  1. I didn't even know that JJ was available for this game. I figured he was still hurt.
  2. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) I heard that Kendall is batting .576 aginast Linebrink in his career. On Sunday with the man on third and two outs put Kendall on and let the .175 hitter beat you. No the .175 hitter was left handed that and the bunt are the only situational managing moves Guillen makes. The Twins may get swept and the Sox should have swept the Royals and should sweep the O's. They are in a pennant race and need to play like it. That's kind of a silly stat. You're talking about a 15 plate appearance sample size (Kendall v. Linebrink). I don't think there are very many situations where it makes sense to intentionally walk Jason Kendall.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 02:14 PM) Sometimes the gambles pay off, and sometimes you look like the Mets. They have a better record than the White Sox with their best players injured and they play in the toughest division in baseball.
  4. He's really put it together. His career numbers are not that bad--he was just terrible with the White Sox.
  5. What's going on? Lights out? The Royals announcers were having a s*** fit between lots of dead air.
  6. He threw 2 perfect innings the other day at Omaha. No Ks in that outing, though. I've been posting periodic updates in the minor league thread. I had no idea he'd gotten his fastball velocity that high, though.
  7. Kotsay is not one to meddle with. Can we send CQ to sliding school?
  8. No. I avoid most sports media. I can see why it would annoy you if you worked in a bar, though.
  9. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 06:39 PM) Brian Anderson has made 3 good appearances for the Royals in rookie ball. He hasn't pitched since July 10, though. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=435042 After a brief stop in A-ball, BA was promoted to the AAA Omaha Royals to pitch with the likes of Tony Pena Jr. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/ar...sp&sid=t420
  10. I was guessing that it was a product of hitting at Charlotte (e.g., Chris Getz' 11 homeruns in 2008). Actually, Rodriguez has done just as well on the road.
  11. I suspect that he's asking too much and teams are waiting to see which players get waived.
  12. QUOTE (RudyLawRules @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 08:33 PM) What a joke both teams got warned. If Danks comes inside and nips someone he and Ozzie are gone...correct? I believe it's still up to the ump's discretion.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) 99 percent of the people on here didnt want Thome back while watching him last season. Hindsight is a fun game. Oh, horses***. Was wanting him during the off-season hindsight?
  14. While chw42 brings up a good point, this is actually an interesting question. Will Freddy fall off the table because his body is no longer used to the full-season grind? Including minor league games, he only pitched 97 innings last year. And that was the most that he'd pitched since 2006. He's already at 119 innings this year.
  15. I don't mind Ozzie pitching Sale in that spot. It's not like the White Sox have a ton of laughers. I just wish they went with a different 0-2 pitch.
  16. I was excited to see his breaking stuff when the count went 0-2. No such luck.
  17. How much salary did the Rangers take on in total?
  18. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) Orlando Cabrera agrees. But does he say "hi?" No? What an asshole. He never calls or writes anymore.
  19. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) Is it official yet? I want some Sale It won't be official until after game 2 today.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:55 PM) Ranger's arguments were new, not old, and rather interesting involving the chemistry aspect of baseball. I welcome any chance to learn more about the clubhouse and some takes from those on the inside. I'd rather have Viciedo than Kotsay, Teahen and/or Lillibridge though. Hire Kotsay as an expensive coach if he's so great for chemistry. The chemistry argument is the last bastion for defending a bad player. You can use it to defend any personnel move. Maybe we should just assume that Ozzie and Kenny know best about everything and then have only descriptive (not prescriptive) discussions on here.
  21. Another hit for Brent today. Does he make any outs? His success baffles me.
  22. I wonder if the Strasburg DL stint is just a convenient way to limit his innings (a la Latos).
  23. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 10:40 PM) Humorous either way. Humerus, perhaps.
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 07:56 AM) The question I inevitably ask every time this topic comes up is will there be a difference in Q's offensive performance based on whether he plays the field or not? We all know he is a horrendous OF. The question is not whether he should be playing the field, but rather, would there be an affect on his offense if he was not playing the field, and if so, what kind? Hard to say. He has a career .832 OPS as a DH compared to a .844 OPS overall. Virtually no difference. But he's only had 84 ABs as a DH--so it's a very small sample size. He has a 1.148 OPS in 22 ABs as a pinch hitter (which I guess is kind of like DHing).
  25. Brian Anderson has made 3 good appearances for the Royals in rookie ball. He hasn't pitched since July 10, though. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=435042
