  1. Finally someone to stick up for Chris Blackwood. If anyone needs a champion, it's an NDFA who OPSed Is he a friend of yours? What's the scouting report on this guy--is he a defensive specialist?

  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 14, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) I wonder what the stat is on a team's record the first series with a new manager hired in season. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Royals kick butt. Who cares, though. Talk is cheap. Play ball. Yeah, I was wondering if the Royals would go on a mini-tear. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 14, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) You're kidding, right? Wouldn't that be amazing, though?
  4. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ May 14, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) The Bulls are easily the most desirable team with max cap space in terms of winning titles and instantly contending. I heard on the radio that the Thunder have enough cap space for a max signing. If we're talking strictly team and not marketing opportunities, then I would think that they would be above the Bulls.
  5. Where do the White Sox rank in terms of strikeout rate? I am sure that a large part of their low strikeout total has to do with the fact that they don't have that many plate appearances due to making frequent outs. Edit: They are 25th in plate apperances
  6. That it's 10 runs/win isn't important. It's an easy baseline to compare players to each other with. Edit: At least that's my understanding.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 12, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) Was he taken out of the game after the play? I'm just listening on the radio and reading here.
  8. This team is in deep s*** if Rios is seriously injured. Not that it wasn't already, I guess.
  9. Nice job by Rios. Ranger's play-by-play leaves something to be desired.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) t Gavin Floyd's looking very shaky again (I remember saying we should trade him or DFA him this time last year and see if any team would assume his contract). 2008, he was great, no doubt. Floyd was much better in 2009 than 2008. And it's not close. He's been wild in 2010, but he's also been unlucky (.385 BABIP).
  11. LOL @ bringing Chen in to face Jones with the bases loaded.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 5, 2010 -> 02:43 PM) Nowhere in the article does it say Jose has been named the temporary closer. Just speculation by Behrens. Not just speculation by Behrens. He quoted the Phils' mlb.com beat writer saying that Contreras would likely be the fill-in. Although you are right that it is not official.
  13. Jose Contreras is temporarily going to be the closer for the Phils: http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/blog/roto_...=fantasy,238335 He's also throwing the hardest he has in his career and has a 14:0 K:BB.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 2, 2010 -> 12:25 AM) Based on what? I know his UZR is currently a +2, but that's a pretty small sample size and I don't think it means much of anything. He has the highest UZR/150 of any AL second baseman. I agree with you about sample size, though. I do think he is a plus fielding cond baseman, though.
  15. MiLB.com lists Castillo as released. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=543010
  16. Nice power, but his swing is way too long. He's going to K 300 times/year in the majors even with that tiny strikezone.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) He had decent power in Atlanta. Thin air in AZ helps although i don't know his splits. Hmm. Looks like it is the stadium. 1.000 SLG at home currently (!) and has been TERRIBLE on the road.
  18. Is Kelly Johnson legit? He didn't show that much power in the minors.
  19. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 03:41 PM) Anyone on the broadcast mention anything about Carlos' late scratch in today's game? Yes, sore hammy.
  20. I'm assumiing Max Ramirez was a number one pick for his bat.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) .259 and .263 batting averages for Teahen and Rios, yet if you didn't know better, you'd think they were hitting .330 by how they're praised. They've been decent hitters. No one really cares about batting average.
