arnt you doing the same thing to peter gammons you are accusing us of doing to KW??... there were also stories out of the new york papers that said cashman and steinbrenner really helped move this deal along...so who really knows..all i know is its out of character for williams to make a deal like this...he is usually on the wrong end of these deals...then it comes up that he may have gotten help...then remember the deal is with montreal..a team basically owned by bud selig , reinsey's best friend in the whole world , and selig wants the friggen team contracted...dont you think there is enough smoke there to atleast check for a fire??? when guerrero ends up in new york and vidro in milwaukee will that just coincidence?? or will it be on the up and up like you feel this trade is???...baseball , the business side , stinks right now
-
good point on moving him cubkilla..i agree that durham might not have been a prototypical lead off man for us ..but he is a hell of a lot better than what we have now..which is an unproven jimenez...myself i liked ray in '01 when he hit in the 3 spot...man he seemed to really crank it up a notch that year..42 doubles 10 triples and 20 homers...thats serious extra base power...combine that with his stolen bases and he was on 2nd base or farther by his own doing about as much as anyone in baseball
-
could ward have played CF for us???...if he could then we really missed the boat here...again
-
colon would be happy he is in the AL for sure now
-
your last sentence hit the nail on the head..with the all star game in our home..if this team tanks under that national spolight..its bye bye KW for sure
-
And then having a rotation of Buehrle, Garland, Wright, Rauch and maybe Stewart? Because Durham got a contract that is worth about as much as Colon's, and we definately would not have even considered Colon. Or KW would have been pressured into getting Russ Ortiz and would have given them a top prospect and some decent major league talent. Our lineup would look better with Ray-Ray at 2B....but not necessarily our whole team. so youre gonna cry poor again with one of the more solvent teams in MLB???...we would have still gotten colon...selig and steinbrenner saw to that...the all star game is in chicago..selig and reinsey are best buds..selig runs the expos but wants them contracted or moved...put it all together...we were getting colon..even KW couldnt have screwed that up...this is our shot...durham should have been here for it mlb is starting to look more like WWE
-
i couldnt believe that line either...durham was a good trade??..we only traded an all star 2nd baseman, the best 2nd baseman we have had since nellie fox (bobby knoop excluced CW ) for some friggen bum that carried an era approaching 6 and when he was first interviewed on chicago radio said something like ...i really dont have an idea about pitching..i just throw everything hard and dont care to learn a change up...brialliant move..lets make him "GM of the year" !!!! another thing no one ever questions is KW's draft strategy...what the hell is up with drafting umteen relief pitchers???..one in the first round..wtf???..that is retarded...we have proved this year the one thing that a team that is run by cheapasses can do is sign good relief pitchers cheaply...id never draft a guy with designs on him being a reliever only this year alone if you had no bullpen at all you could have built a great one signing 5 or 6 guys for less than 10 million total..you draft starters..not the royce rings of the world... the author also failed to mention the on going KW-MB saga..regaurdless of what you think of buehrle...this is just wrong whats going on..and a good GM..whether it was his fault or not..would have fixed it by now... KW has done such a good job that we are pinning our hopes on a catcher with 21 major league at bats..a CF that feels its more important to crash motorcycles then to be ready for ST...oh..and we still have dumbass caballo in LF...GM of the year!!!! this is how bad of a GM KW is...when he actually has an off season where he doesnt frick everything up..fans look at that as being a great off season and KW being a savior...
-
that would only work if KW became KC's GM... wouldnt that be sweet
-
hehehe..yeah what was i thinking..lol
-
lmao..thats a funny post..and there is some truth to that too...i remeber what it was like to be 25 and feel indestructable myself but when your a major league ballplayer and you have been wanting to get a starting job in the big and its finally handed to you...the last thing you should do is anything to jeapordize it...the number of opportunities one gets is rare...if rowand cant answer the bell at the start of the season and harris or borchard step up and do the job rowand may never get another chance.. 3 years ago jeff liefer beat out paul konerko for the 1st base job...the last week of spring training liefer got injured...look what happened to him...rowand might have really fricked himself up with this move...
-
i would have kept durham and howry too..especially durham...think about how much better we would look right now with him on 2nd base and leading off

