  1. actually just go by what KW said and you can see thet the sox have been raking it in for years..in 01 KW said the sox lost 7 millions dollars...i find that hard to believe but if thats true then they made a killing in '00... the payroll in '01 was 62 million...in 00 it was just over 30 million...32 million minus 7 million and the sox are already 25 million in the black before any cost of living increase is figured in on all their other contracts with vendors and crap like that...plus attendance was up 200k in '00 and we had 2 playoff games whith almsot another 100k so we add to that all the revenue from an extra 300k and the sox bring in atleast another 10 million..so now we are up to 35 million...thats including all the fancy shmancy accounting that JR pays those guys the big bucks for....more than likely you would double that amount to 70 million if we wanted to be realisitic...the sox get 30 million right off the bat for tv revenue..figure in mlb sales and the real numbers must be staggering... so by KW's own words..even if the sox took a small bath in '01 they made such a killing in '00 that they sure could have put away some of that money in interest bearing accounts to pay for a rainy day (or year)... there has never been a reason for JR , KW or anyone else to cry poor here..last year ESPN did a financial evaluation of all mlb teams..they listed the bottom ten in terms of who was the least solvent franchises...the sox didnt make the list...if they posted the whole list my guess is the sox would be somewhere in the top 3rd...around 7 -10 maybe...the team isnt even up for sale and JR has atleast one fair offer on the table, probably more..this team is a goldmine
  2. hopefully by 2006 JR has sold the team or died and we have a new owner that might actually value quality starting left handed pitching
  3. reminds of "slapshot" .."im gonna flash um joe , im gonna go out there and wiggle my figgen dick at um...and you know why ..so you have a friggen heart attack and die so we dont have to do these friggen fashion shows anymore...im warning you , ya cheap bastard , when i flash um everyone with the exception of my will be heading for the exits"
  4. thats a good way to put it mathew...i friggen hate lee
  5. yeah..and you sox fans that dont agree with me that we should trade for trot nixon should go become scrub fans too i hate when people say that..its like saying if you dont agree with me youre not worthy to be a sox fan..you must sink to scrubdom
  6. 8 starting pitchers in better then 7, you can't argue with that. if the yanks bought up the top 200 pitchers and paid them enormous amounts of money to do nothing then the rest of would suck why i posted that i have no idea
  7. Zito is way better then Buehrle, infact Buehrle and Garland might not be enough to land Zito. zito's numbers are just staggering 47-14 , 536ip , 430 hits , 465k's , 203 bb , 3.04 era last year 23-5 , 229ip, 182 hits , 182k's, 72bb , 2.75 era those numbers would look great if they came from a pitcher in the late 60's...wonder what it will cost to sign this guy when he becomes a free agent if he stays the course..could he get AROD money???
  8. he kind of flies in circles though i cant see him in CF...im really worried about catcher and CF..we are so close to winning this division but if the questions marks we have in those two positions dont come through it could derail the whole season
  9. its the white sox..something will go wrong...probably have some construction worker get shot on the way to work or something and everyone will scream about how terrible the neighborhood is... the optomism of a sox fan
  10. that was my first thought because i thought they needed a 2nd baseman...then i checked todd walkers stats...man is this guy underrated...he has 290 or better like every year in his career...he hit 299 last year..i ended up wanted to trade for him..lol thats why i didnt add damien to the deal..lol...but he is about all they have to give up unless we could swing it to get todd walker too for one of our prospects.. how about nixon , nilsson , and walker for lee , 2 pitchers and hummell???..but now its getting too unrealistic unless boston needed to cut salary...wouldnt that be funny..were taking on salary and beantown is cutting..lmao
  11. do you honestly think that the sox will come up with the money to keep them. if we resign all the players needed to keep this team going, we will have a larger payroll than the yanks. you could sign everybody up for next year for 70 million...if you cut loose carlos lee it would be more 65 million... ive done thi before but no one seems to read it.. maggs 13 million colon 12 million koch 7 buehrle 5 konerko 5 thomas 7 (isnt that the sox re up price??) thats 49 million for the top 6 players gives you 21 million to sign the other 19...lee at 4 million and valentin at about 3 million would be the highest paid players...that leaves 14 million for the other 17...no one else is gonna pull much more than a million a year...gordon can be easily replaced with someone under a million...we could come in well under 70 million...
