i never said evans was perfect...i questioned that trade already..read my post above...but the shuey trade in no way destroyed the dodgers like the ritchie trade did the sox...and atleast evans has a legit excuse..he traded for shuey to help the dodgers win last year...put kenny williams in the same position the dodgers were in and he would trade mark buehrle for 3 prospects in A ball saying that 3 games out was too much to make up and the fans wernt showing up anyways...then his supporters would say what a great move..we got three guys that will all surpass buehrle i was sold on evans, however seeing him and what he did in la, i am in no way a backer of his anymore. dave dumbrowski was available but not now. i would invade the oak management team and get that new guy, billy beane new asst. the one that BA named and the most promising gm. what has evans done wrong that has everyone so down on him???...the dodgers havent been this good in over a decade.....he took over and with one move, sheffield for joran and perez, made them contenders...the 92 wins last year was the most for the dodgers since 91 when they won 93...they just got stuck in a real tough division..best baseball is on the west coast right now...it could have very well been the dodgers in the world series if they got in...how bad would evans look then??? some of his other trades has me scratching my head. i was of the impression that evans should have been the gm. he did everything he was suppose to do to earn that job. the only trade that me shaking my head was the shuey trade..but i dont follow the dodgers religously...did i miss any???

remember this quote if josh paul ends up behind the plate of the most important game the sox play this year..if any other team made that trade and left themselves as an only viable back up sandy alomar the GM would have been fired on the spot....we dont even have a catcher on the charlotte roster...there is no one even close to being ready should something happen to olivo..and we dont even know if he is ready..we do know that by the time we can use the shower in the outfield at comiskey sandy will be on the DL...but..it will be fun watching koch throw 98 mph fastballs to tony graffinino

how about sending carlos lee to boston for trot nixon....boston is l;oaded with outfielders and lee can play 1st base for them ...they have tony clark i think as their first baseman so lee would be a huge upgrade offensively...and nixon would be such a huge upgrade over what we have now i cant find a word to describe it...we wo uld probably have to send over a prospect or two (this is where it gets scary with kw) because nixon brings all the intangables (good base running ,great bunter ,great glove ,rocket arm) lee doesnt and their offense is about the same nixon 24 -94 256...36 doubles lee 26 -80 264..26 doubles

Well, Im 15 and I have to tell the story of my favorite White Sox moment ever. This is excluding the games hwere I was actually at Comiskey because in those games no matter what happens are better. I spent the entire 2000 season (and others) in Rota, Spain so I hardly ever got to see the Sox on TV (when I did Id have to stay up to like three in the morning). When I learned that my grandma was dying of cancer my family went to West Virginia to be with her in her final days (late July 2000). She had some pretty cool neighbors and I saw that the Sox were playing the Angels one nite on TV. Just so I didnt bother my grandma I went to the neighbors and watched the game with them. The game was not going well until about the eighth inning. They were down 6-2 going to the top half of that inning. We scored two runs and then went to the ninth down by two and facing the Angels top notch closer, Troy Percival. With one man out, one run in and a man on second, Ray Ray doubled and tied the game. He later scored and we took the lead. We blew it in the bottom half but in the top of the tenth we scored four runs and took the game for good. That is my favorite White Sox moment ever... I was at that game. Great game. I miss Ray... you wouldnt believe the major brouh - ha - ha that started on the white sox board that nite....ill never forget it...we were up to 5 in the morning...a bunch of us were ragging on manuel and then when they won an couple posterscalled us out ..man was that fun that nite.. ill miss ray too.. a lot...i think ray's game will be much more appreciated now that he is gone..it will be hard to replace...it took 30 years to find an adaquate replacement for nellie fox...lets it doesnt take the same for ray-ray

But JB has an absolutely horrible attitude. That would not be a good thing if it rubs off onto the youngins... I had always heard the JB had a great attitude. That's why Thomas and Durham were upset when he was traded. ididnt get that statement either....JB got along with everyone..except KW..cant blame him for that after what KW said about him after he traded him Someone from the front office always disses a player after they are traded. I, for the life of me, cannot understand that. you would think they would want to talk him up so they leave on good terms...you never know what the future holds and you might want that guy back someday

when your in a pennant race what game isnt big that a closer blows....i agree that foulke wasnt perfect...the area he suffered most in was pitching in non saves situations....but the arguement here for defending koch was he shouldnt have been out there because it wasnt the classic closer situation...leading by 3 runs or less in the 9th...thats what i was argueing...you cant use as a defense that billy koch shouldnt have been out there because it wasnt a classic closer situation and then say kieth foulke blew chunks last year when the sox went a whole month w/o having a save opportunity for him... im not saying you said that but that was the arguement above...

White = 6th inning man Marte = 7th/8th inning man Gordon = 8th/7th inning man Koch = 9th inning man Glover and Wunsch are used when the time is right....Glover when White or Gordon had worked on about 2 nights in a row, Wunsch when either Marte has worked the same as Gordon/White or when there is a lefty that we need to get out. I think we're going to have an incredible bullpen this year - one of the best in the league, if not the best in the league. I can't wait for the season to start. I was thinking KW said White would take on Rocky Biddle's role in the pen. i see it the ame way cali does..lets hope jerry the tinkerer can figure it out to...no more closer by committee

two things..we really dont have koch for three years...its more like he has us...he probably gets 7 million this year in arbitration..or whatever he asked for...next year he will , if he is as good as advertised , probably get closer to 10 million...could you imagine the sox paying koch 10 million...the only hope we have is if he likes it here and takes less than market value...but thats up to billy and not us..so like i said...he has us..not the other way around also..in the playoffs when you are called upon you better come through..i dont care if it wasnt the classic closer situation...randy johnson closed out the series two years ago..if he failed could you imagine the stink he would have started if he said well i shouldnt have been in there because i wasnt starting?? nobody gave kieth foulke a break last year when he went almost a month w/o a save opportunity and had to pitch in all different situations..when koch is called on to pitch he better come through...save situation or not..he is supposed to be the best pitcher in the pen...

