ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Squirmin' for Yermin's topic in FutureSox Board
Kopech was ranked #3, behind Otani and Whitley. https://www.mlb.com/news/2018-top-10-right-...cts/c-264702134 Kopech was given the 3rd best FB of the top 10 group, and tied with Otani for best slider. -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 15, 2018 -> 05:03 PM) Jimenez and??? Rutherford, I suppose. -
Three Billboards was really really good. Not sure how I feel about the ending, but the rest of the movie was great.

Damn title made me think it was going to be an interesting quote, and not more fuel to a long rumored course of action.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 12, 2018 -> 11:54 AM) I'd be interested in the results of a poll that included all options, because I don't think either of the two listed options will end up being the Opening Day starter When I clicked the thread, my intention was to pick Gio.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 14, 2018 -> 08:51 PM) It always amazes me how so many collegian and professional athletes can be so incredibly gifted and at the same time so unbelievably unaware of situations that occur within games they’ve played their entire lives. I thought the clusterf*** there was going to be Diggs not trying to go out of bounds. Instead, it was the safety not even laying a damn body part on the wide open tackle he had. Crazy. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 08:06 PM) Hmm, I seem to think you already did... Yeah, assuming you're referring to the bet, who did I even make it with? I never got a PM from that person looking to claim their Portillos beef. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 03:49 AM) He's a RFA after this season Right, but for how many years does he carry that designation? Do the Hawks control him for only 2 more years, or could it be 4 more years? I don't know all the nuances of RFA. -

Love that this kid is a real speedster. Although I'm confused about how many years of team control we have on him. -
Who will be 2018's 5th starter?

Clay Buchholz, after the Sox sign him to a minor league deal, $4M if he makes the team. -
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 09:37 AM) This is interesting because I just tried playing WatchDogs 2 last night for the first time in months. It was really difficult at first because I've completely forgotten all the controls. I'm at a point in the game to where I've completed all the story missions, all the side missions, upgraded all my weapons and skills and have bought almost all the clothes and vehicles that the game has to offer. Basically I just drove around the city a little, caused some havoc and got chased by the police. Then entered a few restricted areas and caused some more havoc, but there really wasn't any type of reward for doing any of it. I found a few caches of money and went around and hacked a handful of peoples bank accounts with my phone but I've already got like half a million dollars in my account. There are a few missions that apparently spawn infinitely that involve sneaking into a restricted area. You can also play them co-op. Other than that, I've discovered that I'm completely bored with the game. Although it was fun when I had stuff to do. Well I mean, if you've played the game to 100%, then I guess I'm not shocked you've become bored with it. lol I just remembered I also have to finish Far Cry 4 before the 5th one comes out. God damn 1st World Problems.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 08:37 AM) Bryant only has one year left on his deal and it's for 12.5 million. Not a crazy contract number, but the problem is that he really isn't that good anymore. You are not getting a 2nd or 3rd round pick from a team. Not for an aging player that hasn't had a thousand yard season in three years. Dallas has cap issues and if they want to bring Demarcus Lawrence back they may have to cut Bryant. So maybe you could talk a team into giving you a 6th round pick or something like that. Dallas also has to sign Zac Martin to a long term deal this year and he is going to be the highest paid guard in the NFL. Browns have plenty of draft picks and cap space. They could just draft a young WR and then sign someone like Allen Robinson. I thought Dez has 2 years left. -

