March 4th Primaries
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) We are talking about the Clintons. If they need 'em and they want 'em, they'll find a way to get them seated. That'd be a shame. Hillary, based on recent polling, would need help in Iowa. And if she gets the nomination that way, it won't be from me.

March 4th Primaries
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 01:07 PM) That's a shame. If it happens, that would mean the party leadership is currently lying to our faces right now. Plus, you include the fact that Obama wasn't even on the ballot in Michigan. If the Republicans were able to somehow pull that sort of stunt (hypothetically of course), the Dems would be ruthlessly attacking them for doing so. There's not a good reason to seat the delegates.

March 4th Primaries
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) I'm betting they'll be seated. I would not vote Democrat then. And I'd hope a lot of other Democrats wouldn't as well.

March 4th Primaries
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 11:42 AM) Bingo. The door is WIDE open, and as a matter of fact, I would say the door is closing on Obama. I believe it all comes down to superdelegates. Also, Dean best hold to his promise about not seating Michigan and Florida (especially Michigan) unless he wants all s*** to break loose.

CNN has early caucus results with Obama with a 13 point lead. Of course, it means little.

March 4th Primaries
QUOTE(AngelasDaddy0427 @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 09:57 PM) You have no idea the god like status Hillary has here. If she doesn't keep at least a 20 point lead I'll be shocked. She has everyone here fooled. And I will never stop believing what a racist Hillary is. I've got a question. How did Obama win Iowa, while Hillary got third? Our population is about 104% whites.

Catch-All Anything Thread
Wow, Iowa State. Way to totally f*** up the one good thing you had going for you. Paying for VEISHEA? A limit at your s***ty concerts? Another riot in Ames has to be a legitimate concern now. The last one started off campus, and the celebration is going to totally be centered off campus again for students.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 08:29 PM) So, my brother thinks I'm nuts cause I think Mayo and Bayless will be better pros than Beasley. I know Mayo hasn't lived up to his reputation for much of the year, but he'll be much better in a more open situation. I'll never understand why Tim Floyd plays a slow style with that roster. That's Tim Floyd basketball Beasley has impressed me more than when I saw Oden/Durant in college. I'm interesting to see how it translates.

College drinking
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 08:06 PM) I can't say this should belong in here. But last weekend I went to a costume party, designed a costume as a 10 key (hell, I'm an accountant so I wanted to make fun of that fact) and than afterwards went out to the bars absolutely trashed. To say the least, it was a great night. You're a rascal.

Saturday 3/01 Sox vs. Dbacks
QUOTE(KevinM @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 02:34 PM) If he and Owens both hit .300, the team would be much better served to keep Anderson if only 1 bench spot is open. Anderson must have decided he's a speed guy.

College drinking
QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 02:19 AM) well, honestly, my post two pages ago may have been ignored, but it rings true. I thing this thread response encapsulated two things: 1) People didn't like being told they were dropout losers because they drank 2) trying to help out beast learn the values of person to person interaction I have friends that don't drink. BUT, they don't shy away from interaction. Parties aren't their scene and my fraternity and myself respect that, but they also are involved in a lot of things in campus. That is not a "in place of system", where you aren't drinking so you must do this instead, but, I think it is important in college to push yourself far more than academically and mix yourself with different groups of people for self growth. My greatest personal strides in college have not come from drinking, but from interaction with a diverse group of people (i was a summer welcome leader), and I feel it's important to building important social skills. That said, I work my ass off in school, do drink, do have fun, and resent a sentiment that because i do these things and get stupid on weekends I'm somehow inferior. My friend turned 21 tonight, I don't regret celebrating it. And maggsmaggs, you live in almost a perfect college campus. I love our cafe culture, our music culture, our film culture. Go take advantage of the j-school buying T/F tickets and go to the director Q and A, you'll meet people there. Get as diverse a network as you can, because our campus, as well as many college ones, have such a great opportunity to maximize every strength available. and go tigers baseball. Go Crow. You live in Missouri. Never associate the word perfect with that state again.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 10:49 PM) I hope you have some interior players on the horizon. Hubalek is horrid, your guards are not bad. Nope, that's where we are the thinnest. Brackins came in as a 5 star and has been a massive disappointment. Diante played one of his best games of the year last night, and Haluska stepped up. We're going to miss Jiri.