  12. the pressures of a contract have also done in many a ballplayer..but i dont think that would be the case with lee...his laid back attitude and weak ass work ethic would never put too much pressure on him..im expecting the same carlos lee we always get...probably spend half the season in a complete fog..hitting like 240 with 6 homers and 24 rbi..tear it up gainst the cubs..get hot for awhile brings his numbers up to respectability and leave just enough glimmer of hope for next year so ill have sit through another off season of hearing how carlos will finally have his break out season of 35 -110 300...christ ive heard that for 3 god damn years now... its funny..when kip wells got after only 1/2 of a minor league season..with hardly any major league experience at all everyone was talking about him crapping in his pants and shipping him out on the first sign of trouble...but here is lee who spent 4 years in the minors then has had 4 full seasons in the majors and im still hearing "oh this will be his break out year"...i wanna freakin :puke HSC...remember i added dave nilsson in that trade for us..gives olivo some back up...it wasnt just for trot....if you are worried about the middle of the infield im sure the bosox would work it to add damien jackson...dont know what you think of him but he has a good glove , speed and experience..not much of a hitter...
  13. let me ask this..we all agree carlos lee just blows ass as a ballplayer ..right??..he can hit..and as a dh or a 1st baseman would be servicable to some but as a real ballplayer this guy reeks...im getting a vibe here like some think he is actually worth something...does everyone remeber how we ragged on "dumbass caballo" for things like getting picked off once a week at a minimum??...for not being able to get a bunt down like all 3 times he was asked to last year???...for his defensive gems like not chasing down a foul ball that fell into the field of play in anaheim...then watching adam kennedy hit the next pitch out of the park for a 3 run hiomer that led to 8 runs being scored after two outs??? we do remeber what a complete screw up this guy really is ,right???...that he might the dumbest ballplayer to ever wear a uniform??...just checking because i really want him the hell out of here
  14. anyone is tradable...but if i was GM i would be looking to sign buehrle long term and not trade him.....but thats just me
  15. hahaha..good one...think how poor trot must feel
  16. nixon has played cf for boston in the past...he can play it for us..how can defense be overrated???...have you seen the guy throw??..i guarentee by the end of april you would see nixon jerseys all over comiskey...one more thing on nixon..he has good speed..nobody in boston is allowed to steal bases..but there was talk last year of having him lead off and use his potential to steal 25 bases
  17. here is my idea for the final piece of the puzzle carlos lee and 2 pitchers from this list ( adkins , sanders , stewart ,ginter ,porzio , jacquez ,lee ,ulacia , wylie ,ect ect ect ) (id put diaz on the list bit i think murc would suspend my posting privledges )for trot nixon and dave nilsson... boston gets lee who could be moved to first base (he came up as a 3rd baseman) he is a huge upgrade over tony clarke...seems they need pitching prospects..their roster is full of pitchers but almost all are over 30 and they felt that they couldnt trade for colon because they couldnt afford to give up casey fossum ??..not sure i understand that logic but im guessing it means they could use a couple pitching prospects... we get trot nixon..solves our CF problem...this leaves borchard , rowand and the almost forgotten mario valenzuela (highly regaurded prospect who hit over 400 last spring prior to a season ending shoulder injury) to fight it out for LF ...any of these 3 are a huge upgrade over lee defensively..and dave nilsson for those who dont remember was a very good catcher for the brewers...he went to australia to play for them in the olympics and never came back...he just signed with the bosox..he is a career 287 hitter....his last year in the big in '99 he hit 21 -63 -309...plus he is a lefty ....he could start out in charlotte and hopefully get his groove back before alomar goes on the DL...(he better get it back quick )this move would atlest give us somebody that can catch should olivo prove not to be ready.... any ideas??
