  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 12:54 AM) That's a pretty irrational fear seeing as how the Red Sox are about the last team in baseball looking for a 3B since you know, they already have 2 of them that are better than Crede. Kalapse you idiot! Crede will play CF for the Red Sox so that Ellsbury can get another year in AAA, they don't want to rush Jacoby up since he looked so overwhelmed at the MLB level. Get your head in the game man!
  2. I think its time for us to gather around in a circle chanting "FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!"
  3. NTC confirmed here http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2005/01/c...-white-sox.html and here http://www.mlb4u.com/profile.php?id=1021 However, don't get hung up on No-trade clauses. In reality they're meaningless for the most part. If a team makes it clear to a player that they don't want him anymore and want to trade him the player seems to often oblige to the team's desires most of the time. Not many players like staying in a place where they feel disliked or unwanted by the organization itself. Ask Jim Thome.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 10:55 AM) So who else is excited about the prospect of an Owens, Crisp, Dye OF next year? I'd be excited about Owens and Crisp.
  5. It makes sense that Kenny's going after Taveras since he said he was going for a guy who he wanted last year. If this is true I feel a little disappointed, but Willy is a solid player.
  6. If Frank Thomas was on this list would you vote for him? I know I would, I could see Big Frank picking up Matt Murton and breaking him in half like a twig. Frank's probably waiting for his 600th home run to do that.
  7. QUOTE(bighurt4life @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 11:03 PM) I dont think that they'd do that trade for anything less that DLS, Gio and Fields. Seems too much to give up, sure we'd have a great rotation but we'd still be missing a CF, questionable 2B, weak bullpen, and we'd be relying on crede to be healthy for a full 162 coming off back surgery. In addition we'd have an aging 1b, RF, C, SS, 3B, DH and our farm system gutted of our top prospects. This would cripple the organization 2-3 years down the road and is simply too risky. All this in addition to Haren being an injury risk, as he's missed significant time the last several seasons. This trade screws us in the future, we are much closer to being in a position to gut the team and trade off our top players than we are in position to contend I have a feeling if the Sox are not succeeding by late June the team will be blown up, I don't think Kenny would think he can do next year, what he is trying to do this year.
  8. Raines has some pretty impressive career stats. .294 career average, 808 SBs, .385 career OBP. He walked a lot for a non power hitter.
  9. Oh there's no "s"? I always thought that Faustino was the correct version. Fautino sounds too dry. I now consider him less of a prospect for this.
  10. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 05:40 PM) Call me stupid, but who is DLS? Faustino De Los Santos 21 year old right handed Starting pitcher, started 07 in Kannapolis A, ended in Winston Salem A+ So far he looks very good, but is still only in low levels. He likes striking guys out. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=501745
  11. Well the Sox rumors have been pretty quiet about pitchers, but wouldn't that be freaking sweet if we traded for Dan Haren? Supposedly the A's are thinking about rebuilding and Haren's for sale. He's locked up till 2010 and is very inexpensive even though he's a very very good pitcher. Obviously we can't trade for both Haren and Cabrera because after trading for one of them we'd have nothing left. But if we made a signing on Fukudome or A. Jones (hopefully not Aaron Rowand), then we could trade prospects (whole farm system) for Haren. Yay! Here's rumors of the A's blowing up and Haren being mentioned. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...MLB&id=3711
  12. Remember Bureau? The Sox rookie ball scout who came on here a few weeks back? I believe he used Mark Prior as example #1 as how NOT to pitch when talking about Poreda's bad form. Prior is someone who will always continue to hurt himself no matter how much he waits for something to heal.
  13. Toby Hall will be better next year. He can't be worse.
  14. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 11:11 AM) Jim Thome 6'3''-250 -- Jim could do some real damage to someone. He charged someone once, tackled him, hit him once I think and told him not to move or he'd hit him more. "Just stay there." I forget the dude's name -- he was a reliever. Is this really true? Was that in his Indian or Phillie days?
  15. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 06:34 AM) Ozzie comes in at the end with a steel chair and takes it.
  16. This offseason is too boring, so I'm going to have to bring this needed question up. In an all out brawl, judging by strength, size, agility, speed, etc. which Sox player would win?? Of the 10 candidate I listed, I'd actually have to go with Brian Anderson because he's quicker than any of them. All the other Sox players that are quick are too small.
  17. Even though I dislike Boers and Bernstein, I thought it was funny last year when they said that everyday, before coming to the ballpark, Rob Mackowiak would try to accomplish his goal of sharply grounding out to the secondbaseman in every at bat.
  18. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Nov 24, 2007 -> 02:07 PM) I really think the Sox would have to send the Rays Jenks as part of a package to get Crawford. Jenks, Danks, and DLS would probably get it done. I doubt Danks, Gio, and DLS would be good enough, but the Sox could try... I don't think the Sox would be willing to do that though. Jenks is too valuable to lose unless we want Aardsma closing in '08.
  19. Aaron Rowand is a better baseball player than Jerry Owens. Jerry Owens is a better lead off man than Aaron Rowand The White Sox need a lead off man The White Sox do not need Aaron Rowand.
  20. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 23, 2007 -> 08:55 PM) There is no reason to be thrilled with the Linebrink signing. He provides an upgrade, sure, but he's not a stud stopper by any stretch of the imagination. He's no stud, but given what's available he was a good signing, no closer would come to our team to be a set up guy.
  21. Carl Crawford is more valuable than anyone on the Sox outside of Buehrle. Give up Gio/Danks for him, that's fine. If that got him I'd be surprised and very very pleased. He'd be under contract till up to 2010 due to a team option.
  22. Via Rotowire: "White Sox re-signed second baseman-outfielder Jason Bourgeois to a minor league contract. Bourgeois, who turns 26 in January, looked like one of the better minor league free agents out there after hitting .306/.365/.440 between Double- and Triple-A last season. Whether he gets a chance to make the White Sox next spring could depend on what happens with Pablo Ozuna."
  23. I just wish we weren't going to sign any big time FA CF so that we can save some money for next year and sign a good pitcher. We filled the biggest offensive problem at SS, so I wouldn't mind leaving Owens at CF. If we save money maybe we can afford this one guy named John Hand Santa Ana who will be a FA after this season. He'd be fun to have.
  24. The Yankees are reportedly interested in Bobby Jenks. This author admits its a long shot, but suggests that the Yankees could trade Melky or Damon for Jenks if the Sox don't sign a CF. Obviously this would never happen. Seeing how Jenks is the only bright spot in a terrible pen and even if we did have a good pen neither Damon and Melky Cabrera are equal to a solid closer. Here's the article http://www.silive.com/siadvance/stories/in....xml&coll=1 Here's the foolish reaction from the non Sox fans, apparently they think Kenny Williams is awful as many on here do. http://projectprospectbeta.com/forums/view...p?p=14342#14342
