  1. QUOTE (flavum @ May 17, 2009 -> 10:06 AM) Gordon Beckham has been activated, and Lee Cruz has been sent to Winston-Salem. Doubleheader at 2pm. Ely and Zaleski starting today. Wow, I'm shocked. It would have made more sense to promote Cook or Gartrell to Charlotte considering that there is an open spot on their roster.
  2. C.J. is Biggio-esque. He'll be challenging for a everyday job on the White Sox in 2011. He generates his power from his arms. He has huge forearms. If your forearms could be "guns," he has them.
  3. QUOTE (beautox @ May 16, 2009 -> 08:24 PM) So to continue on the question found through out this board? are both CJ and Stephan legit prospects and if so what would be their prospective floor, median and ceiling? also my Barons hat just came in the mail today, looks legit. Where did you order it from?
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ May 16, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) I didn't know my statement of fact conveyed impatience. No need to get snarky.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ May 16, 2009 -> 06:08 PM) Beckham is not back. Patience...do you want him to rush back and worsen his injury?
  6. Ahh, the bulk of the Barons roster, not so bad. They do have one of the best records in all of minor league baseball. Tyler Reves on the other hand played one year at high A ball and was cut loose. He played a little Indy ball, then quit. Nice use of a 4th rounder.
  7. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 15, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) I can't believe people get paid to write this stuff. Any moron could look at his stats/age and ascertain what Badler said. I want his job: just writing fairly obvious statements about players. I've been saying that about him all season so far.
  8. He chose FA instead of going back to AAA Nashville. Good fit for Charlotte?
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 15, 2009 -> 01:28 PM) No word on whether he will appeal the suspension or not. Jeez, you can't argue with an ump without getting suspended for a 2 games anymore? What did he do that was that bad?
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 15, 2009 -> 12:57 PM) Solid defensive player. Don't know how he'd be able to handle CF, but projects as a solid defensive outfielder with a plus arm. By all means I'm not saying we have a star, but he's the type of guy that if he got a shot, might just be a pretty solid all around ball player or at least a solid bench player. And since the Sox might have some big holes in the outfield and not many major league ready replacements in the outfield, this might be a good year for Gartrell to get his chance. Not CF, but defintely LF or RF. Mostly RF.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 15, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) Its a bad comparison, but he kind of has that Vladdy build to him (think 2 years ago Vladdy). Where he's a pretty big guy, but finds a way to move well. And no, I'm not at all comparing him to Vladdy the player. I get what you're saying and I agree.
  12. QUOTE (Cali @ May 15, 2009 -> 12:53 PM) How's his Defense? He covers ground well enough in the outfield. He gets to ball sometimes that I think he's not going to get.
  13. Yes, he has a rightfielder's arm. Yes, he has power to ALL fields. Tremendous power the opposite way. He's faster than he looks. He's a hell of a good guy as well. He's big and strong, I've never noticed any serious flaws with him. He does look at a lot of pitches, so that accounts for a lot of his K's.
  14. Nothing much to report tonight. Clevelan Santeliz was throwing gas tonight, hitting 98 and 97 consistently, plus being "effectively wild." You guys really need to see Stefan Gartrell, how he's not a prospect blows my mind. After the game, I asked Aaron Poreda when he's going up to Chicago, I told him that'll be sooner rather than later. He got a good laugh out of that, although I didn't catch what he said back. You guys are going to like him as a Major Leaguer, he's really personable.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ May 14, 2009 -> 12:54 PM) Winston-Salem blew a 5-1 lead in the 9th. Lost 6-5 in 10. Anthony Carter 7.1 IP, 1 hit, 1 run, 2 walks, 7 K's Mollenhauer 1-5 Marrero 2-3, BB, 2B, R, RBI Gerst 2-4, HR, 2 RBI I guess Gerst is one of those guys who does better at the higher levels.
  16. Same as the Jason Bay thread...do the White Sox pursue him this fall if he hits free agency.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 14, 2009 -> 03:10 PM) They can demote Lillibridge and promote Cook, and then release some piece of flak they have in Charlotte. Guys like Myrow and Dawkins serve no real purpose down there anyway. Maybe Myrow, but Dawkins has been useful as a utility player. Myrow only DH's and plays 1B.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 14, 2009 -> 03:03 PM) Lillibridge's value is at its low point. I'd rather send him to AAA and see if they can re-tool his swing. You aren't getting anything of value for him right now anyway. There is an open roster spot as of right now in Charlotte, but I think David Cook will be promoted when Gordon Beckham is activated from the DL in the next day or so.
  19. So, trade them Lillibridge when Brian Anderson is activated? It could be for a PTBNL.
  20. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 13, 2009 -> 10:15 PM) Damn you, Jordan Danks! Your social-climbing ways have done this, buy seriously this sucks. Let's mobilize everyone and write our asses off. I'm talking SouthSideSox, WSI, Whatever. Let's get the word out. Ed said all the e-mails he can get can help. Spread the word far and wide, brothers.
  21. They haven't moved into their new stadium yet because there is a construction delay. They are still playing in their old stadium. But, they had already sold the stadium to Wake Forest. Article that explains it all... Another article
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 13, 2009 -> 06:48 PM) I'm going to move this to the main forum so that everyone reads it and hopefully sends something. In addition, I will send something on behalf of Soxtalk over there stating how our entire site is dissapointed that games will not be broadcasted. Awesome! All the help we can get...
  23. I was informed by Ed Collari, the broadcaster and media guy for the Dash, that due to budget cuts, they won't be broadcasting home games. He suggested that you send him an e-mail that he can forward to his bosses about how disappointed you are that you can't listen to home games. Spread this as much as you can, his e-mail address is... [email protected]
  24. Quick gun for Omogrosso, but dead on for Poreda? The gun is accurate.
  25. Omogrosso looked great today, he really works quick. His fastball hit 99 at one point and was hitting 96-97 consistently. With two outs in the top of the 7th and no one out, Omogrosso came up and inside on Todd Frazier. Frazier made a big fuss, but Omo just stared at him. I knew he was going to do it again, and he did, this time he hit him and the benches cleared, but nothing cam of it. Danks got robbed of his first RBI when he hit a single to right, Retherford attempted to score from second, he slid and touched home, then was tagged. But, he was called out, everybody went nuts because he was clearly safe. More good news about Beckham, he said himself he'd be playing Saturday when the Barons are in West Tenn.
