Bears Draft Pick Poll
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) Do you trust Angelo to pick an offensive player? Do you trust Lovie Smith to develop an offensive player? Who would you prefer your new young draft pick playing under, Ron Rivera or Terry Shea? Lets say we draft Williams or Edwards. Our offensive line needs drastic improvement for him to make an impact. High pick WR's are no guarantee. Last year he was projected below Fitzgerald, Roy Williams, and probably slightly above Reggie Williams. REC YDS AVG LNG TD Reggie 27 268 9.9 26 1 Roy 54 817 15.1 46 8 Now either Williams or Edwards would probably put up numbers in this area. But it will most likely be lower, because neither are as talented as Roy, but both should not do as bad as Reggie. As for the Bears CBs, I think Tillman could be a legitimate 1-2, but he is still very raw and Im not sure if in a playoff game I would be 100% comfortable with him on Moss, etc for a whole game. Azumah is still learning, and I think that a 3rd cb is a perfect position for him. He would cover slot recievers where he could match them with his quickness, and generally be against less talented recievers. Also I think 3 good to great cbs are a necessity for any defensive football team. Vasher then becomes the 4th cb, or even potentially fs if ever the Bears wanted to move Brown to SS. This also will give them a very deep unit if injuries should arise, so that they are not forced to watch RW flail his arms around hoping that he will hit the ball as it falls over his head. To think that the Bears will make a good pick with an offensive player is to deny history. We might as well get our moneys worth, and try and sign veteran free agents for offense who can run a system. Great defense with mediocre offense wins games. SB The bears offense is FAR from mediocre, they are dead last in the league for that matter.. They need to get Grossman a weapon, and Mike Williams, Braylon Edwards, and Mark Clayton would all be very good fits for them.. Williams is in a Keyshawn Johnson mold, except he has a better attitude.. Braylon really broke out this year and was a very very good WR and theres really no reason to suspect he wouldnt be good in the pros.. I think he has a better upside than Terrell coming out of college.. And Mark Clayton, he is an amazing deep threat and AMAZING after the catch, hes a burner.. Personally I think they need to trade down and get more picks and grab Clayton, but sitting at #4 they are going to have a lot of options to play with..

Official Beat the FudgePackers But Need A
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) Alright, let's us (I know, doesn't make sense) Bears/football fans play general manager(s) here. (Post your thoughts on each of the four top picks). With the first pick in the draft, the San Fran 49ers select...... Hmm... are they content with Rattay/Dorsey? I doubt they go RB, Barlow is solid. They're alright at WR with Lloyd/Wilson, but they can use improvement. They seem like a team that needs a LOT of improvement, thus, I can definitely see them trading down. Then again, Antrelle Rolle or Corey Webster would probably be good picks for their defense, too. My bold prediction: They trade their pick down to one of the other 31 teams in the NFL... With the second pick in the draft, the Miami Dolphins select..... Cedrick Benson, and there's my bold prediction. Their defense is kick ass, and their QB's would be a lot better if they had an NFL running back behind them. Then again, Steel and Rowand could comment better on this situation. With the third pick in the draft, the Cleveland Browns select...... I have no idea on this one. I assume they go defense, with them taking Winslow JR last year, as well as Garcia and Green at QB and RB respectively. As long as they don't take Mike Williams, I'll be happy. With the fourth pick in the draft, the Chicago Bears select...... Mike Williams. If he's on the board at four, I cannot see any way in hell how the Bears can pass him up. This team hasn't had an offensive weapon as good as Williams can be since (can I say since Payton) him. Thoughts on the first four picks, ladies and gentlemen? Your predictions? I like the pick, and I also think thats what it will be but you dont draft RB's that high Miami will almost surely trade down before they take Benson at #2

Bears Draft Pick Poll
Also, Muhammed is going to be 32 this next season, Chicago would be in much better shape if they traded down a bit and picked up one of the big 3 names at WR in this draft instead of signing someone who may only be around a few years.. Plus they would most likely come at a cheaper and more cap friendly contract

Bears Draft Pick Poll
QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) Sign a Free Agent WR or two. Trade down for two 1st round picks. Select a OL and then a LB. 2nd round, select a DB. It's so simple! The only teams that have 2 first round picks as of now are San Diego and Dallas and Chicago would have to fight Miami in that department because I am almost positive that Miami will be trading down from the #2 spot in this draft.., And if Rodgers and Leinart come out, thats only better news for Miami because if teams fall in love with one of them they will be looking to move up to grab them.. and Dallas may just be one of those teams with Vinny at the end of his career and the fact that they are not satisfied with Henson and dont think he is the answer for them

Bears Draft Pick Poll
QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) Do the bears really need another CB? Tillman, Azumah, Vasher, and McQuarters if we still want him.... thats a solid group no? Considering this might be the worst offense to ever hit the field in the NFL... dont you go offense early and often? Nah they dont need a QB, they would be stupid not to draft a young WR that Grossman will be able to grow with.. They lack in the WR department especially after moving booker.. WR needs to be the way they go.. And yes, Kiper only ranks seniors, he does not rank the juniors.. so what your lookin at from him so far is just senior rankings as of now

Vince Young
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 10:02 PM) Young is good and all, but damn Vick is a horrible throwing QB and you say he is not as good of a runner. If Young was a better runner than he must either be the worst throwing QB known to man or he would be able to run around NFL defenders the way Vick does. :rolly I guess I'll back down. Then again we are dealing with all biased opinions here so whatever. Stop putting words in my mouth.. I never once said Vick was not a good runner.. I said that he is a BELOW AVERAGE QB.. WHICH he is and its a slap in the face of QB's around the league that he made the Pro Bowl with his like 26th ranked QB Rating

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) We need Zona to win to move up to 5. I dont see Miami winning, and if Tenn. wins, we beat them so we would still get the 5th pick I think. It doesnt matter if you beat Tennessee, it has to do with SOS Tennessee beat Miami, and if they are tied Tennessee picks before Miami due to SOS.. I dont like the SOS rule I think it should be head to head results THEN SOS

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) Depends on what a few other teams do, and how tiebreakers fall. Tie breakers have to do with Strength of Schedule.. so the Bears COULD move, but it wont be known till after all the games have been played

QUOTE (Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 02:06 AM) Yeah -- we'll have to wait until sportscenter to see it again. just shows you how close that game was. after 59+ minutes, it comes down to a final FG, and Mich. gets a piece of it -- Just not enough. Yeah I was getting a little worried when Michigan was up by 10, but they pulled it out

You must have missed JaMarcus Russell come in and dominate.. he only threw like 3 incompletions.. LSU was 9 - 2 going into the game only losing the Auburn and Georgia, both away games, and do you know how young LSU is? They will be returning 18 starters next season, and they are so stacked with talent.. They did way better than some expected this season, and should have won this game if it wasnt for blown coverage by a safety who obviously had no idea what he was supposed to be doing..

Vince Young
hahaha... well now its time to watch Utah murder Pittsburgh Vince Young had a great game tonight, he won the game for them
