  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Remember he was injured, which pretty much set him back at least a year in terms of progression. He is a great athlete and is the fastest guy in the system, imo. The big question is whether he's finally put things together with his swing. Thus far it sounds like he has. I understand he is 'raw' and skipped high A, but you yourself called him a 4th OFer. I guess what I'm asking is why is he not projected higher.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) I was actually hoping he would be our future leadoff man... a Podsenick in grooming. From everything I've heard, he is nowhere near close to that good as a hitter, little as a stolen base threat. He is 24 after all.
  4. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) two minutes. got to the Morse Code. Stopped.
  5. What a waste of time.

  7. Young, Gio, Liotta highlighted in BA's Prospect Pulse Everybody seems to be glowing about Young right now. What do you guys think his assignment will be next year? Is there any chance he could make the big league club out of camp or will he be playing CF for the Knights next year?
  8. Rogowski is milb.com's Star of the Day
  9. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:26 PM) College players with his level of experience need to succeed in High-A before I'm going to get excited out of the box, IMO... I agree. I just like that kind of player though.
  10. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) Kanny wins 7-6, Getz 4-4 with 3 BB. Holy s***. On base all 7 plate appearances? That's insane. I knew this guy would tear up the lower levels, but it's becoming hard for me to not get excited over this guy.
  11. By all accounts Sickels' list is horrible. I'd say for preseason 1-16 is pretty solid. I have a few minor quibbles (Tracey a tad too low, Gio too high). I can see Ricks at 17, we had him a few spots lower on the FutureSox preseason list. 18-20 are just terrible selections. Reynoso has to put up some production to be considered any kind of decent prospect in my book (heck his stock may have raised by a good start despite crappy last while). Gray was fringe at best and Ulacia was a non-prospect going into the year. FS will have a midseason top 20 out sometime next week. We have the list made and we are just working on getting some quick writeups in.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) He's probably one of my favorite prospects. Plus his first name rocks.
  13. Use that change and your gold! LOL
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) Yeah true that, I'd like to see what he could do in Kanny right now, but the Sox have done a good job in the last couple of seasons with the draft. It's too early to tell. The 2004 draft is looking a lot worse than it did going into the year. Whisler is struggling mightily, Lumsden hasn't pitched all year, and Fields isn't thriving like we'd hoped. With that said, Lucy is looking better and the other top picks are looking even better (Gio, Liotta). Ultimately you can't say until 5 years down the road, but I still like the 04 draft better talent wise.
  15. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) SportsPage? Sports show (duh) on CLTV, don't think you get it out in hickland.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) did I say not getting more money makes sense, Even if Jordan does bad in college and likelyhood is he is going to do good, He is going to get a big contract when he enters the draft. Now if his brother John Danks didnt already get the 2.1 million his family could of said we needed the money and les not risk an injury going to college. It's true that guys get calls, but it's bulls*** that it happens. Freaking Pedro game in Boston a few years back when one of the coaches for the Sox spazzed out. He grabbed a towel on the ground and point how wide the zone was, pure comedy. Sirotka dueled with Pedro and the Sox (I think Foulke ironically) gave up a run in the 9th.
  17. Cleveland is a horribly run franchise. Redd should stay away from that train wreck. Milwaukee has some promise with Ford back and the pick of Bogut.
  18. It's Curt Schilling as I suspected.
  19. Tracey and Reynoso to SL All-Star game! Link Munoz wins IL Pitcher of the Week Also, Leo Daigle was named Carolina League Player of the Month.
  20. QUOTE(minorsfan @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 07:56 AM) Well I know I don't post too often but believe me when I did post this I did so after confirmation from a very reliable "source". I don't like rumors especially on the net so I made sure this was 100% true before choosing to bring it to this board. It is certainly your right to be suspicious since I am not a regular poster. I am telling you I only post "confirmed" info. But if you don't believe Ozzie well I guess all I can tell you is wait til you see him in uniform. BTW... There is a press release on the Official White Sox website. As Heads said it had a lot to do with a previous Jenks rumor falling through. He was supposed to be headed to Charlotte, but the Sox pulled back on that for some reason. It had nothing to do with who posted it, but rather the player mentioned. You know, 'fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.' You were right anyway, so we'll trust you more from now on.
  21. Looking at the list everyone can be satisfied by at least a few of the bands. That's what impressed me about it. I don't care for the Beatles or Elton John or Annie Lennox. Meanwhile, The Who, Pink Floyd, Coldplay, heck even the Killers are there that I like among others. If I was to make a list of a dozen bands for my all time concert most of those wouldn't be there, but a few of them would.

Ok so who didn't think it had something to do with Podsednik?
  23. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) Topic is pinned, gees Dan you wrote this up very quick I gotta say. Thanks. Well, I gotta admit I kinda cheated. The paragraph about Jenks' stuff is half of Jason's writing from an article he archived when we thought Jenks was going to Charlotte. As for the other news stuff I keep small tidbits like that on note so when big enough news come I can tag those along all ready to go.
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) Well, interesting move but I'm really, really excited to see Bobby pitch. Anyone think Kenny has something against the futures game, we always have 1 or 0 guys there. Yeah no s***. Plus Munoz hardly counts last year so we had nobody. I had already hated him at that time (and still do). Maybe we can get a replacement guy in there.
  25. ATO: Jenks to Chicago, McCarthy Back to Charlotte Barons closer to join Sox replacing McCarthy on active roster Bobby Jenks, a right handed fireballer, has been promoted to the Chicago White Sox. Ozzie Guillen announced in the post game press conference after the 4th of July 10-8 win over Tampa Bay that Jenks, 24, would be headed to Chicago to add some depth to the bullpen. To make room for him Brandon McCarthy was sent down to AAA Charlotte due to the fact that the Sox don’t need a 5th starter. McCarthy pitched 3+ innings in Monday night’s game giving up five runs on eight hits and one walk. In five starts this season Brandon is 0-1 with an 8.14 ERA. With the Knights McCarthy is 3-7 with a 5.48 ERA in 11 starts. more...