  18. I guess having the Stones at Comiskey had some impact... paint it black! lol...that and having the all star game might have something to do with it seriously the all star game will be a great opportunity for comiskey to get some good PR and help destoy some of the myths...any wagers as to how bad reinsdorf screws it all up???
  19. if we dont get anyone else to play CF then i would just go with borchard and let him take his lumps...if he could hit 30-35 homers and play an adaquate CF i wouldnt care if he struck out 250 times and hit 180...we need a cf and some lefty pop in the line up..borchard can do both
  20. I was thinking the same thing, but why is Anthony Webster on there, considering he is still a projected FOUR years away? the story on webster was he didnt play baseball until his senior year..he was a football and basketball standout and he chose baseball instead...from a pure athletic standpoint he is considered the top athlete in al the minors...tremendous speed and skill..the scouts from BA were blown away by the huge steps forward this guy took last year considering his experience..they rated him number 99 or 100 on their list.. diaz wont get any lovin until he proves his arm is strong enough to hold up to starting..atleast that was the klnock on him from BA...i dont remember his name on their list either.. my surprise on their list is aaron miles...at 27 you usually dont think of a guy as a top prospect...i think david eckstein has some scouts evaluating just how important age is..some guys find it a later than others..i hope miles gets a legit look in ST cause i think he could turn some heads...maybe enough so that if we dont keep him somebody might give us a prospect for him before we cut him..kinda like how we gave up gurrier for marte...HSC saw him play and thinks he could be the best 2nd base prospect we have including jimenez...ive seen him for 4 innings in an exibihition game and did some nice things..nice hit opposite field , stole a base and turned a really nice DP in the pivot...
  21. what makes it news besides rose being a elb is that he rides around in limos and where thousand dollars...eventhugh he cant gamble anymore..he still tries to live the high life...when you do that you better be able to pay uncle sam...eventhough the good uncle gets way more than he deserves
  22. remember this quote if josh paul ends up behind the plate of the most important game the sox play this year..if any other team made that trade and left themselves as an only viable back up sandy alomar the GM would have been fired on the spot....we dont even have a catcher on the charlotte roster...there is no one even close to being ready should something happen to olivo..and we dont even know if he is ready..we do know that by the time we can use the shower in the outfield at comiskey sandy will be on the DL...but..it will be fun watching koch throw 98 mph fastballs to tony graffinino I respect almost everyone's opinion on this board. I hold most of you guys and gals in high regard when talking baseball......... but what the f*** did anyone see in Mark Johnson? That guy f***ing blew!!!!!!! He couldn't hit, was average behind the plate, and made alot of stupid plays on the basepaths........ he sucked!!!! Josh Paul.......sucks to....... but Mark Johnson isn't much better. You've got s*** in one hand and dog s*** in the other..... no one is saying mark johnson is the next carlton fish but that just shows how really weak we are behind the plate...we needed him...not because of his skill but because of what else we had.. id say mark was a little better than average behind the plate...he threw out 37% of runner stealing against him for his career...30% is considered average...lifetime fldg pct of .993...league average over his time in the league..991..so his number says he is an above average catcher offensively...he blows chunks big time...the only positive is he probably was our best bunter...and i guess we differ..i think he has above average speed for a catcher... this is big for me too...he must have called a pretty good game behind the plate because he became buehrle's personal catcher...its also a no-no to trade the catcher that catches your ace...alot of guys worse than johnson hung around long enough to gain a pension because an ace pitcher loved throwing to them... but the main reason for not trading was we dont have any catchers with any promise outside of olivo..and he has all of 21 major league at bats..arnt we kind of thin at arguably the most important position on the field excluding pitchers???
