J, twice since last September this administration has gone out of its way to state it would use nuclear weapons on a first-strike basis: in the Bush Doctrine of last September, a very intentional release given it is intended as Bush's official policy, and then a few months in a Dept. of Defense statement that specificaly rejected Mutually Assured Destruction as US nuclear policy and adopted First Strike. I do believe that if Bush launches a first strike, the last thing any of us will think will probably not be about voting in the next election - more like, "wow what a flash....." By the way, that is why Bush's hands are somewhat tied in North Korea. If NK has nuclear weapons, or even if they don't, they have missiles very easily capable of hitting South Korea everywhere and killing 10s of millions. But the use of force in Iraq, nuclear or otherwise, will undoubtedly result in retailiation against the US, probably by terrorism, repeatedly. I know that Bush thinks if he says "Don't mess with Texas" enough it will scare others away but it won't. And when terror retaliation comes against the US, Bush will be hiding as he did before and Cheney will be hiding as he did before and you and I will be kissing our asses goodbye and I'll never get to see if the Sox win the series this year. (But Bush is stupid, the terrorists will find him, all they have to do is follow the liquor delievery truck convoy bringing the twins their daily alcohol and the Bush hideout will be found.) The UN is the best secular hope we have for the world. We are not alone in this world; other peoples live here too, and in fact, there are a hell of a lot more of them than us. If we don't talk together - what? this is the same rhetoric that was used against reagan 20 some years ago..damn near word for word... we will not use nukes..it will not happen...we have no intention of using nukes.. btw..president bush is giving saddam every chance to come clean...there is even a proposal on the table that would allow saddam to leave and live out his life in exile should he leave peacefully and let the UN set up a more democractic governemnt - i dont agree with this myself - this guy should not be able to live out his life after the crimes he has committed...but it does show that he is giving saddam other options than war...now its up to saddam..

i think what happened here was KW just didnt think a player of daubach's calibur would be looking to sign a minor league deal...when he had the chance to sign him to a minor league deal he took it.. i know rios has a major league contract and its gaurenteed if he doesnt make the team he still has to earn a spot...if he didnt then signing daubach was stupid...rios is a lefty with some power..if the sox decide to go with daubach and paul and not rios there will be a market for rios...somebody in ST will have a outfielder go down and be in need of a guy like rios..kinda like how we needed marte last year....we can get a prospect from rios from somebody..and then not have to pay his contract...

or maybe you will die the way that one guy from peta...getting attacked by 100 minks while trying to set them free from a mink farm whoever talked about orielly with the SUV's...whether or not we have SUV's is pretty far down on my lists of priorities...my belief on mother earth is that we as humans really are full of ourselves if we think we are gonna destroy this planet...regaurdless of what happens..in a million years after the last human has left there will be nothing to show we were even here...except maybe a few pieces of plastic (and yes i stole that last line from carlin:))

the difference between going after saddam and going after milosivec is simple...it was which party was in charge...when clinton went after milosivec , these hollywood were quiet...if they , like they claim , hate war and killing why wernt they speaking against clinton??...because he is one of their own.. the main reason the democrats dont want war because they know they cant win....they know, despite allthese reposrts that we could lose thousoands of soildiers that iraq is an army in shables..and one of two things will happen..and both are bad for the democrats...one is alot worse than the other.. 1. we go in and wipe out iraq and find that saddam was just a few months away from having necleaur capability..its completely over any dem who came out against the war..thats why you havnt heard anything from guys like lieberman that are planning on running for president..cause they will be slicing their own throat... 2. we go in and we find out what some have said in here...some anthrax here and there and a few unused scud...but nothing of substance...no one will care though...saddam will be out of power..it will have taken very little time to accomplish this and the question will be why did wel et this guy hang around for so long..and who was in charge for 8 years prior to bush??...clinton... either way the dems cant win because this war will be like duke playing prarie view in basketball..over by the 5 minute mark... while there are some that oppose this war for hjard core beliefs in no violence...i understand that and respect it..but every democrat was on board when clinton went after milosivec..so none of them in charge right now that supported clinton and his wars can use that as their reason..well they can but it would be disingenuous...

not that im defending gary pettis because i wasnt a fan of his spying and all that crap...but that one game in detriot..carlos is on first and the last thing pettis says....you could read his lips very clearly.."this guy has a great move"...lee takes his lead and the pitchers throws over and lee doesnt even attempt to get to back to first...he is stnding there looking at randall simon as he walks over and tags him out... now how is that one the coaches fault???....the play is right in front of carlos' face and he just got warned to be careful....if i was pettis id have shot him that day

