  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 03:53 PM) And he was dogging it the first 100 ft. Yep. I don't think I've ever seen an inside the park homerun where the guy didn't bust it to first.
  2. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 08:36 PM) I hope we someday get to see a slayer and mr perfect tag team. I assume you are talking about Mark Buehrle since Curt Hennig is dead. I don't think the world is ready for Mark Buehrle in spandex.
  3. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 11:08 PM) I'm curious did our fans boo the white sox? I was talking to my brother the other day thinking they would get booed. The White Sox were not going to get booed coming off victories against Joe Nathan and the Cubs.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 5, 2009 -> 12:54 PM) He barely spent any time in AAA this year. He'll start 2010 in AAA unless he blows the Sox brass away in Spring Training. He may get a call up in June or July of 2010 if he's needed, but he probably won't start a season in the rotation until 2011. I would hope that his performance in September relief duties or maybe a spot start would factor into their decision more than spring training. He spent very little time at ANY level--and yet they kept moving him up.
  5. Alex Gonzalez has no walks in 70 odd plate appearances for the Red Sox this year.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) I heard that Jorge. That was interesting to hear. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) Twice if he was awake Well, I'm sure he saw some of Flowers in spring training. I just am pretty skeptical about seeing a guy a few times and then determining that he has this singular trait that you've only seen one other guy have. I had no idea that Hudson was as funky as he is. He almost has a three-quarters slot and wings the ball in there. Will they leave him in to get the save?
  7. Did anyone catch Hawk rambling on about how Flowers is the only player he's ever considered to have Jim Rice-like strength? How many times has Hawk seen this guy bat?
  8. I wish we would stop hitting these homeruns. Too much slug-ball.
  9. Twins announcers "They can't even execute a pitch-out effectively."
  10. The Twin's radio announcers were going nuts about CQ pulling up on Kubel's hit. They thought he could've caught it.
  11. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 10:09 AM) Found this on another site: "To me, Thome symbolizes KW giving right back in to the urge to have the same offense he had from 01-04. On the WS video, he brags about dumping Maggs, Carlos, and Jose to become more versatile. The next season we become station to station again. This team needed to dump Thome. It needs speed and non-pull hitters. Get back to pitching and defense. " This team does need pitching and defense. They should not be looking for pitching or defense from the designated hitter position of the lineup.
  12. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 09:26 AM) I know he had a high on-base. An I'm not making an argument. I didn't like him. We moved away from slug-ball in 2005 and we won it all. Then we moved back to it in 2006 and we went back to mediocrity. It's not a coincidence IMO. Give me guys who can run and play defense....not the complete opposite (Thome). There weren't a lot of players who could run on that team.
  13. Or a single second baseman for that matter? Wocka wocka wocka
  14. Farmer and DJ mentioned the elbowing first basemen thing. They did not indicate that it was something he only did with friends of his.
  15. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 07:51 PM) I think Ozzie has Jenks in his fantasy league as well But does John Danks?
  16. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 07:46 PM) I hope Jenks can get a save this evening....I need one out of him for my fantasy league. Boo to you, sir. Well, I guess that would be a win.
  17. Clayton Richard has NOT been good for the Padres. He has been lucky. He hasn't been able to work long into games because his WHIP has been 1.56 and his K:BB has been 20:18.
  18. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 10:58 PM) I lived at Bromley for two years...89-90 and 90-91. We saw a food truck delivering some food...roast beef boxes said: Grade D: But Edible I s*** you not. And we never ate the roast beef again. http://www.snopes.com/food/prepare/badmeat.asp Hmm.
  19. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 01:41 PM) Anyone know how long he's been a Sox fan for? Has it just been since hes move to Chicago? Correct me if I'm wrong, but he moved here in like 2000 right? He's lived in Chicago since 1985. He attended Harvard Law starting in 1988, but summered in Chicago. Then he moved back to Chicago after graduating. Don't know how long he's been a Sox fan.
  20. QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 08:00 AM) I'm never happy when a player is demoted. That is never a good sign for the club, it means some player has been under-performing, often by a huge delta. So I am sad for Contreras, worried that they are pushing Peavy because of the playoff race and needing a boost. Even Wilson Betemit?
  21. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 22, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) my how things change Danks walked 3 batters in the third inning. He had five walks through 3. He was messing with his finger and jamming it in his pocket. Closeup shots of the finger looked rough. He went into the clubhouse with Hermie and several members of the coaching staff after the third. They did something that got him straight for the rest of the game.
