  1. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Sep 7, 2013 -> 05:19 PM) What do you mean what is the point? If we play .500 because the Garcias, Phegley, Viciedo, Beckham, Semien and the rotation keeps pitching well I would be happy. An ideal situation would be us going into the 8th inning leading 5-1 with the aforementioned players making a great contribution (hitters hitting and starter getting a QS) and Axelrod/Troncoso/Veal come in and blow the game then so be it, that would be great. I just don't have it in me to cheer for Weiters against Reed. When Gillaspie went yard I yelled out "Yes!" and when De Aza made a terrible play in LF I yelled out "damnit!" I understand why losing could be a good thing and I don't want us to win out but playing around .500 with our young players succeeding is worth picking 4-6 instead of 3. The draft is a crap shoot. I am mostly rooting for the teams in the 3-7 spots to keep winning and our young players to see success in their respective roles. Yes, exactly. I don't get pissed off when Chris Sale rips off a complete game shutout and we win. I'd rather Sale dominate and the Sox win than Sale do awful and the Sox lose. But instead, I root for both Sale to dominate, and someone else to ruin it for it. Hopefully that's not Reed, but if that's what has to happen, then so be it.
  2. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Sep 7, 2013 -> 05:09 PM) It's just annoying on a White Sox fan site full of White Sox fans we have a handful of posters cheering for our closer after he blew a save and cheering for the opposing team's players. It's also annoying that on a White Sox fan site full of White Sox fans that we have a handful of posters cheering on meaningless wins that hurts our draft position, slot money, international money, and ability to rebuild our terrible farm system. I'm rooting for the big picture, not the temporary satisfaction.
  3. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Sep 7, 2013 -> 04:59 PM) That's not what I am advocating. I want us to play the best we possibly can while retaining a top 5 pick. You don't see me cheering on the Orioles because I am a Sox fan. Your caveat of "retaining a top 5 pick" is kind of implying you are hoping they do well, but not TOO well. Then what's the point? No one is rooting for 10 errors a game and all the hitters striking out. I'm just rooting that the players play well, but someone takes a fall each game to lose it for us. Unfortunately that person had to be Addison Reed today, and that's unfortunate because I really like Reed and would typically want him to succeed. But if that was almost any other reliever on this team, today would have been a perfect ending.
  4. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Sep 7, 2013 -> 04:54 PM) Seriously? Root for your team and if they lose well, it doesn't really matter and were moving towards a better draft pick. These jeers aren't even funny anyways. I'm rooting for my team to win in future by rooting for them to lose now. Seriously, there is a thread like 40 pages long if you really want to throw your hat in the "I AM ROOTING FOR MEDIOCRITY" ring.
  5. QUOTE (TRU @ Sep 7, 2013 -> 03:40 PM) Ide rank it Bradshaw, Tate, Austin. But that all depends on is it PPR? Do you get return points? If tomorrow morning Bradshaw is going to play, I play him. If hes not going to play, ide prolly prefer Tate over Austin. We do not get PPR, but we do get points for a KO and PR TD.
  6. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 7, 2013 -> 01:57 PM) Ball State giving it to Army 27-7 at halftime. 37-7 now, and only a few minutes in to the 3rd quarter.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 7, 2013 -> 11:51 AM) Do I play Tavon Austin at flex in week 1 or wait and see with him? I am having the same debate. Should my flex be Tavon Austin, Ahmad Bradshaw, or Golden Tate. Right now I have Bradshaw in there.
  8. Oh my god, I don't know if it was the cheap rum or what, but I am pretty much still drunk from last night. Everyone is attempting to go to tailgaiting right now, and I am just thinking about what I should eat to stay alive, and then probably going to sleep again. Fuuuuuuck.
  9. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 04:29 PM) I haven't watched it either, let me know what you think. I think the TV market is over-saturated with cop shows/dramas. I'm sorta glad two of favorite shows are coming to an end this season. BB and Burn Notice. imbd users gave it 7.3/10 scale I tried watching the 1st episode, but I couldn't finish it. The show seems to take itself way too seriously. Everything was heavy drama with a big emphasis on "gritty cops". It was annoying.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 05:04 PM) I watched the roast of James Franco. Not bad. Those roasts are brutal in terms of insults. Hearing so many guys calling Sara Silverman old was pretty damn funny. And the jokes regarding the comic from India were pretty damn funny as well. Also Jonas Hill blasting Bill Hader for leaving SNL was also funny. You've never heard of Aziz Ansari? And he's from South Carolina.
