rex..the timing is kinda of odd dont you think...giambi picks this year of all years to lose upper body weight???... to me thats kind of a warning sign...and thats why MLB needs a REAL drug testing policy...so these kinds of rumors and thoughts can be put to rest...it would be a shame if giambi never used and all his achievements were legit but there was this dark cloud over him anyways (and all others in his position) we know a lot of players cheat..we dont have a percentage but its enough to warrant baseball to start to at least do something....now with all the power records being broken it is important for the fans to question anyone who looks suspicous imo...it puts pressure on players who dont cheat to help clean up their sport..or at least it should...

good point...set up man often face tougher situations than closers....closer always start the inning so any mess they cause is their own making...not the case with set up men

koch will be force feed down our thoats yas...this is how the sox work..they paid this guy big bucks so they will do everything in their power to prove they made the right move...they stuck with clayton for almost 2 years..mark my words..koch will start the season as the closer...imagine koch trying to hold a one run lead against the yankmees?? for those who think cooper will be able to teach koch movement...dont you think if that was possible somebody in toronto or oakland would have accomplished that already???

no active players and only major leaguers...that eliminates some on your list campy or berra..i chose berra dimaggio was the toughest to leave off but dont you think mays , cobb , speaker , and mantle were 4 CF better than dimaggio???..duke snyder , another CF , he wasnt as good as dimaggio joe jackson probably should have been one of my left fielders..replace stargell whitey ford??...over grove , spahn , koufax and even the babe??..no way...if billy peirce and whitey ford switched team pierce would have won 300 games..maybe brooks over eddie mathews???..mathews hits over 521 homers , 271 avg and brooks 268 homers , 267 average...his defense was great but his numbers on offense were weak for a hall of famer... bob gibson (251 - 174 , 2.91) over tom seaver(311 - 205 , 2.86)???..this was close but seaver with over 300 wins has to be taken over gibson..since they pitched in the same era its an easy comparision.. satchel paige...its unfortunate he didnt pitch in the majors in his prime but his major league record was 28 - 31... greenburg..hall of famer but how could you take him (331 - 1276 - 313) over foxx (534 - 1922 - 325) , sisler (102 - 894* - 340) * no record for rbi in his first 5 years) , (493 - 1995 - 340) or mccovey (521 - 1555 - 270)... i think i got everyone...joe jackson was on i forgot...

thats why i said it depends why you are in college....im back in school right now for one thing...get my degree and get a job...im not bothering with any of the periphial stuff...just focusing in on what i need to do to graduate.. i wouldnt expect anythingless than chisoxygirl argueing her butt off

i hope so...hearing ozzie at soxfest i was pretty impressed (at least what i understood )..i think he will do alright..maybe better...
-
id have to disagree...just because the cubs have been marketing their team the right way since 1980..and the sox have been a PR disaster all through the riensey era...going to cablevison when about 25% of chicago was wired for cable killed the sox..meanwhile the cubs broadcast free in chciago over the air and go superstaion on cable...that was the beginning of the end.. it will take a good decade of outplaying and out marketing the acrubs to start winning fans back..or a world series
-
those numbers are way too high to project on reed at this point...he started last year in A ball....if he hits 250 this year at charlotte he will fall off the radar...its crazy to project those numbers on a guy thats probably 2 years away.. btw..do we have any infield prospects that have any chance at all???
-
either way would have been alright with me..one gets opening day and the other the home opener...no biggie
-
yes it was the illustrious joe valentinE it was a shoiw where they took a cub fan and a sox fan and gave them 3 minutes to make a deal...the sox were in contention in '01 and the scrubs were out of it...so the trade we came to was clement for malone , valentine and a player to be named later...like a class A player....i cant remember who the host was on the show..it was on the score , black guy that always insulted his guests..remember him??..he said giving away 3 players for 1 was stupid...ill have to figure out who it was..if he is still here ill call him back
-
12-18 months..wow i need to call up that idiot at the score...in '01 i said id trade corwin malone ,joe valentin and a prospect to be named later for matt clement (they had a cub fan and sox fan making deals with each other)..he told me i was nuts and said the cub fan won that deal..
-
it was in my time and i didnt really understand it either...a cult classic for sure..people uased to dress up as characters from the movie and then go to the theatres and act out the lines...throw garbage at the screen..peope, would see it hundreds of times.. whatever floats ya boat
-
well see what kind of manager ozzie makes the day kenny williams walks in the clubhouse turning over tables and stuff like he did in cleveland one game...how does ozzie react??...does he stand by and let kenny rant and rave...or tell him to get the (fill in your own sentence enhancer ) out of my clubhouse.. if he stands by and does nothing then the players will lose respect for him just like they did for manuel...ozzie has to create an us vrs the world mentality..the US being him and his players...not upper management or anyone else..if he succeeds in that then the players will play for him and probably overcome most of his rookie mistakes JMO

Rob Neyer: Babe Ruth the Best Ballplayer Ever
baggio202 replied to C.Rector's topic in Pale Hose Talk
in his first 5 years with boston babe ruth only had 618 at bats.. a little over 100 a season... he is the only guy that could go into the hall as an every day player and a pitcher too!! at age 38 he started one game for the yankees on the mound it was a complete game victory!!! 1923 was probably his best year..41 homers , 393 BA the guy carried a 545 OBp and a 764 slg pct.. there is no doubt imo he was the best ever -
oh god no...havent we sox fans suffered enough

pretty much what soxfan420 said...that piece of paper is pretty important to alot of employers...
