The Superman exists, and he's American.

The question is, when did he lose his virginity? 10? 11?

Didn't even think of that. Thanks guys, it's fine now. -
I can get to the website through IE, but not via Firefox. It says "we are currently performing maintenance on our website."

A player that would seem easily attainable, realistically, and would fit at least one, if not many needs for the White Sox...Gregor Blanco. I wonder if Kenny Williams inquired about his availibility during the Javier Vazquez trade talks. He seems like an odd man out in Atlanta with Jordan Shaefer, Brandon Jones, Jeff Francouer & Jason Heyward as the future of the Braves outfield. That's Gregor Blanco, folks, CF, potential leadoff hitter, speedster, good defense, only 25. He's playing for Venezuela in the WBC if you want to check him out.

I know it doesn't matter now, but in 2005 in B'ham, he hit .330 and stole a ton of bases leading off. He either won Barons MVP or the SL batting title or both, I forget. Anyway, I'm surprised he's not achieved some bit of that success since.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Mar 8, 2009 -> 10:11 PM) I agree with JPN. Miller has the best chance to backup AJ. I thought he was just a body for camp as well, but so far he has shown he's somewhat competent with the bat, and from what I have read, he's suppossed to be really good defensively. But it will likely be one of Stewart and Miller, and the loser gets sent down to Charlotte with Armstrong. And speaking of Armstrong, my oh my does he look lost at bat. I'm not surprised that so far major league pitching (for the most part) has shut him down. I am surprised that he actually hit good at times in the minors and in the AFL however. But he and Stewart/Miller should provide Charlotte with a decent backstop. I agree that Lucy will be sent back down to AA. He's still recovering from that injury (if not physically, mentally), and just like a major leaguer in a similar situation, you start them low to get back to speed and go from there. Also, he should see plenty of time catching due to the fact Flowers doesn't look like much of a catcher anyway. Does Birmingham have the DH? If so, I could see Flowers spending some time there (with Allen at 1B). So far, all four of our affiliates look good. W-S and Kanny should benefit from our strong draft class from last year, and AA and AAA look pretty solid from what I can tell. I wish the White Sox had all their affiliates centered around Illinois and the midwest instead of down primarily in the south east. Yes, the Barons use the DH. I still think that Flowers will catch 4 out of 5 and Lucy will get the other game. Unless Tyler is just horrible, then I can see him DH'ing a lot. He could even DH when not catching. If they are both here like I think, I'm sure I'll see them talking catching frequently.

Starting rotations for AA/AAA in April, 2009
JPN366 replied to caulfield12's topic in FutureSox Board
It would only be Broadway's third year at AAA. Cassel will be in Charlotte, he more than deserves a promotion after leading the SL in ERA. Harrell will need to repeat AA because he only made 10 starts in 2008. Still having nagging shoulder issues. Omogrosso will start in AA because he missed so much time with blister issues. He told me that he had a tumor in his right hand that caused the problem. Santeliz will start in B'ham. Ely should be in B'ham. Rasner & Zaleski should be in AA. McCulloch is awful, I wouldn't hold out any hope for him at all. He is the pitching equivalent of Valido. Everything else is a mystery, it's hard to nail down the pitching rotations. It's easier to call the position players. -
I despise Bob Brenly.

Getz can play more than second base. He played SS, 3B, 2B & LF in Charlotte last year. Cook can lead off. He has a patient enough approach at the plate to lead off.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) I still think Stewart wins it. Dude was raking against lefties last season not to mention this is Corky f***ing Miller were talking about here. Trust me, I love Chris Stewart. He's a class act all the way. He had a great year for B'ham in 2005. Of course, everybody did. But, for a catcher, 11 HR and 51 RBI. The Barons 2005 roster included... Josh Fields Jerry Owens (.330 average and Southern League honors) Chris Young Ryan Sweeney Casey Rogowski (The Man) & SL RBI title holder Darren Blakely (he beat out Dan Uggla)

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 09:29 PM) And they wouldn't send Lucy backwards to AA. Lucy's only 26 and has technically only played two whole months in AAA. The last month of the season in 2007, and the first month in 2008. Like I said, mentoring Flowers would be the reasoning for a return to AA. And, to evaluate how much he can play.

S/T: 3/04 - Sox vs. Oakland - 2pm - Broadway vs. Eveland

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) Broadway through 2 IP, gave up a broken bat single to Carter. Allen got eaten up by low and away sliders against the LHP...tough match-up for him. Danks popped out, but made contact on his swings. Allen's raw and can tend to K a lot. But, when he gets a hold of one...good lord... -
...just my logic, but seems likely to me. Chicago A.J. and Corky A right handed bat to back up Pierzynski. Corky's also the most experienced anyway. Charlotte Cole Armstrong and Chris Stewart Cole starts, Stew backs up. Two work horses, who plays most? Lefty, righty platoon perhaps? Both are equally adept hitters. B'ham Flowers and Lucy Flowers starts, Lucy backs up. Lucy is the perfect person to mentor Flowers' development and he may be capable of starting once or twice a week. He's tough as nails, so if anybody can at least be a back up catcher after dislocating a knee, Donny can. I saw him take a ball in the dirt off the cup on a cold night and keep playing. Plus, he played the next night.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 02:05 PM) Jesus, Ozzie didn't leave us much for the televised game tonight. Who of interest is even left? C: Pierzynski 1B: Konerko/Broussard 2B: Getz/Nix SS: Beckham/Santos 3B: Fields/Betemit/Castillo LF: Wise/Kroeger CF: Owens RF: Dye/Restovich I assume they'll use mostly players from minor league camp to off the bench in the day game since that's in Phoenix. Is this game on WGN or CSN? -

Aaron Cunningham is great. He'll crack Oakland's lineup sooner than you think. I've always held that he wasn't worth trading away for Danny Richar. Cunningham is a hitting machine. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) former Sox update - Heath Phillips is in Royals camp I think Heath literally rubs Crisco on his chest, because he throws some serious yakkers.
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 03:58 PM) I don't know if he was a free agent but if he was then he was re re-signed to a minor league deal. I don't think he was a minor league free agent, just eligible for the Rule V draft. He's in minor league camp, he was not invited to major league spring training. I think it's fairly obvious that some on this board have grossly overstated his worth. He wasn't placed on the 40 man roster to protect him from the Rule V draft, he wasn't selected in the Rule V draft and even with a huge hole in CF he couldn't even get an invite to spring training. Watch him play, then try to say he's overrated. He's got major league power, and he is a great situational hitter. Sounds like to me he could make a very good 4th outfielder/pinch hitter.
