  1. A month earlier and we would have had Tanaka. What a crock.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 5, 2014 -> 03:50 PM) If PK wins he faces Bryce "Overrated" Harper. In other words Paulie's f***ed Bryce Harper is 100x more the "Face of MLB" than Konerko is. Same with Kershaw. If I cared enough for vote, I'd be voting for Kershaw.
  3. Oh man oh man oh man oh man. So finished Bioshock Infinite tonight. First off, great ending. I still dislike those types of games, but solid story. I had to read up about the ending for about an hour to fully grasp it. Good story. Anyway, the game that brings me here right now is Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Holy amazeballs this game is cool/hilarious. I'm sure you all know by now that Far Cry 3 was one of the best games on "old gen". Amazing storyline and characters, and a fair amount of humor. This f***ing "expansion" game though. Oh man, hilarious. I am cracking my ass up playing this game, and the gameplay is fun to boot. All I know in my 15 minutes of playing so far is that the game takes place in an 80's-style setting (In the future, but 80s music/colors/graphics), and you are a half man/half machine killing other cyborg-soldier type guys. Not sure the overall goal yet, but I'm sure it will be cool. Phil Lamar lends his voice to your sidekick "Spider". The game is full of making fun of 1980s things and video games in general. The tutorial is a joke on itself, annoyingly prompting you over and over and over again, acknowledging how annoying the tutorial is and saying things like "Press X to make this screen go away", and stuff. And then the dialogue and "tips" in the game are great too. Here are some of the either On Screen tips, or some of the loading screen comments.... "The Grenade Takedown skill robs families of any hope of ever identifying their loved ones. Are you happy now?" "When you crouch, you can "teabag" enemies, which is dropping your cyber-scrotum in their mouths." "That last cyber-soldier you killed? He just beat cancer and had one week left to retire. Hope you're proud of yourself." "When you earn enough Cyborg-Points (CP) we sacrifice a puppy in your honor." You get the idea. The game is like $2.50 for PS+ users, and I think like $15 for everyone else? So if you aren't a member, you may as well pay the $10 for the month, get the game to save $2.50, and then enjoy all the other free games available with PS+. Either way, GET THIS GAME.
  4. Of course you can win with those core. You can win with most cores of MLB teams. Its the supporting cast that changes a lot of things too.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 08:58 AM) That's just ridiculous, this isn't the NBA. Do you know what happened the last time the Sox won 79 games in a season? They drafted Chris Sale with the following year's draft pick. That mediocrity sure destroyed the franchise. Sure your odds are better of hitting on a pick when you draft in the top 3, but there are great players all over the draft and internationally. And one player doesn't determine a franchise's entire future success like in other sports. We went through this exact conversation over the summer, and I'm not going to circle the wagons again. You are fine with a mid round draft pick, I prefer a top 3 pick. Agree to disagree.
  6. I want 3B Miguel Flames, because look at that damn name. Flames....yeah, sign him up.
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 04:27 AM) Kane just lost it in the post game interview. Haven't seen him cry like that since Savard was fired. Kudos to him for even seeing the media after the game. He had an amazing game all around. Really? I thought for sure with the pulled goalie that everyone would try and get Kaner the hattrick for his gramps. And maybe they were, but never got the chance. Still, he played great.
  8. How many more dead grandpas do we need to get some life out of this team?
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 11:43 PM) As opposed to 80-82 wins? In that case, the attendance is still going to be BLAH and they're going to be picking in the middle of the 2015 draft instead of the Top 10 (probably #4-8). And the White Sox better hope that Abreu, A. Garcia and Viciedo do better than some of these preseason predictions. As opposed to 65 or less, or 85 or more. The middle 20-game stretch is rarely something you want to finish with.
  10. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 11:30 PM) How so? Are you thinking it would cause Hahn to jump the gun? I think the threshold to trigger Buy Mode is a little higher than that, personally. Anything other than a high draft pick or a playoff contender is a bad result for a season. Mediocrity is a franchise killer.
  11. My initial gut feeling says 75-76 wins, which would be awful for the rebuilding process.
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 03:38 PM) In his final 54 games and 197 PAs, Gregorius put up a .202/.296/.295/.591 line. I'm not a fan of Didi at all. He is just another Jose Iglesias, but not as good defensively. I'm just surprised that they were so jacked about getting him, said he is the SS of the future, and then after no rumors they suddenly are trying to trade him.
  13. Well, if true, this escalated quickly.... Baseball Report ‏@NickHamelinMLB 10m Report: #DBacks SS Didi Gregorius is now on the trading block and may get moved soon.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 12:43 PM) Google just released the Chromecast SDK. Soon there will be a ton of apps that can stream to Chromecast. Excellent.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 07:30 PM) We signed Felipe Paulino -- and for $1.75 million plus a $4 million team option, both reducing our risk if he's no good and drastically increasing our reward if he is. Anyway, we don't fill our pitching staff with has-beens every year because our system actually produces pitchers worth giving MLB innings. You're right. If Paulino can be fixed, he could be a July trade candidate for us to flip for a couple 'spects.
  16. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Feb 1, 2014 -> 09:00 AM) Nice, what part? Well, my family lived in Dublin. Ballsbridge, to be exact. But when we visited we traveled all around the outside of the country. Went to counties Cork, Kerry, Kilkenny, Waterford, Gallway, Limerick, all over. We saw Cliffs of Mohr, Blarney Stone, Ring of Kerry, Guinness Factory (although I stayed home for some reason that day), and a bunch of ruined castles.
  17. Kind of a slower week for Shameless. I saw a girl wearing a "Chicago Polytechnic" shirt in this episode. It's definitely not a mistake now. I'm really surprised how badly his prof and Dean was being a dick about him being late for the test. Not only have I ever taken every test I've showed up late for, but I've even been able to make up a few of them that I've just 100% missed and forgot even existed. Obviously not the same type of school, but I was surprised by how harsh they were.
  18. So Phillip Seymour Hoffman was 1 week away from completing Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2. Ouch. I wonder how important that week of filming was to the story.
  19. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Feb 1, 2014 -> 04:54 PM) Remember when I told you guys Ben Badler of Baseball America was very high on Semien? WOW Ben Badler ‏@BenBadler 8m Buying the bat, high OBP potential at a premium position RT @Jaypers413 Curious what led you to rank Semien #41 on your list? #spoiler Hah, I just came here to post that too. #41? Holy s***. We haven't had a position player in the top 50 since 2009 when Beckham was ranked #20.
  20. QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 1, 2014 -> 12:10 PM) Alex Rios walk off shot against Seattle. I remember being particularly happy when this happened. I remember that vividly. I had just turned the game on for that at-bat at the Firehouse and BOOM, Sox win.
  21. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Feb 1, 2014 -> 08:34 AM) Many people didn't enjoy Niko and Roman. I thought it was different and it wasn't so bad. I did like some of the characters. You should really play The Ballad of Gay Tony for that game. Very very fun. As far as GTAV, I play as much as I can. Hard with two kids, one being a newborn. It's the only game I pick up and play though. I didn't mind the storyline for GTA 4, but I HATED the lack of checkpoints for missions. After about the 5th time retrying a 15-minute long mission, I quit that f***ing game.
  22. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 11:42 PM) Didn't thome homer at Cleveland on opening day in 06 to kick off his sox career He homered at home, in the rain, on opening day to start his Sox career. It may have been against the Indians, but I am not sure. EDIT: Yep, it was against the Indians, in the rain, on Sunday Night Baseball, and Brandon McCarthy threw 3 perfect innings in relief of Buehrle, who left after the 3 hour rain delay.
