8/18 Games
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 12:09 AM) Sounds like we all have the same dream I spent about 4 hours a week or two ago researching baseball jobs that fit my search and skills. Didn't even find a single one to apply to, and I am looking for ANY minor league or major league team. Sucks out there if you don't have a business/marketing degree.

Orioles vs White Sox game thread
I'm not sure if it's been said already, but check this out.... In games in which Chris Sale has started.... Sale has allowed 33 ER. The bullpen has allowed 36 ER. That's impressive, almost.

8/18 Games
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 08:51 PM) Thank you. I'm a college student, so in my free time I do this. Follow everything pretty close as one day I'd love to be in the front office of an MLB team. You and I are in the exact same boat. Should add you on Facebook so we can share leads on baseball jobs or something.

Carlos Rodon prospect watch
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 03:31 PM) Did Appel do well to start off last year? He pitched nicely in 2013 after he signed. Didn't dominate, but they were what you'd consider encouraging numbers. His problem in 2014 is that he has become insanely hittable. His K/9 and BB/9 numbers aren't terrible, he is just allowing asstons of hits and homeruns. Interesting enough, since his promotion in AA this year, his rates have all gone the opposite way. He is now striking out less, walking more, but reducing his H/9, and cut his HR/9 down substantially, which has resulted in his ERA being dropped to normal figures. He just has to put that all together now.

Carlos Rodon prospect watch
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Aug 17, 2014 -> 07:10 PM) Let him be in the pen to end the year that's fine. He'll start next year Tick, tick, tock, tick, tick, tock, tick, tick, tock.

Carlos Rodon prospect watch
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 17, 2014 -> 07:01 PM) That tells me it's very likely he's in our rotation and on the Opening Day roster next year. I'm positive it means he will be on the roster next year. Whether they choose to give him a full season in the bullpen like they did with Sale is not known until next March.

Carlos Rodon to Charlotte
3 starrts, then he joins Chicago bullpen, according to Stoney today.

Carlos Rodon prospect watch
Stoney said today on the broadcast that Rodon will get 3 starts in Charlotte, then join the Sox bullpen. Ugh.

2014 TV thread
Last Comic Standing ended last night. Lachlan Patterson got severely robbed. Rod man is not great, but thank god Nikki Carr didn't win. She is terrible.

Carlos Rodon prospect watch
Since we have like 4 threads about Rodon, I guess I'll just reiterate here.... I hope Rodon does NOT make any appearances with the Sox this season. I want him in a Sox uni no earlier than April of next year, but I PREFER he get his chance in June of next year when Super 2 passes. He should finish the year in AA, and then start next year in either AA or AAA until June.

8/14 games
Beck - 5 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K. He's been solid since returning to AAA.

Rob Manfred is the new MLB Commissioner
I read an article that was pretty much scathing about Jerry, saying that he was pretty much bullying everyone in to picking Werner and Werner was his boy. Also sounds like he was dogging Mansfred and talking s*** about him. So I wonder if this Manfred guy winning is bad news for us while Jerry is still our owner.

Anyone know who the 6 ACE program kids are? I really hope one of them is Pierce Jones.

2015 MLB Draft
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 01:20 PM) Sox have made it up to tenth, so they are in protected pick territory. Sounds like a deep class of HS OF and some more pretty good HS pitching in next years draft. Nix and Aiken may also be available again based on rumors that they may be looking at going to a juco together. Top 11 are protected.

Tony Stewart purposefully ran someone over?
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 03:38 PM) The discussion on why he was racing in the first place was like, the smallest part of this entire thread. Because he enjoys racing in sprint cars? I don't really see why it matters what Stewart wants to do in his free time. Seems inconsequential, no?

8/13 Games
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 06:28 PM) It almost seems like there's no way we don't see Rodon up this year. I don't want to see him until the first week of next season, but I prefer to see him after the Super 2 passes sometime in early June.

Ticket Deals 8/15-8/17 vs. Blue Jays (and Buehrle)
I've always wished that the Sox would do some sort of $5 early admission thing to watch the Sox take BP.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!
Wish I got to see more of Sale tonight. I'll await the video compilation of his 12 Ks. I think I only saw 2 of them.

Sox @ Gigantes
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 01:32 AM) I despise Gordon, but give him credit. He won this game (along with Sale of course). If that ball gets through, Sox lose, no question about it. So the advanced stat people need to put this W in Beckham's list of advanced stats. He is solely responsible for the win (once the s*** bullpen blew it for Cy Young winner). Ugh. I want a win every day. It's gonna be a long six weeks in game threads. We will be sure to add a random win to Gordon's season for you, since that's exactly how it works.

Sox @ Gigantes
QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 01:20 AM) I get your angle here but c'mon man, openly rooting for a loss is pretty weak and highly annoying....At least last year we were realistically looking at a top 3 pick. If you wanna celebrate afterwards so be it, but actively rooting for it during games? Weak sauce. I'm sorry you feel that way.

Sox @ Gigantes
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 12:40 AM) Yes, we need another Courtney Hawkins or Jared Mitchell. Yipee. Oh, I'm sorry, you must not like having Carlos Rodon, a product of a terrible season last year. And FYI: Jared Mitchell was the 23rd overall. That would take a miracle for us to be good enough to get stuck with the 23rd pick.

Tony Stewart purposefully ran someone over?
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 12:21 PM) It's obvious you have a pretty clear agenda here...we get it...you think Stewart is at fault. Yeah, I've got an agenda. Caught me.

Sox @ Gigantes
QUOTE (1dog @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 11:29 PM) So you're only pulling for meaningless stats from our best pitcher? I don't understand. I'm pulling for success of players who matter to our future. And a loss, every day.
