  1. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 6, 2012 -> 03:07 AM) C'mon now, advertising new headphones as some sort of amazing new phone feature is WAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more gimmicky than NFC...
  2. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 02:22 PM) Uhhh maybe because minus wins he was a top 25 pitcher in baseball??? That might make him pretty sought after right?? 17th ranked in yahoo fantasy baseball. (I know that means squat but ya, that happened) 16th highest fWAR (Sale had 8th best)
  3. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) That looks like one of those stupid "Valentines Day" movies where there is a huge cast and its random romantic nonsense. Except this time its just random off color humor. We shall see if it some how works together. This isn't even the full cast, but check this list out..... Elizabeth Banks Hugh Jackman Emma Stone Naomi Watts Gerard Butler Kristen Bell Anna Faris Kate Winslet Richard Gere Uma Thurman Seann William Scott Chris Pratt Justin Long Halle Berry Christopher Mintz-Plasse Josh Duhamel Liev Schreiber Kate Bosworth Jason Sudeikis Johnny Knoxville Tony Shalhoub Jack McBrayer Terrance Howard Woah.
  4. My Dbacks buddy texted me a couple hours ago and said he heard that Stone is likely to join the Arizona booth. Not sure where he heard it though.
  5. A few of us had been clammoring for Dan Johnson to get some starts the last 10 games or so when the team was sucking offensively, and no changes were made. Cool. Glad to see how that panned out.
  6. QUOTE (daggins @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 10:47 PM) In any draft there is only a marginal difference between the talent available at 16 and that available at 18. Next years draft is supposed to be pretty weak FWIW. You know what you have at 16 that you don't have at 18? 2 more options. BOOM. KNOWLEDGE BOMB.
  7. Welp, Sox went and f'd it up by winning 2 of 3 meaningless games. 18th spot it is.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 07:57 AM) Dodgers lost. Floyd starting. If the Brewers win and the Sox lose today, the Sox draft at 16. If not, 17 is locked in. Hey look, a middle of the pack team. How do you figure? I'm pretty certain we have the 18th spot right now.
  9. Sox lost, and Dodgers won, so we secure the 18th spot at the very least. Now the last thing is for Milwaukee to win tomorrow, and Chris Sale and the Sox to lose tomorrow. We'd lock in to 17th spot if that happens.
  10. Spots 17-19 are still within range for the Sox. 17 - Milwaukee - 82 wins (2 games left) (Sox win tiebreaker) 18 - White Sox - 84 wins (2 games left) 19 - Dodgers - 85 wins (2 games left) (Sox win tiebreaker) All we can root for now is 2 more Sox loses, and 2 more Milwaukee wins, or 1 more Dodger win.
  11. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 08:16 PM) Fox and TBS renewed their TV deals with MLB. About $50M per team per season when you add the ESPN deal. Counting their local tv deals, the Sox will be banking about $100M a year from TV starting in 2014. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-10-02/m...-tv-rights.html What have we made previous years? Is $100M good or bad?
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 08:09 PM) I'd say 35 and 120. 25 more games + hitting in a power spot. I think he'd muster more than 5 home runs.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 04:43 PM) I'd go with Trout. How many more RBIs would he have if he batted 3rd? Another 12 to 17? If Trout was batting 3rd and started the season when everyone else did, he'd have at least 110 RBI and around 40 HR.
  14. Seek a replacement. Don't dump him or give him away, but don't let him get in the way of an upgrade.
  15. Even though I typically abide by the playoff rule when it comes to MVP, the Angels were certainly contenders, and actually will win more games this year than the Tigers. Also, Trout is having a historic season that has never been done before, he MISSED an entire month of games in the minors, and he turned the Angels around. Angels were 7-14 before Trout arrived. With Trout, they went 82-57.
  16. QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 05:56 PM) Don't follow the farm system much, but wow Nestor Molina looks like he had a dreadful year. Dreadful only compared to 2012. Looks like 2011 was definitely a fluke. His 2012 was not terrible, as his BB rate, HR rate, and K/BB ratio were very solid, but he was allowing more hits than normal, while striking out less than he normally did.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 06:08 PM) At least there is one less defensive stud coming at him with Anthony Spencer out Spencer is out? Shiiiiiiiiit.
  18. I'm looking for DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer to get about 6 sacks tonight. I'm only kind of joking.
  19. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) She was the nanny after Lucy took off. They fled to Chicago together after it was found out that he killed Sesbo. I remember a nanny, but I guess I thought she was an old lady. I guess there were too many storylines for me to remember them all.
  20. I'd actually bump Rienzo up a few notches to #2. Walks was the only part of his game that wasn't outstanding last year. 6.8 H/9 is awesome, 0.2 HR/9 is unbelievable, 9.8 K/9 is fantastic, 2.53 ERA, only hit 1 batter, and carried a 1.16 WHIP. I realize he is already 24, but his breakout 2012 season makes him the first option out of the minors leagues next season in my opinion (although I'm sure Castro would get the 1st chance).
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 01:18 PM) Right. I didn't say fat, did I? Wasn't what I intended. Just said weight. I know, that's why I said I was clarifying, not correcting. When I hear a player put on a bunch of weight, I tend to assume that means fat, just like when someone LOSES a bunch of weight, you assume they lost fat, not muscle mass. Just clarifying for those who don't know Beck's backstory.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 12:00 PM) You have to forget stats with Beck. All we really wanted to see from him this year was pitching healthy for a few games. Beck was a guy who was considered probable high first round talent, but then this past year he gained a bunch of weight and his college numbers (and peripherals) went south. That's why the Sox were able to pick him up when they did. There is still a ton of potential there. Keep in mind too, Pioneer League stats should be taken with a grain of salt - especially core numbers like ERA, and hits allowed. Defenses are weak and it is a big hitters' league. Only a few qualifying SP's had ERA's below 4 in the entire league. To clarify, I am pretty sure he gained a lot of MUSCLE weight, not fat. IIRC, he was told to bulk up, but that added mass ended up hurting him. This offseason he is expected to work back to where he used to be, physically.
