  1. We've got Reed and Borchard doing well in AAA. If Maggs leaves money can be spent elsewhere. Of course if Reed and Borchard don't produce we won't be able to replace him.
  2. While I do think the MLB Draft on tv would be cool, it's not really needed and would have little meaning to almost everyone who watches.
  3. Paz and Torres were in season acquisitions. Smith seems to be a AAAA guy. He does pretty well in AAA, but never puts it together in the Majors. He has been in AAA since 96 while spending all of 98 doing pretty well for the D Rays. Other than that he has seen limited time in the Majors and has struggled when given a chance. Bell is a similar case, bouncing around from org. to org.
  4. Of course it is, but the point is that hockey's draft is televised and baseball's isn't.
  5. College baseball gets as much coverage as college hockey yet the hockey draft is televised.
  6. I occasionally am able to do the sports show we have, but we have a lot of people that want on. I get to announce a pretty good amount of sporting events that go on the radio and/or our tv channel.
  7. Well if trades would be entered into the draft then it would work out because teams would be on the phone discussing trades. This would take that extra time needed. Even if there is only 1 minute per pick there wouldn't be an issue.
  8. Wow, Glenbrook North has a WAY better radio studio. DGN looks ghetto.
  9. Borchard and Nanita Earn Player of the Week Honors Top outfield prospects make some noise By Danny Santaromita Joe Borchard was named International League Batter of the Week for the week of May 17-23. A first round pick in 2000, Borchard hit .452 with a slugging percentage of 1.065, five HRs, 18 RBI, and seven runs. Meanwhile, fellow outfielder Ricardo Nanita won the Carolina League award with a .563 batting average and a slugging percentage of 1.125. Borchard has raised his batting average to .288 after a dismal start. He has a chance to take over in center field for Aaron Rowand if Rowand struggles. Borchard's recent hot streak has lifted him back to the level of an elite prospect in the Sox system, but skeptics would like to see him continue the hot play over a longer course of time. On the year the 25 year-old has nine HRs, 35 RBI, and 15 runs. Borchard has huge potential to be a great power hitter in the Majors. The Sox are hoping Borchard will be able to step in and contribute to the team this season and in the future. His record signing bonus put a lot of pressure on his shoulders that he has yet to match. Nanita has struggled much of this season after dominating at Great Falls last season. He exploded this week capped by an 8-8 series against first place Kinston. Nanita was beginning to see his playing time cut when Darren Blakely was demoted from Birmingham for Normand Martel. Responding to the change Nanita went on a tear. The 22 year-old raised his batting average to .246, but despite not hitting all that well he has produced for the Warthogs. He is third in the team with 27 RBI and 4th with 7 stolen bases. Having skipped low-A Kannapolis, Nanita has reason to start off the season slowly. His performance shows the ability and potential he possesses. Fellow top outfield prospects on the Warthogs' roster, Brian Anderson and Ryan Sweeney, have both shown improvement as the season has gone on after skipping Kannapolis like Nanita. -------- I know it's old news, but it needed to be put on the site.
  10. I think the problem is that baseball has the lowest turnout rate of any major sport from its draft. Football and basketball players go right to the league. Hockey players are picked from minor leagues so they are closer than baseball players when drafted.
  11. That joke is better when referring to priests.
  12. Wow that sucks. I don't really feel like posting some 16 box scores right now.
  13. It's hard to clinch when you are in 2nd place. The Phillies are overrated.
  14. Can you say Web Gem? That was a great play by Willie. I really don't think Uribe faked him out. I think he just fell when he realized he had to go back to 2nd. Rauch has been solid. Hopefully he can become our 5th starter. So far, so good. Of course we said that about Diaz and we gave up on him so quickly.
  15. Go cry about it. He has had a good year and you are b****ing over one at bat.
  16. I think it's because the announcers are talking about more stuff and showing different clips between pitches. Instead of talking about the game, they will talk about the players because it's a national audience. People don't know as much about these teams as White Sox fans would on a local broadcast.
  17. Ross Gload! He pegs out Figgons who was trying to stretch a single into a double.
  18. How can you not have FOX? It's a free channel....
  19. 3 or 4 days of box scores that I posted are gone. WTF?
  20. As I realized they will not win the division, you can't give up hope. That's not what being a fan is about.
  21. Radke's line tonight (technically last night, whatever): 7 IP, 1 run, 4 K, 0 BB, 7 hits. Just face it, no good can come from your avatar. It will work against you no matter what. Maybe you should get rid of your avatar. Your curse goes beyond reverse psychology.
  22. How can you be happy and disappointed at the same time?
  23. Baj gave up his 1st run since April 14. Wow, what a streak. Damn shame it was a blown save and that Bham lost. His ERA doubled.
  24. His delivery is quite cheap. I don't how they let it go. He pauses midway into his motion.