Ritchie was definitely below average. there isnt a word in the dictionary to describe just how much below average todd ritchie is

the rowand story was off the mlb boards...the guy who posted it said it was in one of the papers..i didnt bother to confirm it because the person who posted it has never lied about anything to me before...but he did he read where rowand was behind schedule
-
f*** them.........The Whitesox are going to win the central........ this guy is a queer. the guy makes some good points..especially about the koch trade..he nailed that one..foulke is the better closer between the two..at best we tread water on that trade...but it weakened us at catcher..as unherlded as mark johnson is..we needed him... up the middle, the sox have 3 rookies or first year starters...we have no proven lead off man...if rowand isnt ready (he still cant hit or throw) and borchard hasnt developed we could end up with willie harris or armando rios in cf... you cant blame this guy for picking us 2nd...it was a fair report on us right now...sox gotta prove it first
-
if thats the case and it was reported today that rowand cant even use his arm yet..he cant hit or throw, shouldnt getting a cf be a priority??? btw..in the jimenez trade we sent alex fernandez over to the padres..alex hit 299 in AAA last year and has a shot at winning a job in the padres outfield...seems like we might end up needing him more then we do jimenez..we are loaded with 2nd base prospects..but have none for CF
-
looks like they have us penciled in for 2nd place
-
we are not taking 12 pitchers north..ginter is out of a job
-
is sanders a lefty,,maybe a switch hitter???..whoever we get has to be able to supply left handed power
-
if we ran off a string of division titles like the indians did in the mid 90's..and as weak and financially strapped as the other teams in our division are there is no reason why the sox couldnt , attendance would be so high at comiskey that season ticket holders like HSC and cw sox would be b*tching their asses off because they would be getting letters from the sox saying that they would now have to start buying licenses before they could purchase their season tickets ...chicago is dying for a winner....win and they will come..but after all reinsdork has done he has to make the first move...not the fans
-
so the buehrles are going public..that must mean the sox declined buehrle's counter offer...morons in charge
-
maybe youre right CW...i said in my post im not 100% sure about my position on this issue....i just wish the situation for hiring KW was different...because i really like danny evans and i think (i know you dont ) the job he has done in LA is much better than what KW has done here...maybe that clouds my judgement.. i just wish KW could do his job...we sox fans deserve a break
-
if your reasons were valid then how do you explain attendance from 91 to 94??...some of it could be because the park was new but we were on pace for over 2.5 mil maybe even 3? (going by memory) in 94 and thats 3 years after the park opened ..enough time for the newness to wear off... reinsdorf's role in the strike in 94 when the sox had a chance to go all the way and then the white flag trade combined to run off alot of fans and they havent come back... now its almost 10 later and other dynamics have come into play...a major one being alot of the older sox fans from the neighborhoods around comiskey have moved out to the suburbs...since reinsdorf gave them a reason to question if their loyalty was misplaced it will be really hard to win these fans back because now its quite the chore getting to comiskey from the burbs..

what is it with you and the hundley deal????...a day doesnt go by w/o making reference to it...trading for hundley was a great move by evans because of the situation he found himself in due to the previous GM...hundley is going to the dodgers as a back up catcher...he will play about 40 games...making that trade with the morons on the north side meant he moved two players who were very "hundleyesque" in grudzielaniak and karros while saving 5 million dollars..karros was a starter..maybe the worst first baseman in baseball..grud was nothing...so he traded a starting worthless first baseman for a worthless back up catcher and saved 5 million dollars used to sign fred mcgriff...he strenghtened his team with that move.. he has made some questionable moves..paul shuey being one of them..but this move was a very creative way for him to get rid of 2 worthles pieces of trash for one worthless piece of trash and save 5 million dollars.. as for the rest of your post....there is a list of reasons why people bring race into this 1. riensdorf is on the minority hire committee - he was urging others to look past credentials to hire minorities for GM positions...kind of tied his own hands 2. it was widely accepted at the time that danny evans was going to be schueler's replacement..he was the assistant GM...that is the position that you give the guy you are grooming to be your next GM...so it was a surprise to most when KW got the job.. 3. KW's job performance...he has done things that no other GM has ever done to mke himself look incompetent...trading for the wrong player..i only got 50 cents in my pocket...the fans better show up if they want me to improve this ballclub... given these set of circumstances how could you blame anyone for thinking KW got the job for reasons other then his qualifications???...it doesnt make one a klansman for thinking maybe race did play a factor in KW getting the job.. its not like the people who are saying this cry foul when any african american gets a job in the sox org...has anyone ever said jerry manuel got his job because of his color???...if they have i havent heard it...thats because jerry manuel was qualified to do the job...KW is not..and we passed up a better candidate that was being groomed for the position to hire KW....so there are reasons , legit reason , to question why KW was hired....now if someone said jerry manuel was hired because of color i would be right with you disagreeing with them...but not with KW... im not 100% sure that race played a factor in the hiring of KW..but if i had to bet my life on it i would say yes..and i cant blame anyone for thinking that under these set of circumstances.... no one is crying poor white man..danny evans was not a victim here..he found the same position in a better run organization..probably for more money then he would have gotten here...but to question why KW was hired is not being racist...its being a realist...too many strange set of circumstances not to atleast bring up the question
-
no arguement there... but if, by luck we make the playoff. what then. thats the key...this team better be in contention by the trade deadline or this will look like a going out of business sale compared to the white flag sale
