  1. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 03:14 PM) High leverage situations = runners on base. The debate is using your best reliever to pitch a 9th with no one on; versus to pitch with 1 out in the 7th with 2 runners on. I thought hitting a HR in the 1st inning does less for a hitter's Leverage Index than hitting one in the 9th inning?
  2. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 03:05 PM) I appreciate Hawk and Stone calling out the people who think getting 3 outs in the 9th is no different than earlier innings. But I understand some people just never played on sports teams growing up. Even sabermetrics agrees with that. High leverage situations.
  3. I can't decide if I want the Sox to win this game, or lose. This is a real internal struggle for me.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 02:54 PM) Worst 8-9 in Sox history? Back in 2007, the Sox 7-8-9 hitters were Mackowiak, Josh Fields, and Alex Cintron. I'd argue that's worse.
  5. I'm surprised Garcia was not safe on that.
  6. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 02:47 PM) That was something like in a video game lol I bet he's done it about a dozen times or more now.
  7. It took Robin 2 pitches to remember that Tank is slow and not good on defense. Lol......ok then.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 02:41 PM) Parade tomorrow, so they want to help control traffic The traffic and the fact that the Cubs wouldn't even draw 1,000 people while the Pride Parade is going on. Gay people love their Cubs. It's a good business decision.
  9. Why does Adam Eaton always seem to spike the ball directly in to the ground when he is not throwing for home? Is he trying to trick people in to thinking he has a bad arm?
  10. Oh my god, that Surkamp slurve to Lind. Disgusting.
  11. Good job by Ventura to pull Sale after 7. He had good stuff, he just couldn't locate today. And Encarnacion would have been another horrible matchup.
  12. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 01:02 PM) How did Stan Bowman get a live body in return for Bollig? Technically he didn't. But then that currency turned in to a live body, and a young one at that.
  13. Alright, that's got to be it for Sale right there. Don't let him face Encarnacion again. He has already displayed NO interest in pitching to him.
  14. Also, Jays fans must be ready for rip Gibbons head off for that move. Why pull Stroman who has dominated Viciedo in his first 2 AB? Awful decision to pull him there.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 01:47 PM) Johnson replaces Beckham, Avi replaces Viciedo. Do you expect ADA, Flowers and Dunn back? What if they trade Alexei? I already figured in Avi, that's why I said 5 spots, not 6. And it's not a matter of me not wanting it to happen, it's a matter of Hahn being able to turn over THAT much of the roster in one season.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 01:40 PM) I could see a situation where only Eaton, Conor and Abreu are starting next year from this lineup. There is no way this team is going to turn over 5 line-up spots.
  17. 5 walks for Sale. This is painful to watch.
  18. Sale is being WAY too scared of Encarnacion. 3 walks? Come on dude. Last start he gave up the most hits of his career. Today he may allow the most walks of his career.
  19. So nice to rid ourselves of Bollig, but we are going to need to shed more than that, obviously.
  20. There is a pretty decent chance that Abreu wins his 2nd Player of the Month honor in a week or so. Sabermetrically, it would seem Trout would be the better choice, but since I'm sure that the writers don't look at that for monthly awards, Abreu's AL-leading 10 HR in June and near-the-top-of-the-pack 21 RBI combined with his .310+ BA may push him at the top once again. Adam Jones is a contender.
  21. And for comparison sake, that makes him the 7th best hitter on the team this year. He's only been better than our revolving doors of LF'ers and RF'ers.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 27, 2014 -> 11:38 PM) Dunn is hitting .230 with 12 homers and 33 rbis. To me that's blah. My guess is he's some sort of modern day hero according to his advanced stats. 0.3 WAR. Not even close to good. He's on pace to be well an average major leaguer this season.
  23. Also, I got really sad when I saw Mr. Feeny at the end of the episode. He looked really old. And I can't tell if he is dead or not. ALSO, I just watched the first episode of Boy Meets World. I totally forgot Corey had a sister. I looked up the original actress who played his sister (it switched in season 3), and my god is she pretty all grown up. She is like 22 or 23 I would guess by now. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0630091/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t13
  24. Girl Meets World was decent tonight. I liked all the parrallels it made to Boy Meets World, but it definitely had that ridiculous Disney immaturity to it. When I was watching it all I kept thinking was "Man, I can't wait until these characters get older and have more adult storylines like Shaun had with drugs and his drunk deadbeat dad." I guess I had never realized that when Boy Meets World first aired, all the characters were 12 years old, just like in Girl Meets World. I guess I always remembered their time in H.S., and not so much their seasons in middle school.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2014 -> 03:20 PM) Jeff Keppinger ‏@JKeppinger 16m Never pay someone before they do the work! All they do is make excuses on why they can't uphold their end of the deal!!! #lazy #bum He must watch To Catch a Contractor.
