  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 14, 2014 -> 04:43 PM) I fully believe Gilespie is the starting3B opening day and Phegley will end up as the starter at some point. However Davidson will replace Connor eventually. I agree with the Gillaspie/Davidson part. But I think Phegley starts in AAA and they give his spot to Nieto until either Nieto proves worthless, or Phegley improves his game in Charlotte.
  2. Phegs goes back-to-back. He's now 2-2 with 2B, HR. The two guys who are fighting for a spot today, roped a HR each.
  3. Gillaspie helps Davidson pack is bags for Charlotte.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 14, 2014 -> 04:12 PM) He is a pretty big upgrade in CF. I could practically see De Aza turning the wrong way on that one and cluelessly hitting the wall on that one.
  5. Nice catch by Spanky in deep center at about 406 feet away.
  6. QUOTE (Baron @ Mar 14, 2014 -> 03:50 PM) I absolutely hate watching Axelrod pitch For 2 reasons, the second one of which I'm not allowed to talk about.
  7. Hawk just said that Dylan Axelrod is "normally pinpoint" with his control. 2013 BB/9 - 3.02 2012 BB/9 - 3.71 2011 BB/9 - 4.34 PINPOINT.
  8. Hawks says that a lot of people think Micah Johnson is the fastest player in baseball? Huh? He's fast, but I feel like I've seen faster. He just happens to be a fantastic base stealer.
  9. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Mar 14, 2014 -> 03:13 PM) Is Axe really pitching? Spinning a perfect game.
  10. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 14, 2014 -> 01:21 PM) Statements like this are why posters are skeptical of the strategy. Does he have data around that hike or is he just feeling it? No idea. He does his research, but I don't know if he read that or is just projecting that, or if he was just kidding with me because of how fast it's gone up. I didn't ask him to elaborate, but if it reaches a dollar, we will be taking quite the family vacation, so fingers crossed.
  11. I looked through their 40 man and top prospects and I'm not really sure who we would have targeted that is equal to or better than Davidson.
  12. Really regretting not getting in to PHOT when my dad did. He bought in at 0.25, and its at 0.60 after like a month. Made a few grand so far. He's expecting it to reach $1.00 by June. I bought in to OSLH today at 0.20.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 14, 2014 -> 10:42 AM) That's interesting actually. I wish Spotify/Google Play/etc would add a feature to remove "edit" versions from their selection. So annoying when walking around and trying to figure out the difference between to albums with same title, just different images. (By same token, you could force ONLY edit versions for stupid kids) Google Play offers the ability to ONLY "scan and match" for clean versions of a song, but there is no option to NEVER use a clean version of a song. I ended up just downloading my entire 13GB library to my phone. Not happy about only having 3-4 GB left on my phone, but at least I don't have to worry about hearing clean songs, removing songs with DRM, and using my data to stream music.
  14. After spending a couple hours and 3 whole US dollar bills, I finally got my NFC music system set up in my car. Maybe this is more of a technology thread thing, but I've got my NFC tag to.... Disable WiFi, Enable Bluetooth, Connect to Bluetooth Aux adapter, Auto-play Google Play Music That last part was the real b****. I could get Play Music to open, just not start. After spending $3 on Tasker, and downloading random plugins and googling myself in to dead-ends, the answer was simply changing Trigger's "preferred media player". And now after all that, I've decided I don't want to use Play Music because it always finds the clean versions of all my songs, and that's annoying as hell. So after trying to stay away from filling my phone with music, I think I'm just going to say f*** it and copy all 13GB or so of my songs to my phone, and then manually update my phone with new music, which is annoying. If anyone has a suggestion to avoid doing that, let me know.
  15. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 11:44 AM) Let me know when your dad stops getting lucky, instead. I hate responses like this, that sound snarky but lack any real information. What kind of money are we talking about here? Why is he buying THOSE specific stocks? I saw those stocks you're buying, and there is no fundamental or technical indicators to buy either. It's like you (or he) threw darts are a board of stock names and just arbitrarily chose them. Let me ask you an honest question...do you have any idea what you're doing or why? A couple thousand here and there. And mostly pot stocks. Excuse me for being snarky when you tell me my dad doesn't know what he's doing. And I am a novice in the stock world, I just work with the small amounts of information I retain when my dad tries to educate me on the subject.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 01:35 PM) I have a very small position in OXiGENE but that has played out nicely overnight. Most of my money is in other sectors but I like to keep a small amount in biotechs just in case one like this happens to hit on a successful trial. (And in non-investing news, the positive report is great for research as well) I saw that today, 86% spike. Wowzers.