Washed up? Is he old or something? From what I see he hit .305 at AAA and hes had limited mlb action. That sounds damn good to me... burke is 29
-
if i was a twins fan id be pretty pissed too...the sox are making move after move to improve their team and the twins lose ortiz and jackson and all they add is fetters???
-
Yeah, the Sox are the "Jan Brady's" of MLB. Always overlooked in favor of their shallow, snotty, underachieving sister. maybe maggs will show up with a huge afro then to start getting some of that recognition...hi , im the new magglio !!!

dont give kenny any ideas

quit ragging on the guy for making a list...this isnt WSI..if we wanted that type of mentality we would stay over there...i actually liked the idea of this list because we have added so many to the roster and i wanted to see exactly how daubach fits in..hold2dibber looks like the list i like most...except for the KW 4 stars!!!..yuk.. i think he might be on to something with munoz..if we are gonna keep only 11 pitchers as the plan is now then can we afford a guy like wunsch that can only pitch to a batter or two??...we should have two lefties in the pen so does munoz , who has had a great year in both the summer and winter steal that spot from wunsch???...there is talk of him strecthing out to become a starter someday so i imagine going 2 or 3 innings if needed wont be a problem... looks like the 2 spots comes down to these three..rios , paul and daubach...paul contribution is he can catch and we are very weak..and if we send him to charlotte we could lose him...daubach brings consistent 20-75 - 275 to the table and a left bat..rios , brings a potential poor attitiude , i dont see him doing anything offensively that daubach doesnt do..the key for rios is can he play CF??..if he can then thats gives him something over daubach...otherwise i think he could be the odd man out...
-
Is he on the roster? If so we should have quite an advantage. i heard while he is not much of a ballplayer....he is real good guy in the clubhouse...a real chemistry maker..gets along with everyone...plus he does have better range in the outfield then anyone in the history of the game on days we play with a lot of standing water out there !!..and he has great fish fries for the team before every friday game to help bring them together....i think he gets the last roster spot

Going out, styling, to be seen, show off, and impress, wearing a lot of ice (diamonds). thanx..hey i did know what "ice" meant...lol geez..we got a 50 something educating a 40 something on street lingo of the teen crowds..only on a sox board

Well, I found the answer to my own question. This is from Stark's R&G column at ESPN: DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!!! interleague play sux...it should be one three game series with designated rival...teams that dont have a rival just rotate one 3 game series each year with each other...should be the last 3 games before the all star game (so sham-me cant claim injury to "tune up" for the home run contest)...or just do away with it all together..
-
with the white sox having the all star game and comiskey being on center stage..id wait till next year see just how far both KW and JR have gotten their collective heds out of their asses...if none of these great pick ups are back next year and its another round of the kids can play then both should be :fyou .. its just kinda funny after 20 years all of a sudden we are going to start doing things the way real winners do...is that because they want to win year after yer and re now serious or is it just to impress during the all star game and hope to get a serious bump in attendance...next off season will answer these questions

brian daubach and zero errors last year awesome in LF...if you want to use errors only as an indicator..but that doesnt make "daubber" a gold glover either...but he has a better arm than carlos and can take a good route to a ball...but he is slower than hell and that means he will never be more than adaquate at best..jacque jones has more errors than both carlos and daubber combined probably over their entire careers..are you gonna honestly tell me both are better then jacque defensively in LF because they make less errors ????..you have to be able to see how bad carlos really is in LF...regaurdless of the one error... the best and only reason i can see that makes sense to keep carlos this year and pay him the big bucks next year comes from YASNY...should he F.I.N.N.A.L.L.Y. have his breakout year he would be ideal then to replace frank should frank and the sox decide to part ways.... i just wish kip wells would have had 1/2 the chances carlos got...this will be his 9th year in the organization...if he does finally have a break out year i sure dont want to hear "see i told you so" from anyone...that would be like peter gammons saying the same thing if the red sox finally win a world series after he picked them to win it all the last 37 years in a row

i dont think it can be called tampering because buehrle was the one who made the first comment about playing there...then the reporters went after larussa to get his thoughts on the issue....if it went down this way larussa was the last person to say anything...plus he is a lawyer..im sure he understands whats tampering and whats not better than most lawyers...

