one thing..i dont believe its fair of you to say you have problems with the scriptures being accurate and feel that because of the times the writers were infuenced to make rome look good and then say gibson made an anti semetic movie when he follows the scriptures.....its the writers of the scriptures where i believe your conflict lies when he follows the scriptures in your opinion he is being anti-semetic...when he doesnt follow the scriptures and adds artistic licsence then you blast him for not follow the scriptures...either way he cant win with you...no matter what he did..he was doomed...

i think the point you are missing....this isnt a story about jesus life and his teachings...its about the final hours of his life...thats it...nothing more...its about the pain and suffering he endured for all mankind...a suffering that at any time he could have called off and said enough...this is not worth it...i believe that was the set up in gesthsemene...the devil tempting jesus by saying no man could endure all that...putting the seed in his head that no one would condemn him for not carrying out this command from God...that it was too much for any man to bear...thats the central theme through all the violence.. then we watched the horror of what christ went through...and every so often we see the devil to remind of that first scene to keep bringing home the point that Jesus could have stopped this punishment at any time... as far as the ressurection goes i think the movie would have had a better impact if it didnt show any of the ressuction...i think it should have ended with jesus on the cross right after he died just staring at us as the camera zoomed out...it would have had a far more lasting effect imo... i believe what you were looking for from the movie was not its intent...i think the flashback scenes were there to give depth to the other characters...especially mary...they were used to show a mother's love for her son...it wasnt about Christ himself...about His teaching...it was about what he endured for all of us...it had to be that violent...to drive the point home... this is definately a movie you need to see with someone who has some real insight..a mentor...or a group of friends...after seeing it i realy need to talk about it...my friend and i spent about 2 hours at denny's talking about it... im sorry that this movie had such a negative effect on you cw...i guess we look at things so differently...but you really challenge me and for that i thank you...ill pray that whatever questions you get asked by your congregation , which im sure will be many , that God grants you the wisdom you need...especially for those that saw the movie the way you did and are deeply disturbed...you can be a great comfort to them...i know you wernt planning to see it but im glad you did..

cw...how can you come to the conclusion the romans were let off the hook???...they came out looking horrible in this movie....to me the romans looked so much worse than the jews.. i read through all 4 gospels this morning from where judas deceives Jesus...if you look at gospels accounts as a script for this movie its pretty close to what the gospels say...if this movie is a direct account of this anna catherine's vision..then her vision seem pretty close to gospel accounts..regaurdless of how anti-semetic she was or was portrayed to be... mel imo, stayed pretty close to the accounts of those finals hours found in the gospels...

i dont think it matters much who is number 3 or 4..after the first week days off screw up everything anyways...its not like everytime buehrle takes the mound he faces the other teams number one and everytime wright/cotts whoever takes the mound they are facing the other teams number 5...its all jumbled up anyways... whichever guy has had better lifetime success against the yanks should get that start

cw..i wonder because of your extensive biblical studies that maybe you missed the point being caught up in all the innacuracies....maybe the movie isnt meant for someone who already is really giving their life to the lord...maybe its for guys like me who are struggling everyday to get to a point where we can put God's wishes ahead of our own...seeing the passion depicted so graphically might be a motivator for alot of us...

i saw it at loews at the streets of woodfield and no one walked out that i saw...after the movie there were afew people crying but not as many as ithought would have...i think by now people have heard enough about the movie to prepare themselves a little bit better

