  1. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ May 5, 2009 -> 11:19 PM) Nathan Jones goes 1 inning, gives up 3 earned runs, and still earns a hold. What a ridiculous stat. BTW, where the hell is Jose Martinez? Is he still in extended ST? He didn't get hurt again did he? He's on Kanny's DL.
  2. QUOTE (scenario @ May 5, 2009 -> 05:15 PM) Charlotte @ Durham Knights lose 8-2 Bad game by a bad team Birmingham @ Montgomery Harrell pitching Winston-Salem @ Frederick - Game One Shirek pitching Winston-Salem @ Frederick - Game Two Maxwell scheduled to pitch Kannapolis @ Lakewood DCarter pitching Lowe's pitching the second game. Hudson's making his debut tomorrow night, and Maxwell's going Thursday.
  3. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ May 5, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) you mean cornhole?? Yep.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2009 -> 09:41 AM) http://www.facebook.com/pages/manage/updat...2626&ref=mf Kanny is trying to set a world record for the World's Biggest Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament. Not a half bad idea for a promo! Charlotte's having a conhole tournament, so ha.
  5. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ May 4, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) that lesson had already been taught and tested. Of course, what was I thinking.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 4, 2009 -> 06:11 PM) That's a bit of a buzzkill, they can't just delay the game? Monsoon rain, middle of a double header, saturated field, getaway day. They're making up the second game in West Tenn, which sucks, so B'ham loses a home game.
  7. Charlotte @ Durham 7:05PM ET Carlos "K" Torres vs. Carlos Hernandez Audio Video West Tenn @ B'ham (Let's play two!) 5:05PM CT Steven Hensley vs. Aaron Poreda TBA vs. TBA (Probably Lucas Harrell) Audio W-S @ Frederick 7:00PM ET Charlie Shirek vs. Timothy Bascom Audio Kanny off.
  8. The funny part is that he was teaching her how to spit. Is that right? Shouldn't he be teaching her how to swallow?
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2009 -> 06:58 AM) I guess it's supposed to be the Alabama-ized version of "The View," essentially. Yep, except that there is actually eye candy.
  10. Matt Long was promoted to B'ham and Kyle Aselton was placed on B'ham's DL. Both B'ham lefty relievers are on the DL now. Hudson will take Long's spot in the W-S rotation.
  11. He's been promoted to W-S, I'll find out later who's place he's taking or if someone's doing on the DL for W-S. His spot in Kanny was taken by Justin Edwards, who had been on the DL. So, nobody has been demoted back to Kanny.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2009 -> 10:33 PM) JPN, how would you describe Beckham's speed? Well above average. I think he could steal up to 20 bases a year, but I doubt that his focus will be on that. Although I could see him turning into an Ian Kinsler type player.
  13. I think they postponed the Barons game too soon. The weather cleared out before 4PM. That would have been only a two hour delay. I get there 50 minutes before gametime, I'm ordering my corndogs and Powerade, and I hear "shut it down, the game's cancelled, double header tomorrow." Usually I have to wait for corndogs to cook...for 10 minutes. They were ready, but I turned them down and headed home. Zaxby's for lunch instead.
  14. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 3, 2009 -> 02:31 PM) JPN, how dare you. There has yet to be a game that can rival the awesomeness of MVP 2005. Besides, The Show >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2K They might have a lot of options, but their gameplay is terrible, IMO. I respectfully disagree. I did play MVP 2005 for three years, but just before last year, I got a PS3. It was the 40GB one that isn't backwards compatible. I read about the options in MLB 2K8 and it sounded like a rightful successor and upgrade to the greatness of MVP 2005. I understand if you don't like it, but I've been happy with the game play. I'm actually on my second copy. I traded in my first one assuming that MLB 2K9 would be just as good, but read that they stripped it of a lot of features, most importantly the playability of AA and A teams. The only drawback to 2K8 is that W-S is still the Warthogs.
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 3, 2009 -> 01:39 PM) Awesome! My Charlotte team in MVP 2005, just got better! Time to move to the bench, 2b eligible Andy Phillips! Pick up MLB 2K8, It's even better that MVP 2005. The options you have are astounding. MLB 2K8 for PS3, it's also available for XBOX 36O, Wii & others.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2009 -> 12:51 PM) If it was, it isn't a bad idea. I am really not ready to call up any of the kids at AA until they are a little more seasoned. No sense in rushing them until they are more than ready. Daryle Ward's father is the batting coach for Charlotte.
  17. And takes the open roster spot in Charlotte, no promotions for Cook or Danks. He hit a homerun in his first at bat.
  18. Whomever predicted that he would sign with the Nats, you've won the booby prize.
  19. Of course, it's just as likely that Christian Marrero could be promoted.
  20. Oh, by the way...I have a Sharpie that was touched by Slayer. Opening bids are welcome, I have a Pay Pal account.
  21. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) On a side note, you all may get your wish about Jordan Danks. With Jerry Owens opting for free agency, that leaves a roster spot open in Charlotte, and they'll need an outfielder. I would assume David Cook is going up. And, if Jermaine Dye goes on the DL, then I assume Josh Kroeger will go up to Chicago. That would still leave a roster spot open in Charlotte and a spot open in B'ham, both for outfielders. Danks takes the spot in B'ham, and say maybe a minor league free agent takes the spot in Charlotte. Owens is no longer available, he signed with Seattle. Okay, so Dye's fine. But, I still think David Cook goes up to Charlotte to fill the open outfield roster spot and Danks gets promoted to B'ham.
  22. Ugliness tonight, that's all. Especially the top of the 6th. Although I will say I'm always impressed by Stefan Gartrell's opposite field power. I had a chance to meet C.J. Retherford, John Shelby III, & Matt Zaleski tonight. C.J. was nice, but he was in a hurry to get out to the batting cage behind the right field wall. I have to say John Shelby is a tremendous kid. Very nice, very personable. I've been a fan of his since he was at Kentucky, I told him that and he seemed to appreciate it. He was swarmed by little leaguers, and made time for all of them and was very nice to them as well. Matty Z is from Aurora, Illinois by the way. I have nothing to say about Todd Jones night, accept that he shouldn't...(pregnant pause) ever...(awkward pause) speak... publicly. On a side note, you all may get your wish about Jordan Danks.
  23. According to his Wikipedia page, he signed a contract with Seattle.
  24. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:11 PM) Yeah but isn't he pretty bad at baseball and incredibly inexperienced in the outfield? He's played like 11 innings out there over the last 4 years. So, if Dye goes on the DL, Kroeger goes up, David Cook goes up to Charlotte, that still leaves roster spots open at Charlotte and B'ham with Owens opting for free agency.
