Garland on his way down?
Article on Jon Garland from Herald. http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/sox.asp Coming from Jerry Manuel, this sounds pretty bad.

Fearless Prediction
Does anyone know Koch's pitch repertoire? Is it just 4 seamer and curve ball or is it a slider?

Danny Wright
Yeah, and Josh Paul not clearing waivers would not be the worst thing to happen to the White Sox.

Garland
For the record it was a no-hitter by Doc Ellis and not a perfect game. Jon Garland has two modes: Paint Mode: Picking, gnawing, clawing, and groping for the plate. Usually results in a few walks. Challenge Mode: After a visit from a pitching coach, fastballs and breaking balls but everything over the heart of the plate.

Best Sports Movie
Anyone remember Rookie of the Year?? I know it being about the Cubs sucked but "Pitchers got a big butt" was some of the funniest s*** i ever seen. I'm also partial to Mr. Baseball with Tom Selleck. He really carried that entire film. Still I have to say Major Leagues are the way to go with baseball movies. The lines about "winning streaks" and any other speeches by the Manager Lou. Plus Bob Uecker and "Just a bit outside." Oh theres too many lines to list.

Another ballpark break down
Anyone remember Bill Spiers of Houston getting attacked a few years back? IIRC the fan actually got to Spiers (who is not a big guy) and messed him up pretty good. Nothing career threatening but alot of blood and bruises.

the kiss of death for buehrle
I like Peter Gammons. He crunches the numbers so beautifully. I get excited when he talks about OPS.

Carlos Lee isn't clutch (except maybe against the Cubs). The question is will he ever be clutch?

NBA Playoffs
Last year two 93 win teams and a 92 win team did not make the playoffs. The strata of MLB are pretty well defined with only a few teams able to make the rise from good to great.

NBA Playoffs
I think baseball series should all be seven games. You play a 162 game season on the strength of a 5-man rotation. To play so many games and then start a playoff series where a team can win on the strength of two starters alone is pretty ridiculous. Then again the DBacks of '01 proved a 7-game series can also be dominated by two starters. How about the 9-game series of the old days?

New Condom?
I thought we had these already?? Or maybe it was just a late-night infomercial product called Man-Delay.

Bullpen
Botch wouldn't pull a Koch against...Cleveland... Would he?

Jerry Manuel always...
We got rained out in a tie in last game of the year with Minnesota. It was inconsequential so they didn't bother to finish it.
-
Loaiza pitching great but....
The American League pitching leaders are KC, Chicago, and Minnesota right now. 6 games against Detroit has helped both ours and Minnesota's team ERA's though. I can only hope the ERA goes down from here looking at some of the innings our bullpen has turned in.

White Sox vs Royals
This just in, Jon Garland finally reports to White Sox after missing his first two starts of the season.

The Royals.
Yeah, the only difference is 4 of those wins were against us already. The Indians couldn't lay claim to that.
