QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) Oh I read it wrong I thought he still had a chance to be grabbed... Didnt someone say Honel was hitting 90 in his last start? Yeah, they probably just needed room on the 40-man and knew Honel has no shot of making the Sox this year and wouldn probably not get picked up.

ATO: Honel Taken Off 40-Man, All-Star Announcements Honel out righted to Birmingham RHP Kris Honel was out righted to AA Birmingham today in what could be a set up move to allow someone else on the 40-man roster for the Sox. Either a guy like Jamie Burke or Greg Norton will be put on the 40-man in order to be the backup 1st baseman or a trade could be in the works where extra room on the 40-man was needed. The White Sox 40-man roster currently stands at 39. more...

I'm thinking a first base replacement that needs to be put on the 40 man roster is coming up. Norton, Burke?

Six Hogs Make it to Car/Cali All Star Game Oh and Cook made the SAL All-Star game too.

Super Regionals underway! Right now on ESPN2 Nebraska is leading Miami 2-1. Carrillo is pitching for Miami. He has given up a HR, which is a rarity for him. Carrillo looks polished, but really doesn't impress me.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) You can't grade drafts before anyone plays in the system. You can grade off perceived value as Palehose said. With that said, signing the guys is more important than simply drafting them so I don't think you can even grade on perceived value until everybody is signed.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) I think baseball should do what basketball does with the draft... allow players to get only a certain amount of money when drafted. That way any team can afford any player. Nah, I like it this way better because there are HS guys who have college commits and can be lured away from college with $$. Teams aren't going to pick them where they belong talent wise if they know they may not be able to sign him and the player won't sign if he doesn't get the money he deserves.

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:39 AM) Damn straight! Exactly how I felt about that.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) And I also believe that Anderson is ready. Anderson is close to ready, but he is in a bit of a slump. His average is at like .289 or something, the lowest I can remember it being at all year. I think the Sox should give him the call in September and see what he can do. Anderson needs to get called up during a solid streak, not a (semi) cold streak. As for Rogo, he's nowhere near ready. He's definitely come into his own though. While Rogo's power numbers aren't great, he does have 17 doubles and 24 extra base hits. Look for a good amount of those doubles to turn into HRs in Charlotte and Comiskey.

QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) Cerb- I would love for you to try to do an interview with Jordan Danks... Im hoping that the Sox will sign him... IF the Sox sign him, we'll try and get something. We've worked on getting stuff with Brooks (3rd round) and Getz (4th round) but no success yet.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 09:39 PM) has Sweeney hit a HR this season yet? No, he's slugging at a .335 rate.

Charlotte lost 5-1. Box Score Barons tied 5-5 mid 8. HRs for Young, Stewart, and Gray. Hogs off. Kanny won 6-2 behind my sleeper prospect, Adam Russell. Balanced offense, every player reached base. Box Score

I decided to register and see what the article said. It was free and I used fake info. We knew this going in. This is not news. Time to see what an offer does to him.
-
I want to at least see who they sign before I even grade how they drafted for value, little how the guys turn out.

Everett Iguchi Rowand Dye Uribe Scott Pod Crede Frank Politte White Sox! Whew, that was a lot! Nice to get a sweep! Look at the box score...the only 0's in the hit column for the Sox belong to Shingo, Vizcaino, and Marte. LOL!

CBSSportline predicts the All-Star rosters
danman31 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That would be nice. I think all are deserving. -
Knights lost 6-1. BMac's start wasn't good as mentioned. Anderson 1-3, BB, run. Box Score Barons were off. 'Hogs fall short on late rally losing 10-9. Daigle 2 more HRs. Carlos Lee also with a HR, .368 for him. Whisler got rocked. Box Score Kanny won 4-2. Just 8 hits between the teams. Cook went 1-1 with 4 walks. That says enough that he should be promoted. He is so hot that no one wants to pitch to him. Box Score

QUOTE(bulokis @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) BMAC gave up 6 runs in 4 innings pitched. He is struggling right now. Do you guys think its a good idea to send him down to AA but I know most of the better prospects are in AA. No. In the start @ Indy his stuff overpowered the hitters, but he blew up late. Unfortunately I missed the blow up, but he's fine in AAA. Moving him down will serve no purpose IMO.

I updated the list of draft picks with position and school breakdown.

And the draft is over. I'm proud to say I bailed after about 10 rounds today LOL. The FutureSox writers will have more player info and continued updates on signings over the next few days.

QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) I can't help it... Does he have the same upside and the same promise as Joe Borchard? Sorry couldn't help it. We got burned on giving borchard big money, we won't chase this guy. They wouldn't have picked him if they weren't going to bother negotiating and offer 7 figures.

Here's the catcher a lot had been waiting for: Round 27: Daniel Jordan, C, Broward CC (again) He's a 6 ft 190 lb righty.
-
Another JC pitcher. Round 26: Anthony Carter, RHP, Georgia Perimeter CC Body similar to Kevin Brown. Athletic RHP w/quick, strong arm. FB arm side run, occassional cut life. Establishes FB, likes to work inside. Late, sharp break slider w/some tilt. Feel for straight change. Around plate w/all pitches. Arm strength w/projectable body.
-
Round 25: Andrew Beatty, LHP, West Aurora HS Local kid to the Sox. MLB.com scouting report: Medium, athletic frame. Broad shoulders. Arm works easy. Strong lower half. Good body. Maintains arm speed w/occassional good depth, deception circle change. Effective to LHH and RHH. Around plate w/3 pitches from wind-up.
