It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
QUOTE (Yoda @ Oct 12, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) If you own Seasons 1 and 2, it is best to watch the episodes in order because in some cases you will be lost and unsure of certain saying's that are carried into the crazy adventures the crew goes through. I can guarantee you this, if you take the show too seriously you won't find it very amusing. I watched the "Mack and Charlie are Dead" episode for a second time and it really grew on me. The glory hole thing is priceless. The pilot seemed pretty damn good.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 11, 2008 -> 10:15 PM) By the way, McCain is now Robocalling Iowans saying McCain came running to Iowa to survey the damage while Obama and Congress took a vacation. And by the way, it's FEMA's job to help flood victims, not congress. I guess he forgot the part where he came to Iowa AGAINST the wishes of state officials who didn't want Obama or McCain's large entourages to interfere with flood relief. I'm pretty sure most Iowans realize neither candidate did much of anything.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 11, 2008 -> 09:21 PM) Aren't there like 100 of those tied for first? Burn! A 38-10 loss to Baylor - Baylor's first Big 12 win in their last 14 tries.... It's one of them.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 11, 2008 -> 01:20 PM) I disagree. I don't think Baylor is bad. Texas, wow. OU really hasn't looked that good in the 2nd half. I'm very surprised. And to Illinois and Michigan: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'm still going to be very disappointed if we don't make a bowl this year. Here's the rest of our schedule: @ Baylor Nebraska Texas A&M @ Oklahoma St. @ Colorado Missouri @ Kansas St. There's 4 wins to be had in there. A win at Baylor would be a good first step. It should be quite apparent we're better than last year by leaps and bounds.

Teaching Kids Finances
QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 11, 2008 -> 12:07 PM) School calendars in other countries have shown there isn't anything magical about 11 weeks versus 7 weeks off. If humans truly needed that much of a break from their jobs, we'd all have three month vacations instead of two weeks. Imagine a bricklayer or accountant can work 50 whole weeks a year, but teachers can only work 38? And, knowing teachers outside of school, almost all are working jobs during the summer. They are already teaching summer school, or taking seasonal jobs. Even with the current schedule there are kids who will not want to be in class. NSS, I guess I should have been clearer, there is such a pressure for various college tracks, where to earn the distinction you need 4 years of math, science, and English. 3 years of a foreign language, two years of fine arts, two years of PE. Then health, and a couple I can't remember, that left 3 open electives. You'd face major resistance, it'd just never happen.

Teaching Kids Finances
QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 11, 2008 -> 11:04 AM) I agree, but when you look over what is already required, it is tough to fit in more required courses. Low math and science scores? Add required courses. Fat kids? Require more PE. Teen pregnancy? Sex Ed. My solution is longer school years. A four week "minimester" in June or August that addresses stuff like this. It would be required during two of the three High School summer vacations. Health, Finance, etc. Or complete a private program approved by the school district. It could even be on-line. Nope. Both teachers and students need that time. A minimester would lack the focus that you'd want. No one would want to be there.

The Art of the Pickup
QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 11, 2008 -> 10:26 AM) Pick a non threatening micro date. In college it is as simple as "I was heading over to the Student Union, wanna grab a coke?" If she says yes, ask about home, pets, vacations, siblings, and other simple common stuff. If she says no, she is busy, smile and ask her if that is "busy, don't ask me again or busy, I'd like to but pick another time". Smile, either way. Not everyone is interested in everyone. Of course, in Tex' day, things were much different. [begin grainy sepia-toned film] "Why hello, darlin'. If it wouldn't be a heap of trouble for you, would you be interested in walkin' with me down to the General Store? I need to get some picklin' jars, but it'd be mighty nice to sit down and have a cherry phosphate with a charming young lady such as yourself." [/old]

4 players that went home AFTER getting to Tampa
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 10, 2008 -> 11:16 PM) I'm surprised the sight of Dotel the last six weeks hasn't soured him on you at all. I could not stomach his implosions. He's definitely not one of my favorites. I do realize once in a while he'd strike out the side and look unhittable. But his suckiness on several occasions down the stretch I felt was unacceptable for a team fighting for postseason berth and postseason success. It's because his arm was still barely attached to his torso by the end of the season. I have no doubt it was deadarm.

QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 10, 2008 -> 02:27 PM) I learned in life it pretty much always better to just go balls out when it comes to women(i dont mean that literally). They like when you just get to the point with confidence.Thats your best bet for success. Unless they're nice balls, then you might have a shot. Maybe there's something wrong with shipps.

QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) Upcoming Concerts for me: 10/14: Weezer at the Forum 10/23: Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band 11/5: Coheed & Cambria - "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: III" night of the Neverender Debating on going to see Rise Against/Alkaline Trio/Thrice on Halloween. Not a fan of Rise Against, or the venue, but HUGE Alkaline and Thrice fan, plus on halloween you know costumes will be involved. The Alkaine/Thrice sets wont be long so thats a negative....who knows.... Oberst's music is a little too weird for me now.

Trading Swisher
Not usually smart to try and trade a player at his lowest value ever ever.

It was a good season
Trading Nick Swisher right now is like trading a decent steak that you've already eaten and s*** out. Someone might give you a little bit to use it as fertilizer, but we're the only ones with attachment to it right now.
