  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 7, 2016 -> 04:47 PM) This is a bad analogy. Quality rebuttal.
  2. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 7, 2016 -> 01:04 PM) I don't think they're playing with with fire at all. They have a price that they are willing to pay for Fowler. Fowler hasn't agreed to that price yet. The White Sox should not up that offer just to get something done if they've established the value that they feel comfortable signing him for with the forfeiture of a top 30 pick. If I need a hotel for a night but I say I only want to get a sweet deal of $15 for the night, there is a damn good chance I am going to end up sleeping in my car that night, regardless of if hotels will have unused rooms that night or not.
  3. Essentially, this is how I am envisioning this going..... replace the dollar with all the FA outfielders this offseason...
  4. I was thinking, doesn't it seem like at this rate we could be nearing Opening Day and the Sox still haven't added an OF yet because there is still 1 or 2 guys left on the market that they are waiting to steal a sweetheart deal from? I feel like they are playing with fire right now with the waiting game and at some point some team is going to say "f*** it, here" and sign these guys because they are tired of seeing the holes on their roster. I just feel like the Sox are trying to squeeze every last penny out of these players to hope a sweet ass deal falls in their lap in it makes me extremely nervous that nothing gets done.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 5, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) I wasn't aware his time machine to 2012 was operational. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...t=0&start=0
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 4, 2016 -> 11:26 PM) Because Chris Sale is in front of him. If that is really how they feel, then they also must say Zach Grienke was not an ace last season, because Kershaw was in front of him. Or that awesome Phillies rotation from a few years ago with Hamels, Cliff Lee, and Roy Halladay. Only one of them was an ace? Or Mulder/Zito/Hudson. Only 1 of them could be an ace at one time? I consider an ace to basically mean you're a top 10-15 pitcher in the game. Not that you are the best guy on your staff.
  7. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 4, 2016 -> 09:53 PM) Not really a fan of that swing, long loading mechanism and really doesn't seem to have the type of bat speed needed to turn on MLB fastballs and drive the ball. Seems like his lower half is fighting his top half at times as well. That said, that's just like my opinion from watching half a dozen swings in the cage. Obviously he has some skills but I think Caulfield made a good point about his age and level and performance as well. He's supposed to make strides given his relative age -- if he can hold his own at AA with the bat then maybe you talk about him as an MLB regular. Personally I see a speedy 4th OF at best. Is your opinion of his swing Pre-AFL, where he changed his swing and saw instant and eye-popping results? Because I think that's significant to those who ask if his AFL results were random.
  8. I think it's hilarious/unfair that so many of the comments say "Quintana seems to be incredibly underrated. The stats and value say he is an ace. I voted no". Ok....so THEN WHY DID YOU VOTE NO? People are idiots.
  9. Well, on my way to Muncie for the Macklemore and Ryan Lewis concert. Saw them 4 years ago at IU.
  10. Well you should certainly take her to the vet immediately.
  11. Also, Firewatch FINALLY got a price. The game comes out in a week and finally a price. $17.99 on pre-order! http://www.firewatchgame.com/ Can't wait for that game. I've been following it for....around 6 months or so.
  12. Ho-lee Humble Bundle..... https://www.humblebundle.com/ Just got the $15 one. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Grow Home Rayman Origins Far Cry 3 Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China Assassin's Creed Rogue The Crew For $15.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 1, 2016 -> 04:45 PM) We have Soler, his name is Avi Garcia. Uh...no.
  14. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 07:23 AM) Every Manfred interview I have seen makes it all but certain that an International Draft is coming very soon, so hopefully issues like this won't arise for much longer. But credit teams like the Cubs and Dodgers for using the system to their advantage unlike the Sox. Which just means the teams who are getting that 2-year penalty likely won't even serve the full penalty once the draft is put in place, unless there is some sort of carryover penalty that is introduced, if that will even fly.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 30, 2016 -> 11:17 PM) I feel like people are SEVERELY overrating the value of the compensation pick in this situation. Yeah, the Sox need to build their system, but they also need to win NOW while the core is cheap and young. For every Trout that gets picked 25th or so overall, there's also 25 Aaron Poreda's who flame out and never amount to anything significant. The bottom line in my opinion is that the Sox need to win now, and unless the guy that they plan on picking with the compensation pick is a lock (or as close to a lock that a draft pick can be) to contributing soon, I don't mind giving up the pick for the sure thing in Fowler who can help the team out significantly in the present. If my options are Avi Garcia on Opening Day or Fowler, I'm taking Fowler, but my point is that other, less costly options are still available.
  16. Don't sign Fowler until Jackson isn't available and you've exhausted trade opportunities. It would really sting to lose the 25th overall pick for him.
  17. If it honestly only cost us a bullpen arm, I would for sure do it. Jennings has a decent chance of being a 3-3.5 WAR improvement over Avi for little cost, doesn't increase payroll, and we keep all draft picks obviously.
  18. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 05:25 PM) http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=ss For comparison sake, Cubs prospect Gleyber Torres is at 9. This one really surprises me. That means if Contreras is the #1 catching prospect in baseball, there are AT LEAST 9 SS ranked before the first catcher. Or maybe I am mixing publications together.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 07:20 AM) I plug my iPhone into USB to charge and then connect Aux cable. Well then nevermind.
  20. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 04:29 PM) Grabbed one when Amazon had them on sale last year half thinking I wouldn't use it often enough to justify the cost but I've probably used it everyday since. Really cool piece of tech. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 04:30 PM) Yeah like Kalapse said I found myself using it a lot more than I thought. Wait, seriously? How do you use it? I can't imagine.
  21. Maybe I'm wrong, but these are simply ZiPS projections, not Fangraphs. Fangraph's also shows STEAMER projections on their site as well.
  22. I agree with everyone here. It's Mets, and Mets by a wide margin.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 08:45 AM) So I've been invited to two separate bachelor parties planned for the same weekend (Mar 31-Apr 2). One is in Vegas, the other is in Nashville. I've already been to Vegas but never Nashville. I've heard good things about Nashville, but I can't say I've ever been in to the whole country scene. Anyone who's been to both places have an opinion on the two cities comparison wise? I've only been to Nashville, but I LOVED it. I would totally go back there if I ever get the chance.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 06:43 PM) Well shoot. I've been using the Aux input. I don't think I've ever read a manual for any of my cars before. Do you have an Android phone and a usual spot where you put your phone in your car?
