How often do you... *ahem*
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 04:43 PM) *BUZZ* Oh, I'm sorry. But we have some lovely parting gifts for you. A 3 pack of kleenex and a 64 oz bottle of Jergens. Thanks for playing (with yourself)! What the f***? I'm actually mad. I can't believe I didn't see either of those. I hate people who repeat s*** that's already been said in a thread and I've done it twice now.

Official 2009-2010 NCAA Football Thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 10:59 AM) Tyler Moeller, starting LB for OSU, was assaulted in a bar in Florida while with his family and will be out for the year because of serious head injuries. Damn, never good to hear anything like that, especially "head" injuries. Hope he can make a full recovery.

Lurking before Posting
I waited over a year until posting here. I had posted on WSI before, but when I made the switch to reading this board, I didn't sign up until some thread prompted me to. Oh man, I just looked up my 1st ever post at WSI, and I was replying to some guy's trade idea of James Baldwin, Paul Konerko, and Sandy Alomar for Paul LoDuca. Yeah, that would have worked out well...

Name a state that the US could do without
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 11:03 AM) Arkansas: Frankly, I got nothing. Don't they have some hot springs? Yeah, they do. Plus, the Ozarks area is really nice. But, yeah, thinking about it. Arkansas doesn't really have a whole lot going for it.

Does Wise have dirt on Ozzie or Kenny?
I wouldn't worry too much. We don't need a 5th starter for another week or so, so that's the reason Torres was sent down. Once we bring up another starter, Wise will be gone. They're just delaying the inevitable in keeping Wise.

White Sox Acquire Alex Rios Off Waivers
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 02:55 AM) Rios is using 51, dont worry per Cowley Twitter. Hmm, I don't like it. I get why he's using that (15 backwards), but that's too high for a position player. He needs to be a number in the teens or twenties. Pitchers are the only ones who should be using a number that a LB would where.

Official 2009-2010 NHL Thread
What I don't understand about this whole thing is why did he want change in the first place? Apparently he can't afford to tip a cabbie $1.20. If I'm paying a cab fare like that, I give the guy $15 and say "thanks." I don't want change, unless I'm a cheap ass bastard (and that's coming from a broke college student).

Top 5 Bear Games to attend
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 01:53 AM) What? I think he means with cheering/making noise and such. If the crowd gets loud enough, it can cause delay of games, false starts, timeouts being called by the team with the ball, etc. You can't do that with other sports b/c of the one on one nature of shooting a basketball or hitting a baseball, for example.

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 07:31 AM) I spent college drinking Natty lite and Keystone. Watery beer doesnt affect me This. And add Lone Star to that list for me. I had it for the 1st time a few days ago while in Texas, and it's pretty good for being Texas' version of one of the "cheap" beers.

Summer of '09 television thread
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 08:37 PM) Anyone watch Mad Men? I just started watching it, about mid way through the first season, and it really is a great show. Thinking about it. My brother, sister, and brother-in-law all watch it and say it's great. I almost bought the 1st season last week, but I have so much to catch up on (in the way of TV shows), I figured I'd hold off for now. But, glad to hear another good opinion on it. I've been watching Arrested Development recently. I'm 13 episodes in to Season 1, and it's hilarious.

Music Thread
QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 11:15 AM) Just got the kings of leon album and I'm really enjoying. Just got it 2 days ago, and I really like it as well. I've never listened to King of Leon before, but my sister highly recommended it, so I checked it out and they're pretty darn good.

Hudson, Gartrell promoted to Charlotte...
Hudson is the truth. I really can't remember a player making such a high jump (low-A to AAA) in one season, and he's gotten better at every level. His July numbers were just filthy.

I don't remember this board being in this good of a mood...
I was thinking the same thing the other day about how the whole board just seems to be in a really good mood, and it's a pleasant change from the doom and gloom bull we had to read every other post a few months ago. By no means are the Sox perfect, but there are certain things that are fun to follow every day (e.g. Beckham, what will Buerhle do next time out, Peavy's injury updates, etc).

Gordon your Beckham?

We love you Gordon, oh yes we do
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 07:49 AM) The only reason I call him bacon is because it's easier to text with the T9 on my cell... I just added "Beckham" to my list of T9 words, lol... Is it bad that I've texted about him enough to have to do that?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 11:16 PM) Yeah, we should stop calling him that....he clearly does not care for the name. yeah, agreed. I've never once called him anything other than "Beckham."

Most exciting sporting event you ever attended.
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 03:28 PM) Again both exciting, but Chalmers play, including the freaky pass from Sherron tied the game at the buzzer on the biggest stage of them all. True. Forgot about the pass (handoff sort of?) from Collins. I remember thinking he was falling down and the game would be over, but somehow got it off to Chalmers. I was happy Kansas won, though, b/c I hate John Calipari.

Most exciting sporting event you ever attended.
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 03:07 PM) somewhat true, but nothing in the world will ever ever ever beat the Mario Chalmers shot. For a Kansas fan, yes. But, not for an Illinois fan. It may not have been with time expiring, but the Deron Williams' 3 capping off the comeback is one of my favorite sports moments. Goosebumps.

Most exciting sporting event you ever attended.
Ole Miss-Arkansas 7 overtime game back in 2001. Matt Jones was a freshman QB, and all the Ole Miss fans (myself included) were so pissed that "some freshman QB" was tearing it up, running all over Ole Miss. Little did we know that Matt Jones would actually be a pretty good college QB.