as a public service to the ignorant..what exactly does "bling" mean in todays lingo???..thanx

if youre talking about the pete myers i remember that played for the bulls (if its the same guy) then maybe DM should just take a big glass full of shut the hell up! ! ( i love that saying:))...that guy had very little skill but was one tough son of a b**** on defense...the bulls used to put myers on the other teams top scoring gaurd and pete would frustrate him , most of the time shutting him down..just making life misreable for him...pete didnt care if he fouled out cause he couldnt finish a lay up..but god was he a hard ass... if this is the same guy..maybe these punk ass overpaid crybaby whimps that play the game today (which is why i stopped watching years ago) out to just shut up and listen to myers...maybe they will learn something..because i dont think too many in this game got more out of less than meyers...with his tools ,he had no business even being near an NBA arena.. if this isnt that same pete myers..then disregaurd my rant

it wasnt a kw basher , ok it was a kw basher , but that KW basher is an immediate member of mark buehrle's family... You have a point, and I wouldn't want to insult the credibility of this family member. But at the same time you have to take into account that at best, he probably got any details of the negotiations on a "third hand" basis. Mark's agent would be first hand.. he would be in the negotiations directly. When the agent reported to Mark, that makes Mark as having "second hand" info... then Mark tells this particular family member.. third hand. Just saying, the possibility is there that this info is somewhat inaccurate. I was led to believe that it would be hitting the papers soon... and I'm still waiting for that. you got a good point there...my take on this whole thing is we have buehrle for 4 more seasons..so much can change before then...KW and JR could both be gone and buehle might love the new management...and who knows what the future holds for mark...4 years is a lifetime to a starting pitcher.. seems to me we really need the season to start so we quit analyzing these issues to death...and just hope things work out for both mark and the sox..and of course...the loyal fans...
-
you may be right but he is still gonna suck in LF...he will get picked off base more now because he will be on base more..and if he does have a break out year of lets say 35-110 320 do you think it would be a wise move to pay him the 8 -9 million he probably will earn in arbiration with those numbers knowing his other deficiencies???... god i hate players that play in a fog...and there is a lot of fog around carlos

isnt adkins on the 40 man roster
-
he has not improved defensively each year..he is treading water at best..and his offensive numbers have been on the decline since he hit 300 3 years ago..did you even watch this idiot run the bases last year???...he is a friggen idiot.. hopefully the signing of daubach will open the door for carlos' departure and free up 4.2 million to make a deal for another starting pitcher not named loaiza... carlos as "little frank"???..are you serious???....look at thomas ' first 4 years and compare them to dumbass caballo.. but i am with you on not liking "the train wreck in LF"...i prefer "the lawn ornament" myself

this group took out a letter innewspapers around the country...endorsed by the usual lefties..jesse jackson , charlie sheen , john and joan cusack , al sharpton , alec baldwin ..even a few congressman that i cant recall their names right now..the usual anti republican crowd... i expected this letter to contain the usual anti bush anti republican (you know -whatever a republican wants to do it must be wrong - so im automatically against it without even checking the facts)but this letter and the interview i saw on foxnews with their spokesperson(some 20 year old punk who was going to give bill oreilly a history lesson...lmao!!) has gone past everything this crowd has ever endorsed before to my knowledge.. the key quote , which prompted orielly to have this group on his show was.."we shook our heads at the terrible carnage (911) as we recalled similiar scenes in the gulf war and panama"... in the interview orielly got this kid to say some of the most outragous things ive ever heard on this subject...this kid, representing this group , said the "american governemnt are terrorist"..."that american is responsible for the 200,00 civilian death in iraq during the gulf war and the deaths of over 500,000 children starving to death there since"....when asked by orielly isnt saddam responsible for that he said no...we were because we went into iraq which was a terrorist act... orielly asked him about saddam gassing the kurds during the iraq -iran war and this kid doubted it ever happened..i gbuess saddam is a really good guy huh??? but when orielly brought up milosivec and asked where this group was when clinton went into yugoslavia the kid had no answer..didnt want to talk about that because it wasnt 'rellevent"..lmao... this borders on some of the most bizarre stuff ive ever heard...for the college age kids that post here..is this the crap our universities are teaching??..that the US is a terrorist nation??...only when a repblican is in office of course that f***er really pissed me off....this is a slap in the face to those who lost loved ones in 911 im not posting the link to this website because it disgusts me...if you wanna set it for yourself go to foxnews and click on bill orielly..they have a link and a section where you can respond to this group and tell them what you think...even if you agree with them...
