If nothing else, Obama really is the world's biggest celebrity. And the world's biggest celebrity is an unabashed White Sox fan. Gotta capitalize on it.

Yeah, same here, it was like below zero for the longest time. Last night it was 48 at 1 AM with incredibly thick fog. I think 2008 in terms of weather for Iowa won't be topped for a while.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 08:59 PM) No one on Iowa St would even start for Gonzaga, who lost to Portland State tonight. I don't know, a 7 point home loss to South Dakota State, a team that was Division 2 two years ago, still pretty s***ty.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 08:50 PM) I repeat...no coach gets less from the talent they have on their roster than Mark Few. Greg McDermott wants to be in that team picture.

Much like I told Dan, I'm going to take Greg McDermott deep into the woods and leave him someplace where he cannot keep hurting our basketball program. Losing at home to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. Ugh.

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Dec 20, 2008 -> 06:53 PM) Rhoads was considered a pretty good defensive coordinator. Early in the year, Auburn's D didn't miss a beat from last year after losing Muschamp. Once the offense really hit the tank and after some injuries, they just got wore down. Not sure what he will do as a HC, but he was pretty well respected at Pitt before coming to Auburn this year. Who was the NFL guy you were wanting? The link you provided is dead. It was a rumor that we'd gotten Gary Patterson. His press conference was very, very impressive.

Rhoads was an assistant under McCarney. Tuberville wanted to tap him as Auburn's DC, but Rhoads turned him down to stay at Pitt when Tuberville hired Chizik. I have no strong feelings one way or another, to be honest, but our best player said he's staying, so that's nice. Not a bad hire, not a great hire.

Not personally. I know he had some drug issues (ganja) but I don't know if anyone thought he had a realistic shot at pro football besides himself. It's still really sad. We've already lost two starting runningbacks from the 2000s to premature death.