cw..i saw the movie tonight too...looks like we are gonna be about as diametrically opposed on this as we are on abortion... ..cant believe we saw the same movie.. sorry in advance as ill probably run on into a long post first...of course it was violent...but no one is going to tell me that it was anymore violent than the real thing...its a historical fact that many people died from scourgings alone...i actually feel mel held back a little on the actual violence...i was under the impression that about 1:45 of this movie was brutal beatings and about 15 minutes was actual story about his trial and flashbacks on Christ's life...the actual scourging and cruxifiction was probably less than half the movie..atleast it felt that way... jim caviezal did an awesome job as Jesus...will most certainly go down as his greatest work ever...if hollywierd has the guts they should hand him the oscar right now....his portayal of suffering and forgivness was not of this world...i dont know caviezal's faith but if he prayed for God to help him play the role as close to Christ as possible i believe God answered that prayer...just my feeling on the jews looking haggared and snaggletooth..well alot did.. not all of them..but so did the roman foot soldiers...check out the teeth on the one's scourging Jesus..nasty...the portryal of the jewish high priests were stunning imo...the clothes they wore were beautiful.....though pilate was probably the best looking one there...but with the position of power he held im sure he had access to everything of the day to make him look like that..he had to be an example of roman superiority to get the position in the first place...it looked like gibson placed alot of emphasis with regaurds to looks on positions of power with both the jews and the romans...not just singling out the jews...the roman foot soldiers were ugly and nasty..outside of how barrabas was portrayed (he was hideous) they were the worst looking of the bunch...king herrod came off looking and acting like a freak the devil was awesome (hear me out please )...i believe it was a woman that played the devil and she was made to actually be attractive in an evil sort of way...if that makes sense...it puts to rest this vison of a pitchfork and horns..she was cunning , sly , really in an odd sense beautiful...you could see how tempting the devil could really be...the devil is the ruler of this world and gibson did a great job of driving that point with how he portrayed the devil...though all its cunning and wyles the devil was powerless to stop its own damnation...it really was enlightening to me... the best scenes to me in the movie were the two that showed Jesus interacting with his mother...the first was showed him at work as a carpenter...building a perfect table for a rich man that hired him...its a playful scene with his mother as she offers him some water and he spills some on her...the second was when fell carrying the cross and then there is flashback scene to when Jesus was a child and he fell and mary rushed to comfort him...she tries to comfort him again but this time of course she is helpless to really do anything...that point really hit hard for me..i actually had a few tears run down my cheeks...the violence didnt get to me..but those two scenes mixed in with the violence did...i felt more more of mary's pain than i did Jesus...it was beautiful the way her love for her son was depicted.. right before this started i took the advice of a friend and just prayed to God to clear my mind of any prejudices i had and to just let whatever the Lord feels i should take from the movie happen...i believe thats a good way for anyone to see this movie... i was planning to take notes and look up all the inaccuracies (which im sure there are plenty)..but as the movie started i completely forgot about that and became engrossed in it...what i really took from it and what i hope was God's intent for me to take was to put myself in the place of the jews who were calling for cruxifiction...i had to ask myself how i would have acted???..we have the luxary of all the guidance from the new testament...the people back then didnt...they relied on the teachings of the first 5 books of the bible for the most part and what the high priests said and taught in temple... if i was a jew back then...just wandering around and heard the high priest screaming for cruxifiction for blasphemy on a man that i had no clue who he was im sure i could have got caught up in the moment..i believe any of us here would have...i would hope i would have developed some compassion for my fellow man but at that time i dont believe that was what was being taught...you were taught to follow these strict set of rules and anyone who challenged that was punished severly... if i have no prior knowledge of the teachings of Christ why wouldnt i believe the high priests???? from that i took away that it really was all of us that killed Jesus..that we all took turns nailing him to the cross..i feel like i held the hammer myself and ran a spike through His hand...i hope thats what the good Lord intended me to take from it..

no no no no no first off..any 14 or 15 year old girl that gets pregnant (outside of a rape) should expect their parents to be pissed..to go apes*** as you say...every parent would have a right to be extremely upset with thier daughter for that...its part of taking responsibility...you dont expect the parents to say...ohh look honey , our 14 year old daughter is sexually active and now shes gonna have a baby..yipeee...lets party!!!... but because something might upset the parents YOU CAN NOT TAKE AWAY THEIR RIGHT TO PARENT THEIR CHILDREN... a 14 year old girl in no way is mature enough to make a decision like abortion...do you know what kind of problems that leads to when those girls become adults and have to deal with the fact that they killed their unborn child??? when you have kids approaching sexually active years you'll understand

if they did lose tax-exempt status im sure the vatican would help out...they could afford it w/o much hardship... the question is has there been enough violations of the law to warrant the catholic church being penalized and losing its tax exempt status???...any tax exempt organization should consider that a priveledge and not a right...and conduct itself accordingly... now i dont think the acts of a few bad priests should cause the church to lose its status or be punished (other than the guilty priests)... but where the church fails is their blatant disregaurd for the harm their priests , working as leaders in the church ,caused to other humans..it was criminal behavior punishable by the law....... the obstruction of justice committed all over the country by numerous parrishes by just reassigning the priests to other parrishes to continue this behavior of hurt and not report the priest to the authorities for their criminal activity is unexcusable...for that reason i believe if the government ever decided to remove their tax exempt status i wouldnt have a problem with it... the church , as a tax exempt organization , has a responsibility to follow the laws of the land they are practicing in so long as those laws do not violate their right to worship freely..in this case nobody could argue the church's rights would have been violated if the guilty priess were turned over to the authorities for prosecustion along with any evidence...the catholic church failed miserably in this area.and deserves punishment imo...

rex..why was strumm brought up to birmingham last year???...looks like in A ball he was strugling...less than a k per inning (he's a power pitcher right??) and he gave up more hits than IP...that doesnt warrant a promotion in my eyes... since he was coming off surgery i dont about the numbers so much but it seems like he should have just been left down in A ball to build up his confidence and be able to work back to form... just thought it was kinda wierd i guess to promote him based his performance

that does bring up an interesting point...if gay marriage is legalized will gay sex have to be then taught as part of sex education in public schools????... maybe there is a way out of this then...tie in gay marriages and school vouchers...gay marriage is legal but then everyone gets vouchers to send their kids to the school of their choice... if we are gonna have choice...abortion , gay marriage ect..then shouldnt that choice be extended to the type of education our children want???

does anyone even listen to stern anymore??....i used to watch his radio show on cable on i thinks its E network...how many times can you listen to female porn stars talk about having sex with other female porn stars???....every show is the same thing over and over...i watched for about a month ..the last few weeks just was just curiousity to see if the topic would ever change..doesnt it get old???.... its like watching maury povich (my wife loves that show..yuk)..every show is the same..hidden cameras in the green room catching a guy trying to hit on the planted hottie while his wife/girlfriend watches on the monitor...by now wouldnt the guys catch on that they are being set up??...of course they would..its the dumbasses leader the dumberasses
