  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 30, 2009 -> 10:32 PM) Whisler's mother has to be a happy woman.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 30, 2009 -> 11:10 PM) Hernandez blew the save for the Barons, ruining another nice outing by Poreda. Birmingham Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA Poreda 6.0 7 3 2 3 7 0 2.62 Rote (H, 1) 1.1 1 1 1 2 1 0 8.74 Hernandez, F (BS, 3)(L, 1-2) 1.2 1 1 0 1 1 0 1.24 Barons lose 5-4. We got screwed by the ump.
  3. Interesting note to pass along. IF Sergio Santos, a spring training NRI for the White Sox, who was traded for future considerations to San Francisco, has been added to the Kannapolis roster as a pitcher. He somehow returned to the White Sox organization and has been in extended spring training converting to pitcher. Also, Mike Johnston was promoted to Charlotte from B'ham, Matt Zaleski was activated from B'ham's DL, Kyle Shelton was promoted to W-S from Kanny, Jorge Castillo and Santos were promoted to Kanny from extended spring training & Jordan Cheatham was reassigned to extended spring training.
  4. It's official, he's in the starting lineup for the Iowa Cubs. Case closed, the writer was wrong.
  5. The Barons now have a C.J. to C.J. double play combo.
  6. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ May 29, 2009 -> 11:04 PM) JPN, what does Whisler offer besides his mid-90's FB? I haven't seen him pitch in person in 2 years. I do remember that he struggled with command back then, but it seems he's worked it out.
  7. Good for Wes, he's a good guy, I'm happy for him. He worked hard for that promotion.
  8. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 29, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) I think we can settle that he was traded to the Cubs. C.J. Lang was promoted to B'ham to fill the open roster spot, Kyle Shelton shuffled up from Kanny to W-S, and Kanny now has an open roster spot. Kyle Shelton wasn't promoted from Kanny to W-S after all. The open roster spot is with W-S.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 29, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) That writer actually responded to me this morning, and said this: "I was told that he went to the White Sox, plain and simple. If I remember correctly, Machado has played some outfield, too." Well, then I hope he knows at 28, he's headed to low A ball. Because High A, AA & AAA rosters are full. Looking at the Iowa Cubs roster, he's more than needed there, not in the White Sox system.
  10. I think we can settle that he was traded to the Cubs. C.J. Lang was promoted to B'ham to fill the open roster spot, Kyle Shelton shuffled up from Kanny to W-S, and Kanny now has an open roster spot.
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 29, 2009 -> 12:42 AM) chisox2334 is a very credible source. (he's called two trades on this board before it was even announced if I remember) He is one of the few great ones we have. Just for the record/future of other posters before they flip out entirely. I'm not doubting anybody here. It would actually make sense for Machado to join the Barons. The Barons haven't filled the open roster spot yet, so it is likely.
  12. He was the big hero for Fresno State last year in the CWS. He played with ligamnet problems in his hand. Steve Detwiler
  13. Of course, the writer could be right too. When Gookie Dawkins was let go by Charlotte, he originally turned up on Reno's roster, but was actually with New Orleans. Reno was at home playing New Orleans, so that accounted for the confusion. Could be the same thing here. The Barons need another infielder, and Machado has been with Pittsburgh's AA team.
  14. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) Is there anyway to watch minor league games online? Or should I just wait for Becks promotion later this week? I hate Lillisuck In fact the game is available to watch online right now. It is on MiLB.tv. As are the next 4 Knights' games.
  15. I like Erin Andrews, but man, she has no a$$ at all. I'm more interested in the business end rather than the sign out front. Bonus cat fight related info, Kusinierek called out Andrews for dressing inappropriately at a Cubs/Brewers game they were both covering last year. Let your imaginations run wild.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:22 AM) Same author? Nope, can't remember who though.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:13 AM) Here is the actual source, BTW. I sent an email to the blog writer, pointing out that the guy is now on the I-Cubs, and that the Sox need another shortstop for AAA like they need a hole in their head, and that he may want to double check his info. This happened last year too. I read that Jim Brower was traded by the Reds to the White Sox, but he had actually been traded to the Cubs.
  18. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 28, 2009 -> 10:32 AM) He got it from Mlbtraderumors.com. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/05/odds...ney-cooper.html I really think he was traded to the Cubs, not the White Sox. He is listed on the Iowa Cubs roster, but hasn't played a game for them.
  19. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 28, 2009 -> 10:07 AM) That makes more sense as they are looking for all the depth they can, but this guy just blows. Although, if the White Sox did trade for him, then he's coming to B'ham.
  20. I think he was traded to the Cubs. It says on his MiLB.com profile that he's with the Iowa Cubs.
  21. Here it is... Gordon Beckham promoted to Triple-A Charlotte, will be in lineup Thursday By Mark Gonzales ANAHEIM, Calif. - White Sox infielder Gordon Beckham was promoted Wednesday night to Triple-A Charlotte and will be in the Knights' lineup on Thursday night. Beckham, the Sox's top pick in the 2008 draft, was batting .299 with four home runs and 22 RBIs for Double-A Birmingham. That's 5 games in a row he'll probably be playing in that will be on MiLB.tv, I suggest you guys take the opportunity to check him out in streaming video. I;m getting up early enough to watch that game tomorrow morinng.
  22. Here's something official... Local article...
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ May 27, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) Interesting. Well, I'm sorry for you that you won't get to watch him anymore, but it's still a good team. The question now is how much 3B will he play at Charlotte? I think if he's playing there everyday, he'll be in Chicago very soon. Another question--who plays SS for Birmingham now? I know Hudson is banged up a little. Is he the everyday SS now? I guess Hudson too, but depending on the corresponding roster moves, it could be someone else. Huddy's been day to day with a strained wrist. Does someone get cut in Charlotte? They have a full roster and Wise rehabbing. Does Greg Paiml come up, or Persichina to become the utility guy and Hudson becomes the everyday SS? I doubt anybody would come to B'ham from Charlotte. Many questions...
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ May 27, 2009 -> 05:26 PM) Thanks. Was Beckham in the on-deck circle when he was pulled from the game? Nothing in the boxscore indicates a substitution. David Cook was going to pinch hit for him. He left before the start of the bottom of the 9th.
  25. Brent Morel is day to day with a hamstring injury.