Why would you deny yourself a friend? More to the point, you have friends right now you are gay but they are not out to themselves yet perhaps, or more likely to you. And the question is not what you support - a person is what a person is. Do you support tall people or short people? What is important is that you are a friend to your friends, and not to live life in judgment of others as you do not want to be judged. If your generation uses words like that that often, I have lost some respect for them. The explanation of Manos makes sense to me. I usually refer to him as E6. roman...10% of the people in the world are gay..trust me..whether you want to or not...your hanging out with them...you just dont know it... awesome..if people give jimenez a nickname refering to an accident its because of the car wreck he had a few years back

thats cause your just too nice

They supposedly talked, but KW decided that Leiber wanted too much money. Imagine that. It's like the Yanks got them a bargain if Leiber is even 75% as good as he has been. i would have passed on lieber too...he throws about 75% sliders...sliders are hard on the elbow..it could be a long recovery for lieber..if he ever does
-
minor league contract??...could have been a good pick up for us....had an off year last year but he could have pushed kelly wunch
-
I think you are a tad bit low at least the first two sets of numbers how about 400 74? If Frank puts up those numbers .... HE can play CF!! he can even pitch too
-
i think what this thread really says is the off season is too long and we are really reaching for interesting topics...lets get it going...hurry up march 31st!!!
-
or maybe cruz just aint listening...he ought to happy as hell with a 2 million dollar offer..he only hit 245 last year
-
from my understanding from what ive read is the major league teams pays the players bonuses..the salaries are paid for by the minor league teams..unless the player has a special contract with the parent club...then the difference is paid for by them...the salaries are all set at a certain level..anything over that is pick up by the parent club....most parent clubs do subsidize some of the operating expenditures for their farm clubs i believe...i believe the parent club picks up travel expenses when a player is moved from one team within the org to another...HSC can confirm or deny this and id bow to her better judgement as im going from memory on an article i read in SI about 10 maybe 15 years ago.,..things might have changed alot since then too

goddamn..i think the exact same thing...this is always the most boring part of the year...while i dont watch college BB in the regular season i do enjoy march madness...ill usually try and get in a pool with a couple of underdog teams..one of those where if you take a 15th or 16th seed and they get to the great 8...you get x amount of dollars..more if they advance further..12 through 16 seed has to make the final four....that type of thing...thats makes it alot of fun sorry for the tangent but yourt right..its god damn boring until march 31st!!

i love jag off myself ..it fit so many situations

No..... not this year. Don't know how reliable the info is, but I talked to a White Sox employee around X-mas leaving the ballpark that I happen to know and he/she heads a particular department for the Organization (If RPS thinks real hard, he could probably put 2 and 2 together and figure out who it was I talked to). The renovation of Comiskey Park, according to this employee, will be done slowly but surely over approximately 7-10 years during the offseasons. The HKS pics taken down from their website a few months back is what the finished product is supposed to resemble. I tend to believe him/her because, if anyone was fortunate enough to see HKS's finished Comiskey pics (they were bone inducing), everything on the inside is painted gray and black with blue seats. By now, I think most have seen the black and gray which now permeates the entire inside of Comiskey Park which was completed this Fall after 2002's season was over. Considering they are redoing the concourses in the OF's and upper deck this season according to the pics on HKS's website, I'd say the finished product is at least 3-4 years away. The big projects (which are being put off until after the national spotlight of the All-Star game is extinguished) are a new grand entrance on 35th and Wentworth and a HR porch in RF to make up for the seating lost when between 5-10 of the highest decks of the upper deck are chopped off. Restaurants and new interactive attractions are planned..... according to the Dept Head. The reason why the renovation is being done in stages is quite simple..... each project takes approximately 6 months to complete and trying to complete the whole project at one time would mean the White Sox would have to find a temporary home for at least one entire season..... similar to what the Bears had to do this past season. they sox should just find a temporary home and finish it all in one year....i might be dead in 7 years

jr really doesnt have to open it up that much..65 million and were fine..plus with al lthe all star crap he could easily go 75 million next year.. garland came up in '00..has been here all of '01 and '02...so after this year he will be eligable fo arbitration...he is looking at a couple , maybe 3 million depending on this year
-
if you look at white's numbers from colorado you can kinda piece together what happened...his hits versus IP wernt that bad but his walk total was way up...probably means after the first infield pop up went about 450 feet he said holy s*** , what did i get myself into and started nibbling alot more..falling behind in the count then coming in and getting tatooed...that place is afriggen disaster to pitch in...darryl kile had an era around 6 there too..his career was fine after he left (rip)...hampton's probably will be too..and so will white's...

based on this article, there is no f***ing way i would sign him. this guy sounds like boras. 4 million dollars??....hope he speaks japanese
