brewers. Looks like 18 easy wins to me.
  9. Whitey 1/2 German 1/4 Polish 1/8 Danish 1/8 Bohemian
  10. Any team with David DeJesus (biblical pronunciation, not hispanic) is a dangerous team to begin with.
  11. If Garland didn't even make it to the top 20's, I'm starting to get nervous that Greg Norton's not even going to be on this list.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 11:45 AM) Looks like Crede is getting a blow job in the photo. LOL, what an awkward looking pose he has.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 11:26 AM) Everyone knows that our bullpen is a weakness, we just made it even weaker. Joe Morgan would spit in your face. I think we need to reacquire Andy Gonzalez to become our 5th starter.
  14. If Greg Norton is not on this list, I don't know what to do with myself.
  15. I'm getting married on August 31st and need to buy groomsmen gifts. I've thought about this for months but have yet to come up with anything solid. Looking online, I feel like every website has the same typical gifts: flasks, knives, zippos, pilsners, etc. My groomsmen aren't particularly big drinkers or smokers so I don't really want to get them a flask or lighter. My default backup gift at this point is probably getting engraved knives. However I want to get them something they'll legitimately enjoy and want to keep, I'm not sure how much they'd appreciate knives. The one thing that I know all of my groomsmen enjoy is baseball. So right now this is the closest thing that I've found that they may enjoy, Personalized Bats. What do you guys think of this? So if you got a personally engraved bat as a groomsman would you feel like it was cool at first but then realize you have no use for it? That's what I'm a little afraid of. Or would you think it was great? I don't want to spend 50 bucks on each gift that will be carelessly tossed in a closet forever. I'm looking to spend about 40-50 dollars a gift. Do you guys think the bat's a cool idea? Or should I try something else? Any suggestions on other unique gift ideas would be great. Thanks.
  16. That was really good. I usually don't like reading long posts, but that was well worth it. How bout putting up the picture you guys took together?
  17. QUOTE (ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 12:48 AM) When voting started Dye had a better OBP, SLG, and OPS. Dye has better numbers. This is true, I think he had a OBP of 1 pont better. Slugging was up a little bit with Dye too. But there's a lot more to a player than just the offensive averages line. Dye was just edging him out in those areas too. Dye would have been a good AS player too though. Both were very close.
  18. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:08 PM) and name me a stat Longoria is better at than Dye. The two are pretty neck and neck offensively. These were the stats prior to the vote ending. JD: .298 AVE, 19 HR, 52 RBIs, 19 2B, 1 3B, 3/2 SB/CS, 26 BB, 3 SF, 0 SH, 9 GIDP EL: .281 AVE, 16 HR, 53 RBIs, 22 2B, 1 3B, 6/0 SB/CS, 33 BB, 7 SF, 0 SH, 5 GIDP Jermaine has also had 26 more plate appearances, so he's had more opportunities to gain stats (I didn't account for HBP in that). Now I wasn't ever saying that Evan deserves to be in the AS game by a landslide over Dye, but I did feel like he had the edge. This is why. Looking at their stats, the two have very very similar offensive stats. Almost to the point that you cant really say yes to either one. However, Evan has been sensational at third base this season. He's got 6 errors and a plethora of highlight real plays. Dye has made a few good sliding catches this year and has a real good arm. But with his speed and defensive abilities compared to how amazing Evan has been in the field, I had to give Longoria the vote, because in my opinion, I'd rather the All Star game feature those who deserve it, opposed to those who are more popular. And I felt Evan was more deserving.
  19. QUOTE (WISOX @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 11:46 AM) You must be a Flubs fan in men's clothes. Whoa whoa whoa! Hold on a second. The whole reason I said I didn't want Dye in the AS game was the very reason I'm not a Cub fan. I associate Cub fans as those who choose to like the Cubs because "everyone else does". Cub fans don't like the Cubs because they're are a good team w/quality players that and a quality organization, but because they like idea of joining the masses of Cub fans (mindlessly) without actually knowing anything about their team or baseball in general. Pre-'05 your typical Cub fan was significantly less intelligent than your typical Sox fan when it came to knowing your team and baseball. Hey, most Cub fans I know can't even name off their 25 man roster, nor more than 1 or 2 minor league players. My point about (most) Cub fans is that they are oblivious as to the rest of major league baseball around them, living in their own little world so to speak. An oblivious, unknowledgable fan who probably couldn't give you any more explanation for why he likes his team other than "everyone else does." I felt that combing Longoria's defense and offense compared to JD, Longoria was the more deserving player (to me). And although I think it'd be cool to have JD as an all star too, I felt like I would be making very naive actions to vote in JD just because he's on my favorite team. I felt like voting for your own players just because they're on your own team is a very Cub fan like reaction. Now if a player is truly deserving, then by all means you should vote for him. And those who have looked at what JD has done and what the other nominees have done and felt JD was better, then you made the right move, there's nothing Cub fanlike at all about that. But I didn't feel that way comparing how key Longoria has been year. To further my point, see Alfonso Soriano, who was voted into the starting lineup by the [Cub]fans with his mighty .327 OBP. This is all the same world of thinking that wins as a stat are a direct measurement of how good a pitcher is. Or that an league's most valuable player needs to be on a playoff contending team. Being a Cub fan is living in ignorance. I just wanted the most deserving player to win, I felt that was Longoria.
  20. I liked Carl Everette's feet in his The Mo Vaughn and Youkilis ones for the BoSox were pretty funny too.
  21. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 12:06 AM) If the Sox cut Uribe they would have nobody capable of playing SS outside of OC, and that would be disastrous. You mean like Alexie Ramirez?
  22. I strongly disagree with all of you. Dye has been very good for us this year, but he does not deserve to get voted in over Longoria. The all star game is made so worthless by all the fan voting. Because the players who are more well liked (usually due to what team they're on) are the ones who become all stars, not the ones who deserve it per their performance on the year. Vote Longoria. If you vote a player in just because he plays for your team than you are just as bad as all those people who voted for the Boston/Yankee players like crazy. The all star game should be a matter of performance, not popularity. Now some could make an argument that Dye is more deserving than Longoria, if you really feel that way than vote for him. But considering that Evan started the year after Dye, and has played GG caliber defense, you gotta put him in there over JD.
  23. Does this still exist at the cell?
