Come on Posey, one time for the people.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 11:19 PM) I'm all for high draft picks, but I want a win tonight I don't. Sale already can't get the win. There is no incentive to win this game anymore.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 11:04 PM) LOL. Who cares about draft position when your team gets embarrassed like that? Those of us who know a draft pick for many years is more important than hurt feelings for 24 hours.

Pretty much a perfect scenario so far. Sale dominates for 8 innings, and we could still possibly come away with the loss. Draft position baby!

Tony Stewart purposefully ran someone over?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 12:55 PM) Again, it's been stated that a common thing drivers do during a confrontation such as that will be to accelerate away from the confrontation to prevent it from escalating. You may well be right but this entire thread ought to demonstrate that it's certainly not "obvious". "What happens when you hit that throttle is the car is going to move to the right . . . Stewart had to know that if he hit the throttle with a man standing on the dirt to his right, there was a good chance the car would hit him, which means there's a good chance he could be killed," Becker said Fox Sports 1. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 09:25 AM) I've been renting and watching BBC's Sherlock (I'm just one episode into season 2). I like it, but only 3 episodes a season is a sad disappointment. It's a fantastic show. 2nd only to Shameless on TV right now, IMO.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 12:13 AM) One huge piece of evidence would be any cockpit recordings with the crew...not unlike a flight data recorder. I doubt that exists...or if there's any damning evidence, they probably would have wiped it already, even though tampering with evidence would be considered a felony, Stewart saying something that demonstrates malice and forethought like "I'm going to teach this punk kid a lesson" that would be the end of his career. There was apparently a Go Pro attached. Whether that was inside the car our outside, I'm not sure, but it would be great footage to see. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 09:27 PM) Is it your belief that he got out because he was concerned about those issues? Nope, just found it interesting that getting out is the right move. -
Ugh. This sucks.

Sprint car racer Jeremy Campbell: "You want to try to get out of your car as soon as possible,” Campbell said. “Because in case the fuel line does break or in case there's some kind of fire. I always try to get out.” Interesting. -
QUOTE (OilCan @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 06:57 PM) So.....I wonder who will be Robin Williams when Hollywood eventually makes a biography on him. Would be interesting. This guy. Or Bono.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 06:29 PM) .8 seconds? He could see him and the cars moving out of the way from the other side of the track. Stewart knew exactly what he was doing when he tried to buzz him. The problem is the either the guy walked down furteher or Stewart misjudged the distance and accidentally hit him instead. He had plenty of time to totally avoid the situation. .....uh oh..... -

QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 05:19 PM) I'm done. You've clearly vilified Tony to the point nothing will change your mind on the topic. And suddenly you get called out from a few people and backtrack on your thoughts. Now you claim both are at fault when yesterday according to you it was "victim blaming" to fault Ward at all. Lol, clearly you've already got your mind made up of what you wanted me to think. So go ahead and continue to make up lies and make inaccurate assumptions. That sounds better than actually realizing your insults to me are insults to people like Caufield too, who seems to share the same views as me on this. Makes it more exciting for you if I am out alone by myself on this one. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 05:17 PM) If the Ward family doesn't go after Stewart, I would be more inclined to side with this POV. Surely, there's going to be a tremendous amount of pressure on them not to BLAME Stewart for their son's death. Of course, that means they have to blame their own son for his actions, and that's going to be incredibly difficult. Remember, the father is also a driver/racer....Kevin Ward, Sr. I think he might even have been in the same race. I think I heard that his parents were both in attendance. -

QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 05:07 PM) Lol It's pretty clear from the position you're taking in this thread that yes indeed you do believe he did it on purpose. Nope. But I'll go ahead and tell you exactly what I think happened so you can stop being so wrong every time. I think he tried to either scare the s*** out of the kid, or he tried to fling dirt and rocks up on him. I DO NOT believe he tried to hit the kid. I certainly DO NOT believe he tried to kill the kid. I think it was bad luck that he happened to hit the kid and he probably feels horrible about it. The kid was very dumb from walking towards the moving cars, and Stewart was extremely reckless as well. Both were at fault, both deserve some blame in what happened. Never happens without both of their actions. There. Now feel free to reply without pretending like you think you know my viewpoint on what happened. -

QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 05:04 PM) Debating with you is pointless. You've got this biased view that tony did it purposefully Nope. Never once said he killed the kid on purpose. Enough with the constant lies. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 04:57 PM) Tony Stewart is kind of an asshole and has had altercations so you think that means that he purposely tried to run over a person? Do you have any idea how stupid that sounds? I never said he tried to purposefully run over a person. Stop having arguments that no one is having. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 04:53 PM) it's easy to say what your instincts would be since you have NEVER been in that situation or been on a track. you really look foolish in this thread because it's obvious you have zero experience but you sure have all the answers. LOL. Ok. -

QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 04:47 PM) Because he got in a couple of fights? Give me a break. No, I will not give you a break. He has shown anger and retaliation on the track before. Of course people would think he would be more likely to be do something out of anger than Jimmie Johnson, whom I assume is not a hot head, based on your use of him as the other extreme. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 04:44 PM) Right but you can't prove that he had enough time to do that. He's worried about driving and not seeing what that idiot was doing. You have been assuming an awful lot in this thread. I have to assume what my first instinct would be in that situation. I'm not a soothsayer. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 04:28 PM) If he would have hit the breaks on the dirt he probably would have still hit him. My first instinct would be to accelerate through as well. Get off the f***ing track. My first instinct would be to drive low on the track where it's flat and not near the guy yelling coming towards my car. -

QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 04:15 PM) Man imagine if this same exact scenario had happened to someone like Jimmie Johnson. I highly doubt as many people jump to the he did it on purpose conclusion so fast. And rightfully so. Tony Stewart has a tainted history. -

So are the top 11 picks protected this year because of the Astros' extra pick? I believe this was an issue a couple years ago as well, I just don't remember the outcome.
