I never got a chance to watch him in person because he was traded before he got to B'ham, so unfortunately, I can't provide any first hand observations. I'd be curious what his gap hitting potential is, because that would make him less one dimensional and he would do well in a big park like in Oakland. But, I think Oakland would just be happy if he ended up being a cheaper, younger Jack Cust, which isn't all that far fetched.

Oakland is a good place and a good team to give a guy like Carter a chance anyway. I think they're looking at him to replace Cust as their DH. If he provides big power for Oakland and Quentin provides big power and high OBP, then it's a wash because it's what each organization wants from the player they have.

Like I said, it will take a few years to really evaluate the trade to see if Quentin will consistently produce year to year or not and if Carter will be productive in the majors or not. There's no need to be black an white about it.

I was just saying what Carter's ceiling could be, I'm not saying it was a bad trade. I just said it'll be a few years before it can be looked at.

I use to post on the Seattle Times Seahawks message board, but it became overrun with Steeler trolls for years after Super Bowl 40 and trolls in general.

I guess when Carter sees a couple of years in the majors, the trade can be evaluated better then. If he can produce the power numbers he's put up in the minors though, he could end up being a right handed poor man's Ryan Howard. As well as if Quentin can be consistent and not injury prone.

I'll echo everything everyone has said. My single solitary beef is that they want an extra $100 on top of the $250 they charge for Sunday Ticket if you want all the games in HD, Red Zone channel and game mix channel. Other than that, I love it.
