  1. I wouldn't bet on it. The guy in AAA that is coming out of nowhere is Andre Rienzo. He's been lighting up AAA over his last 10 starts.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 6, 2013 -> 12:43 AM) My guess is his 98 innings in high school ball involved a fair amount of abuse. You don't often see high school pitchers get that high in IP without frequently pitching on short rest, high pitch counts, etc. With 7 inning games and an ERA of 0 I don't think pitch count was a factor. Short rest, however...
  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 11:46 PM) I'm guessing it's just because of college high school. Next year he should be starting and going 5-6 innings each time. Fixed. Doesn't change things much, but worth noting.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 08:27 PM) Thompson and Herbek to Charlotte... According to?
  5. Let the moves flow. This should be the only exciting month of the season for Sox fans.
  6. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 06:47 PM) Micah Johnson is having one of the best offensive seasons in the entire minor leagues...I can't see how he doesn't rate ahead of Sanchez, and in fact I would put him behind only E. Johnson, Hawkins, Thompson, Anderson, and perhaps now Zapata. Take it easy on Micah. He's having a great year, yes, but he's 22 and in Low-A.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 07:54 PM) Rienzo's ERA is 1.81 over his last 7 starts. IP- 44.2 H- 39 ER- 9 BB- 13 K- 48 Yeah, quietly he's been on a roll lately. It might be time to think about him getting a shot in the bigs sometime this year.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 11:13 AM) He'll be 17 in two months. No one would blink an eye about a 17 year old high school senior getting picked in the first couple rounds of the draft and being included on a list. A player turning 17 in two months would be a high school junior in the fall. That's two years of separation.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 1, 2013 -> 08:19 AM) Sox signed an NDFA, Dane Opel, outfielder (CF) from Mizzou. 22 years old last month, so on the younger side for a 4-year college guy. Put up good numbers at MU. Yeah, he was one of few bright spots for the Tigers during his time there. He got off to a good start his freshman year, being a rare freshman position player to earn regular playing time, but was up and down after that. He has some power and can play respectable D. I wouldn't expect him to do enough in pro ball to become a prospect though.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 08:59 PM) That was a perfectly placed rocket IMO, not gonna put too much blame on the goalie for that one. Perfectly placed because the goalie was out of position. If the goalie is where he's supposed to be that spot isn't open.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 1, 2013 -> 03:19 PM) Finished The Last of Us. What a game. I'd give it a 9/10, but I can understand why some people didn't think it was GOAT-worthy. All minor complaints for an otherwise excellent game. I still think it's a smidge behind Uncharted 2 as the best of the generation for the PS3, but pretty close. Naughty Dog knocked it out of the park again. It's not my favorite game ever, but it's the game I'm telling the most people to play. I think everyone can enjoy what's good about this game whereas some games I've loved are too 'gamey' with cliche gameplay elements that don't appeal to everyone. This game has those, but they seem to fit better and, oh yeah, the tension. It's so much more tense than any other game I've ever played.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 07:51 PM) That 2nd goal of the game by Neymar was nasty. No it wasn't. A goalie should never get beat near post.
  13. Iker Casillas with a disastrous game. Showing why he was benched at Real Madrid. Both soft goals.
  14. Regarding Phegley, let's not forget that catchers sit. It's not an everyday position. It's a most days position. There could be something else going on or it could just be that they feel they overworked him early and are trying to give him a midseason break of sorts.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 10:08 PM) Very rarely do they move a player from Bristol to GF in-season. That's a long trip to put someone on, for essentially no change in level of competition. The Sox use the two rookie teams for different purposes, but the leagues themselves aren't vastly different, so it doesn't buy you anything. Sometimes they shift a few guys if Great Falls is going to make the playoffs.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 12:41 PM) It's irrelevant that the White Sox are the only team in the last decade, that has taken a high school player, a position prospect...and we're not even talking a TOP TEN pick, but a mid first rounder and pushed him to High A in the same season he was drafted and also placed him in High A to start the following season? How is that irrelevant? They're treating him in a way that no player has ever been treated before, and we should be 100% surprised by the results? There has to be SOME reason why NO OTHER TEAM has ever taken this same approach. Ryan Sweeney was in Winston-Salem to start his first full season out of high school and he's from f***ing Iowa. The tiny stint for the playoffs last year is irrelevant so Sweeney fills your requirements.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 08:21 PM) That Bristol lineup is going to have a very difficult time scoring runs, yikes It's always that way. The Sox give them the younger or lower drafted players and the team always struggles.
  18. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 05:06 PM) I know this doesn't really belong here but if we decide to trade with the Braves I think we should try to get Trenton Moses from them. He went to the same college I am currently at and he can straight out hit. He did play third but he got moved to 1st this year. He is a little older (24). He just got promted to High A after being in Low A for about 2 months. You go to SEMO? I didn't know anyone went to SEMO.
  19. Rangel Ravelo is having a nice season with the Dash. Hitting for average, drawing walks, not striking out, even mixing in an almost respectable amount of power. It's a shame he's moved to first base because if he was still at third his numbers would make him somewhat valuable.
  20. I just finished The Last of Us playing as stealthily as possible and searching for collectibles in every nook and cranny and my play through took just under 22 hours. Some of that was slinking around when I didn't know I was in the clear so it shouldn't have taken that long, but damn. I missed 49 collectibles! I don't know of any linear game taking that long to beat. Obviously playing guns blazing and ignoring collectibles you could probably do it in like 12-13, but I'm impressed with the depth and detail of that game.
  21. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 02:37 PM) Jake Sanchez having a nice start in GF after only 2 innings. 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K. 23-year-old Indy signing. Probably should move up from rookie ball.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 05:38 PM) And there is no guarantee any of those could step in and be a good closer next year (Petricka? Really?) In fairness, Petricka has been pretty good in AA this year. I don't think he's closer material and he obviously still needs to improve his control, but he's still a solid relief prospect in the high minors.
  23. I don't think you can defend putting Walker in the top 10 at this point.
  24. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 06:38 PM) I like the shorthand. Something has to be done. Zoo? I like M'zewski so far, but we need a better nickname for sure. Trey responds to the nickname question: https://twitter.com/T_Michalczewski/status/...627079413260288 Either way, it's hard not to get a little excited about 4 walks in the first 2 games from an 18 year old. Basto had a grand slam for Great Falls. Nice to see he's having a solid start.
  25. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) Well Micah suffered a strange injury after his Sophomore year, sat out his junior year and spent his senior year trying to get back in the swing of things. So while he's obviously 22, his baseball age isn't necessarily 22. Kind of like Phegley's situation. Micah was drafted as a junior. He missed the first part of that season and came back while still banged up at the end of the year.