Being a casual football fan, and a Cowboys fan...does trading Dez Bryant for a collection of draft picks make any sense? And does he have much value due to his big dollars contract? Guys at work were discussing how the Browns have 4 top 35 picks in 2018, and how they could really jump start their rebuild by trading a couple of them for a high end WR to pair with their "presumable" 1st RD pick QB. Does trading Dez Bryant for a couple of their 2nd RD picks make any sense for either team? I like Dez, but I just feel like him and Dak are never in sync. The offense will go through Elliot. Why not trade Dez for some draft picks to either bolster the OL, or get some defensive studs. Are 2 2nd RD picks too much? A 2nd and a 3rd? Honestly not sure how to value Dez due to his contract, but the Browns having SO many picks seems to be a viable trading partner. -
Where does Luis Robert start 2018?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in FutureSox Board
I think the real 2018 goal in High-A, but I'm sure they will start him off in Low-A Kanny to *hopefully* let him feast for a month or so, then spend the rest of the year in W-S. Then maybe do the same thing in 2019, but obviously up a level. Then maybe make the majors by sometime in 2020 when he's 23. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 04:53 PM) If Robert starts 2019 in AA, he is ending the year on the MLB roster, barring something terrible happening. He said "ending in Double A the next year". Which means he splits his 2019 season in High-A and AA. Not starting the 2019 in AA. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 7, 2018 -> 09:33 PM) Aren't you the world's biggest Cowboys fan? World's biggest? Nah, there are far bigger fans than me. I don't follow football enough to consider myself a diehard fan of any team. Cowboys are my #1 team though, yeah. -

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 7, 2018 -> 12:10 AM) Yes indeed! Tito is one of those guys I could see being an easy fan favorite. Loud speaker: Tito! Fans: Polo! Very underrated point. Could definitely see fan sections yelling "Titoooo"...."Poloooo" to each other across the stadium. Rooting for him even harder now! -

I mean, Alex Call will always be my boy, but I'm going to reach waaaaayyy down the list. Not even in mlb.com's top 30 for us..... Tito Polo! He hit .301 across 2 levels this year, and stole 34 bases. Came over in the Yankees trade with Rutherford and Clarkin. -
2018 better or another chase for the first overall pick?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Dominikk85's topic in Pale Hose Talk
For the first time in.....MANY years, I anticipate rooting for wins all year long. This roster is almost entirely filled, or will be filled, with our "future". I'd like to see them improve, I'd like to see them win. In years prior, we had enough veterans and fillers that I wanted them to lose, even at the expense of many of those same vets and fillers. But now, losing will come at the hand of our young core. That's not what I want. WIN BABY, WIN. AND DAMNIT IT FEELS GOOD AGAIN. -
I don't think anyone here doesn't understand the Cubs and Red Sox have bigger fan bases. Obviously. But it's still s***ty to highlight long droughts, but choose the 1st and 3rd longest, ignoring the 2nd longest which ended in between those 2 listed. I mean, for f***s sake, throw a 3rd logo on that graphic, it's not that hard, especially when they get called out for this same topic many times already recently.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 6, 2018 -> 10:10 PM) You are correct, in the middle of a review at the end of the first half with Wow that's savage and amazing and accurate. -
Actually having a lot of fun playing WatchDogs 2. It's a little intimidating with the amount of controls and buttons to hit, but the environment is VERY lively and there is always s*** to do. Still not really interested in the story too much at this point, I just find myself doing side missions and races all the time. One of the best aspects of the WatchDogs franchise is the ability to be really creative with missions due to the various ways to use technology for your advantage. For example, one mission had me try to steal a truck from a compound. Instead of figuring out how to get through the locked (and unpenetrable) gates, I used my hacking abilities to have a BOLO put out on one of the security people at the compound. The police were alerted to the falsified police report and they stormed the place. The guards had to open the door for the police, so I snuck in through the gate. Then, I hacked a forklift and drove in the opening of the gate so it couldn't be closed. Then I set off an explosion to make the cops think the security detail was causing trouble, a firefight ensued between police and compound security, and I simply snuck in to the truck and drove it out of the gate while everyone was distracted. I ignored all the traditional puzzles to unlock the gates and bypass security. It was pretty satisfying. Long story short, it's not worth the full $60 it was before, but just like Mafia 3, it's totally worth the $25-30 you can find it for now. Driving mechanics still suck, but the cell phone "menu" and music and environment are tremendous.
