Tony Stewart purposefully ran someone over?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Steve9347's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 10:21 AM) One thing mentioned in my morning paper is that in this type of racing when there is a confrontation like this it isn't atypical for the driver still in the car to accelerate in order to speed away from the brewing confrontation. And to ride high on the track in the direction of the confrontation during a caution? -
Hell on Wheels added some nice Federal Law baddies this season. But for like the 3rd season in a row we have to watch the people of Cheyenne be surprised that Bohannon is still alive as he returns to town, thought to be dead.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 12:44 AM) Pure speculation on your part rightnow that Stewart was pissed off here. Maybe Stewart did it on purpose, maybe Stewart was just trying to scare him or maybe it was just a freak accident but the other driver is a f***ing moron for putting himself and Stewart in this situation. Yeah, Ward put Stewart in that situation...... nice victim-blaming. -

QUOTE (TRU @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 09:07 PM) Gimme a break, bottom line is if the guy doesn't get out of his car and walk almost to the middle of an ACTIVE RACE no one is dead right now. And if Tony Stewart didn't have a temper and was pissed off, no one is dead either. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 06:20 PM) Just seems to be a bit insensitive when Stewart has a reputation as being such an arrogant driver. He's not exactly someone who has built up the goodwill of a Jimmie Johnson or Jeff Gordon. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 10:29 AM) * ITT: You get out of your car, you deserve to have someone recklessly threaten your life, and if you happen to get killed, so be it. When you say "ITT", it means "In This Thread". You say it right before you sum up the stupid theme of the comments in that thread. I was mocking those insensitive people for their extremely callous comments on what should happen to a driver who leaves his vehicle. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 11:41 AM) Would you still feel the same way if it was a 16-18 year old racer? 19? No matter how inexperienced? No matter the fact that no circuit has a policy or system in place to deal with these issues...in other words, that "machisimo" element of settling things through fighting and arguing has been part of the culture of racing for decades. It seems like that will have to be addressed, because they won't be able to ignore it or shove it under the rug when the eventual fallout (any charges against Stewart...loss of sponsorships, civil court case, etc.) settles. It is also what helps to sell tickets and drive interest, just like the vicious hits in hockey or football. What? -
It's about that time of the year again...

And that's a White Sox loser! Sox gain a game on San Diego, Texas, Cubs, Dbacks or Rockies, Red Sox, Twins, and Phillies. Today was an amazing day for us. We gained the MAXIMUM possible games today. The only teams below us that lost, are ones that played another team below us. Sox now sit 1/2 game out of the 10th pick, and only 4.5 GB of the Cubs for the 5th pick. -

I honestly feel sick after watching the video. Really unsettling. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 01:47 AM) I think he'll be up in the majors by sometime next year. The kid is just so advanced for his age. I hope not. Let him finish out the year in W-S. Start him in AA next year, and hope he finishes in AAA. Give him a shot at the 2016 rotation in the spring when he is just 21.

Hawk still thinks Beckham is the greatest defensive 2B of all time. Also, come on Paulie, couldn't even get his shoes off the ground for that one. -
I like that since his promotion to High-A, the only 19-year-old Danish has seen his K/9 and his BB/9 improve. K/9 has gone from 5.92 to 7.84. BB/9 has gone from 2.37 to 2.31 Which means his K/BB has improve from 2.5 to 3.4.

Mitchell with a leadoff HR for CHA. He is now 5/24 in his return to AAA with 1 HR, 5 RBI, 1 BB, 5 K in 5+ games.

Last night was the best episode of Girl Meets World to date. They showed a flashback to Boy Meets World.

Suck for draft picks or what? I think I'm there now. At 55-62, we currently sit with the #11 pick. Only 4 or 5 GB of a top 5 pick. I think we can do it boys. BELIEVE! http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/reversestandings

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 11:59 PM) Gave up 6 hits tonight: 1 homer, 1 fly ball, 1 line drive and 3 ground balls. Last start he gave up 8 hits: 4 line drives and 4 ground balls. So a lot of balls getting through the infield. Hard, fast infields in AZ.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 12:46 PM) That I am not sure of.. My mom said her tv went out that they bought not even 2 years ago and said they think it is the video board. She wasn't specific and I doubt she knows that.. I was going to buy it if the repair wasn't going to be outrageous I ask because I own a 32" Plasma Vizio that had an overheating problem. The TV eventually stopped clicking on. My dad and I took it apart and replaced some of the bulging capacitors, soldering the new ones in, and my TV has been working like new since then. I think that was maybe 18 months ago. The capacitors cost like 8 cents each. We bought a bunch of extras just in case, but it was like $14 for all the capacitors after shipping. Then the soldering gun, and the entire cost to fix was like $30. Took maybe an hour to fix.

Any tweets on his velocity?

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 12:42 AM) Anybody have a clue how much it would cost to fix a video board on a Vizio 50 inch TV? By video baord, do you mean the actual screen, or the circuit board with capacitors?

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 12:57 AM) Green = time spent not paying attention to smart device whatsoever Red = time accessing device, ie. removing from pocket, tapping unlock pin code Blue = time spent interacting with device So the argument is that you'll interact with your smartwatch more often, but for much less time per interaction and far less overall time interacting. It's too passive to become a time sink. So Google imagines you will barely use your smartwatch at all? While I agree, why would they want to advertise that? "Hey, buy this expensive product, look, you'll barely even use it!" Haha, no?

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 11:17 PM) A timeline of the way we use phones: A timeline of the way Google imagines you'll use your smartwatch: I pondered the "why smartwatches" question in this blog post, but it is to a large extent summarized by the above two graphics I couldn't understand those graphics any less.
