Not to get my hopes up, but there's not been many strong denials of the Sox being the team. That could very well mean nothing, but it's better than someone saying we were blown out of the water.

As was mentioned earlier in this thread, we're playing with house money (or something like that) here. We don't HAVE to have him. But it'd sure be nice.

Also, Iowa State had a really fun day today, with a guy that gained reinstatement to the team through the courts. What a f***ing mess.

How do people watch Big Ten basketball all year? As far as Self goes, as a Big 12 guy, I think he's the best coach in that conference by a mile. I think Hoiberg is near the top, and I think most would say Scott Drew is at the bottom.

I'd always be interested to see what people think justifies a contract of a certain amount. Say we signed him for 20 a year.....what numbers does he need to put up for that? What does Kershaw need to put up to justify 30? Can he? Just playing devil's advocate, ya know. Will Tanaka need to win the Cy Young to more or less justify the contract that he's going to get?

As the first batter of the game in 2005 he hit .333 with a .419 OBP. While he may not have been the best in high leverage situations, I loved watching him lead off games. He gets on, Iguchi moved him over, and he'd score on a sac fly or something. I wonder how many times we took a 1-0 lead in the first inning?

Wasn't Nate Silver the one that said these systems typically underrate the Sox?

Big trap game today for the Clones. They're like a 3.5 point favorite in Oklahoma but will not be surprised at all to see them drop the game this morning. However, if you like offense, there should be a bunch between the next two games (@ Oklahoma, vs. Kansas)