  17. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 11, 2014 -> 04:47 PM) Roommate and I went back and played Borderlands 2 as different characters, then played some of the DLCs. There is one with Tiny Tina creating her own imaginative world that has a ton of GOT and other fantasy references, it was quite possibly the best DLC ever created (obviously I don't know that but it was about as perfect as it could've been). If you're a fan of Borderlands and GOT, you have to play that DLC and do all the side quests, especially the Prince Jeffrey one. So many great jokes. The best DLC I have ever played so far has been Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Game is f***ing hilarious. RDR: Undead Nighmare is a pretty great DLC too.
  18. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 11, 2014 -> 01:17 PM) Why are you day trading in penny stock trash? You realize these are the exact types of worthless stocks that Jordan Belfort (The Wolf of Wall Street) pitched the people he was scamming, right? With computers doing day trading these days, it's impossible for a regular person to be successful at this long term. By the time you hear the news, or login to sell your stock, it's already been dumped by the computers running these elaborate schemes for traders, and there is no possible way for you to match that speed. Unfortunately, the worst thing that can happen to you is happening to you right now -- you're getting away with a few easy "wins", and it's going to convince you that you can't lose -- I assure you, in day trading you can and WILL, it's just a matter of time. And worse, you've already shown the first sign of invincibility in that you called something a "quick profit", but included the dreaded "...but I only invested 90$ in it"...meaning you're already thinking, "man, if I had only invested 1000$, instead". Don't get into this sort of trading, it's a fools game. I'll let you know when my dad stops making money on them.
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 11, 2014 -> 08:44 AM) Feels good doesn't it? Just remember, it's your personal responsibility to give up gains on your own money. Feels good, but at the same time, I find myself trying to push myself "wait 1 more day" on both the selling and buying end. I was waiting for the stock HEMP to fall to 0.10 flat before I bought. It got down to about 0.105 and I decided to "wait 1 more day". That was on Friday, and since then, it's rallied back up to 0.135 at some point today. Could have made a 30% gain in 2 days. Just put in a couple buy orders for NTRR and FITX if they drop a few more pennies.
  20. Got myself in to the stock game with my own money. I own stock that my dad bought for me when I was a kid, but this is my own money and my own account and doing it all myself. Bought stock on Tuesday. Sold it all on Friday. Make a 70% profit. Unfortunately I only invested $97. And after commissions and fees, I only ended up with a $31 gain. Blah.
  21. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Mar 9, 2014 -> 01:03 PM) Beede has a musical side as a rapper. Black Jack for the hip-hop generation? And I learned it's pronounced BEE-dee, not Bead. That was so bad. Let's NOT draft him after seeing that video. lol.
  22. Watchdogs gets another release date, May 27th.
  23. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 10:33 AM) Anybody else think this Freeman deal is a little steep? He still has 3 arb years left. I'm really surprised that they didn't wait at least one more year to see if the 2013 Freddie Freeman was the real Freddie Freeman. It just seems like a lot of money to guarantee a player that young after one good year. I'm not really a fan of the deal. Last year was heads and shoulders above any of his previous 2 full seasons. He improved by 1 win from his freshman to sophomore year, and then he improved by 3 wins last year. That's a gigantic spike. And due to his .371 BABIP. Most of his numbers stayed the same in 2013 versus 2012, except his average spiked 60 pts, and his BABIP spiked 70 points. I don't think Freeman is truly a 5 WAR player. I'd put him more around 3 wins. At $17M a year, he needs to be about 3.5 WAR every year. It's doable, but you usually expect to get a bargin when you buy out 3 years of a players arbitration. He is getting paid as if he was a free agent yesterday. Fair market value, but not something I'd give to a player with 3 arb years left.