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 03:03 PM) If you are the one trading Rodgers, Im just not sure thats a good idea in general unless you are getting a definitive upgrade. IE Stevie Johnson to Dez Bryant But Murray could quite possibly out perform Mojo. I only included the Murray for MJD part a the end because I don't want to end up with 4 Cowboys players, that seems like a bad idea (Romo, Bryant, Witten, Murray).
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 02:48 PM) No Avi, no Semien...no care. I can't believe they're giving Keppinger more at bats against RHP than seeing what Semien can do. 1. Alejandro De Aza (L) CF 2. Gordon Beckham ® 2B 3. Jeff Keppinger ® 3B 4. Adam Dunn (L) DH 5. Paul Konerko ® 1B 6. Jordan Danks (L) RF 7. Dayan Viciedo ® LF 8. Josh Phegley ® C 9. Leury Garcia (S) SS Yep, with no Avi, Semien, Sale in there, I will definitely be skipping this one.
  13. Ok, here is another trade I am mulling over...... Aaron Rodgers, Steve Johnson, and DeMarco Murray for Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, Maurice Jones-Drew
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 01:46 AM) If we get a top flight RHP prospect and the organization thinks he can be developed, I'll take it. I suppose if it means we can then have the flexibility to trade our pitching strengths for hitting prospects, then yeah. Obviously I'd take Rodon if he slips to #3, or if we get that #2 and the Astros take Beede or someone else.
  15. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 12:41 AM) The two guys I'm gonna keep a close eye on are Gatewood and Alex Jackson. If Jackson keeps improving I'd have a hard time passing on him with the 3rd pick... Gatewood is the name I keep paying attention to. Obviously Beede is going to be a very high pick too, but I really hope we go position player with our first 2-3 picks. We seem to be stocking pitchers.
  16. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 01:10 AM) Trading for big names is tough. See if you can get someone like LeVeon Bell, most people think hes gonna be out for a while but hes probably gonna play week 2. As far as WRs go. You could snag Harvin and hope he plays in week 7 like he claims. Bell is owned, but Harvin is a FA. However, I need the help now, not in Week 7. Man, my Soxtalk team is so much better than this other league, which sucks because I don't really care about my Soxtalk team.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 12:57 AM) Kinda funny, considering all these "draftniks" have said that the Sox aren't out next year if that's the case. Rough start, but not out. And why does everyone think the draft pick will take years? Sale anyone? Sale is not a good example though. Very, VERY rarely are drafted player dominating pro ball a couple months later. Not many are dominating pro ball a couple YEARS later. All pointing to Sale will do is create unrealistic expectations for people to complain about when our top 5 pick next June is not in the pros within 12 months.
  18. Ok, what about this trade..... Aaron Rodgers and DeMarco Murray for Russell Wilson and Jamaal Charles. Or maybe.... Aaron Rodgers and Golden Tate for Russell Wilson and Vincent Jackson
  19. Welp, he rejected my offer of Rodgers/Murray for Peterson/Kaepernick. So then I offered him a trade to just completely take advantage of his Bears fandom. Rodgers/Ridley/Bears D for Peterson/Kaepernick/Seattle D. I really need to find a way to improve my team. My WRs suck, but I am thinking getting AP would help out a whole lot too.
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 12:18 AM) Catch some passes Decker! I usually end up taking Decker on my fantasy teams. This year, with Wes Welker on that team, there was no chance I was going anywhere near Decker.
  21. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 5, 2013 -> 08:16 PM) The farm system sucks at developing position players. So whoever they get, they won't be able to run the bases and situational hitting will go out the window once they make it to the Cell. A high draft pick is not going to save this organization. They produce some decent pitching though. Neither will finishing the season 15-10 or whatever you people are hoping for.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2013 -> 11:46 PM) He's still a first-round pick. If he flops, somebody should be blamed. No they shouldn't. He was on track and looking great, and then a horrific ankle injury derailed him. Mitchell being a bust is thanks to fate.
