  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 10:52 AM) I don't think Boston would give up Moncada for either. They spent $63 million signing him with bonus plus penalty. I find it hard to believe he would be available starlight up let alone in a package. With Sale's contract and their investment for Moncada considered, Boston would be "paying" Sale 30.5mm per year on average. They'd also look to lock him up in the later years of his contract... so it would still make business sense for them.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 09:44 AM) I feel the same way. Based on Q making less money and having an extra year of control, they're basically even to me. Yea. Add in Q having a higher chance of staying healthy and I'd be more apt for Q.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 09:30 AM) I predict neither go anywhere in the next year. I could see them holding onto them as well. Urg. It's a pickle. They don't have to move either unless they're overwhelmed. It's likely that someone pays through the teeth.
  4. I don't think Texas has what it would take.
  5. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) The Red Sox and White Sox are a perfect match for a trade. I can see something happening between the two clubs. I wonder what a Robertson/Quintana package would bring back? 3 of the top 35 prospects in all of baseball and two more low minor tickets - that'd be my guess.
  6. QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 08:26 AM) Dodgers were linked (lightly) to Quintana, but they have also been pushing for Archer, who makes a lot of sense for them. Just imagine how Sale and Q will fare in the NL. Good golly gosh.
  7. God, what I would give for a tap on Hahn's phone right now!
  8. Feel free to add this to your signature or replace what you've got should you want to... hint hint - "all in" crowd. https://s32.postimg.org/de8ee7f6t/wereallout.jpg

My shiny new signature is better than yours and says it all...

Just the name alone earns him an immediate call up to the majors in my book.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 09:25 PM) We're far from backed into a corner where we need to trade Q/Sale You can certainly keep them both and hope to rebuild with a rotation of Sale / Q / Shields / Rodon / Fulmer by 2019. Then again - it's not likely to work as every other asset you move isn't going to fill multiple holes and will create another one on the exit. I.E. - Eaton, Abreu, Fraizer, Lawrie, Robertson, Melky We've already got holes at DH, CF, and C. You trade Melky, Fraizer, and Lawrie... Then you've got holes at 6 of 9 positions. Eek.
  12. I really see the White Sox and Red Sox lining up for a massive trade... 1.) Boston is currently half a game back in the east behind Baltimore - they want to do whatever it takes to avoid the 1 game playoff and just get right into the first round. 2.) They have the talent in the minors to make a big splash and we match their needs... A gap to get Kimbrel healthy and a guy who can slot in after he returns. 3.) They need another front line starting pitcher if they're going to stack their odds of pulling away in the division race. 4.) Dave Dombrowski
  13. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 06:35 PM) The Dodgers are light on position player prospects, so they might have to get in a third team. I could see them giving up Pederson as a part of a Q trade.
  14. It's completely pointless and utterly embarrassing that the Cubs are a focus of discussion here.
  15. Team walks off the field after tonight's loss, to find Ventura huddled around about 50,000 used Kleenex boxes. His hat is barely peeking out of a massive pile of soggy tissue paper and whimpering can be heard at the center of this fluffy mountain. "Guys... The prevention hotline worked last night..." His words are broken by uncontrolled sobbing... "They said I needed to trust you all. Well I did and now what?" Eaton walks up to the pile and pats his skippers hat. With an encouraging tone he says, "Where's Drake when ya need him, skip?" A shotgun rings out. Blood, brains, and bone chips fly all over the room. Eaton, covered in red smut - says, "well, I tried."
  16. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) Serious question: What would be the point of trading Quintana for Urias? Best case scenario, Urias turns into a pitcher as good as Quintana. Quintana, who already is a pitcher as good as Quintana, is signed reasonably for four more years. Urias, a rookie, has six years' control. So basically you can have Quintana for four more years, or a guy who might be as good as Quintana for six years. Is that two years of upside, mitigated by the bust risk, really worth it? Four years is a long time! With the condition that the Sox will be attempting to compete in 2018 or 2019 (which I think they will, even in a rebuild they're not going to punt more than a season or two), I just don't see the point in trading Q for a pitcher at all. If the Sox trade him, it should be for multiple impact bats. You need to get Urias, Pederson, and two more in order to mitagate that risk. You're looking to plug multiple holes with a Sale / Q trade or you don't do it. Period.
  17. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 03:20 PM) Driving up the price for Boston??? One reason I like the idea of trading Sale or Q during the deadline is you can insight a SERIOUS bidding war. Boston offers X Say I'll call you back Call Toronto- say Boston offered X - get them to offer X+Y Call LA - say Toronto offered X + Y - get them to offer xyz Call Baltimore and ask them if they can beat xyz. Get them to offer xyzz Call Boston, tell them you're willing to sell him to three other bidders unless they offer xyzzzz Let it be known that you're talking to their competition in the divisional races and in the playoffs. Rape and pillage their team.
  18. Got my banana colored sling thong ready to rock as we root away for losses upon losses.
  19. In other news, Rick Hahn's cell phone minutes exceeded 650 today in the past 12 hours.
  20. One good thing that hasn't been mentioned regarding an asset of rebuilding: Soxtalk would be blowing up with rumors / discussion. I'm in. Bring it on.
  21. QUOTE (Insp @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 10:20 PM) If you're serious about rebuilding, then don't trade any of the pitching. Trade all of the hitters except Morneau & Saladino as they are the only players who know how to work the pitch count. Get back hitting prospects who have demonstrated the ability to work the pitch count. 1.) Morneau is a 35 year old vet who isn't a long term answer and has yet to prove he's worth a roster spot 2.) See my post above about holes. We all love holes but not these kinds of holes.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 10:16 PM) Turner vs best pitcher in AL should be fun tomorrow I didn't know that Sale was on the Tigers
  23. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 10:07 PM) Get that top ten pick 11th and falling right now. Lose em all f***ers.
  24. On the other side of the coin, say we don't trade Q or Sale but do send the likes of Duke, Robertson, Fraizer, Lawrie, and Melky packing. Then, yes - until 2019 you've got a tits starting rotation of: Sale, Q, Rodon, Shields, Fulmer You've got the following fixtures in place with a barren bullpen as well: Shortstop, Firstbase, Rightfield. That means you still have to fill 6 holes. DH, C, 2B, 3B, CF, LF Say you concede Collins as a DH. Fine, you're still down to filling 5 holes. Bottom line - you can't keep that rotation intact and rebuild. Sad but true.
  25. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 08:51 PM) Some of those were absolutely laughable Bwhahahahhaaha. Uh... No. You're f***ing kidding me, Phil. Yea, sorry - thank you for playing. Keep trying. Then you suggest a one for one swap? A proven front line cheap and controllable player for an unproven minor league guy? Get outta here with that crap! I can't believe he gets paid to come up with this nonsense.
