% Runs from HR (Running totals)
JorgeFabregas replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I understand that the Phillies lead the league last year in percentage of runs scored via the homerun. This would suggest that relying on the homerun isn't such a bad thing as long as you can hit a lot of them. -
What? I was talking about the Amazon river.

Are the White Sox relevant? Is 2007-itis setting in?

His swing isn't the only thing that's too long.

QUOTE (sircaffey @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 12:15 AM) No it's not. The bullpen is slightly more influential than pinch hitting. The Cubs pen has already cost them a number of games/opportunities. Yes, but Zambrano is not going to fix the entire bullpen. He's going to pitch 1 or 2 innings per appearance. And then it will take a while to stretch him back out when they inevitably need him back in the starting rotation. He was fine in his last start - 6 innings, 2 runs. You do not take a good starter and halve his innings. That is not a good baseball move.

Anyone see that Jon Link (former White Sox farmhand) made his major league debut the other day? 2 IP, 1 BB. Got sent down again shortly thereafter.

QUOTE (sircaffey @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) It's probably not be a long-term move anyways. Zambrano can be dominant reliever. Silva can not be. Of the choices, moving Zambrano was the correct one until Silva starts sucking again or Hendry can acquire some relief help. Of the choices, it's best not to relegate your first or second-best pitcher to a part-time role. It's like a national league team relegating their number 3 hitter to the bench because they were struggling in pinch-hit situations.

And Comcast is a big sponsor (big Xfinity sign at the park).

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 09:07 AM) My buddy was trying to hook us up through facebook and I ignored her for a couple months when she tried to IM me. 7 months later I asked her to marry me. Life is carazay.

Ozzie didn't specifically say that he would play Kotsay in his semi-permanent vs.-RH lineup. So maybe he won't.

I'm tickled that you ride to work on knobbies. I don't think I would enjoy that, but I see why you do it. I try to ride to work once/week. Have not for a couple of weeks, though.

The kneeing story has been pretty much been debunked, hasn't it? It was supposedly at a spring training game and no one reported it at the time. At least that's what I've read.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) Teahen can't be considered a plus offensively simply because of his walks...because getting on base for Alexei or Juan Pierre doesn't really do much good these days. I don't agree. He's second on the team in runs.

As many times as it takes. This team is counting on me.

Between the Cards using their pitchers too fast and the baserunning blunder, one would have to conclude that Tony was out-managed by Jerry Manuel today.
-
Whether it was a bad call or not--why would he run or why would LaRussa send him? You need to play for 2 runs.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) I knew Burnett was more than 6. How many pitches did he throw that game? Lots of people think that was the game that caused him to have surgery. He probably would of needed it no matter what. Burnett threw 128 pitches--same as Jimenez today.
-
It took 128 pitches.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) I doubt they would put a newly acquired berkman on the bench in favor of pierre. Berkman is one few of the elite players hitters in the mlb, but he seemingly does it quietly. The line-up would be significantly improved, with a chance to actually be dangerous. Dh berkman, and put jones and pierre in left, they would essentially become a platoon. It really matter who leads off with considering how much berkman upgrades this team. A ''bad'' berkman would still very likely be our teams best hitter. I don't question that they would start Berkman. The question is whether they would start Pierre or Jones.
-
QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 11:41 AM) Lance berkman is gonna look mighty good in a white sox uniform. If the White Sox picked up a DH/1B type like Berkman, would Ozzie do the smart thing and bench Pierre? Or do you think they're married to the idea of a traditional lead-off hitter?

Well, I've been wondering since before the season started.

4/16 GT: Sox @ Indians, Buehrle v. Talbot
JorgeFabregas replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in 2010 Season in Review
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) disgusting, isn't it, wearing that on their sleeve? It would be great to see a time when one of their players said "no way, I'm not wearing that." Then maybe they would ditch it once and for all. I seem to recall Ed Farmer (or was it some other announcer?) recounting a story of the Indians asking Jacoby Ellsbury if he would have a problem with the team/name mascot if they drafted him (he said he that he wouldn't have a problem with it, IIRC). If you even have to bring it up to potential players, then it 's time to get rid of it. -

I always thought Injuns was appropriate, considering their racist mascot. -
Danks hasn't struck out in 3 straight games. He has a respectable 8:5 K/BB on the season. I'm wondering if Viciedo's AAA promotion was merited.
