3 HR in 3 innings for the Sox. Finally swinging big bats.
-
Rios hits a popfly that carries like 100 feet and is a Home run! 2nd HR for Rios on the spring.
-
Solid single to RF by Becks.

QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) That lineup lists two RFers. I wonder if Gartrell is in left? I'm sure.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 07:56 AM) You mean like this? And it is a little bit nerdy, but so is playing video games. You get used to the headset real quick, and is really not a problem at all. I only wear it if there is a friend online, which is almost always, since game chats usually suck, but party chats are one of the highlights of playing online, totally different experience being able to coordinate with only your friends while in a game. Oh, I didn't know they started making smaller ones. My friend lied to me.

Sweet. I'm glad Viciedo is in RF for the game we can see.

About to watch a re-run of Breakout Kings, which aired tonight. It's from the writers of Prison Break, which is one of my alltime favorite shows, and probably the best character on the show, T-Bag, is a spin-off character in Breakout Kings. The reviews on the pilot episode have been really good, so I'm stoked.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 12:39 AM) '05 might have this year slightly beat, but who knows I am pretty sure he means like, this is the biggest year, like, pre-year. There is more pressure to succeed this year than any other year during their tenure. Going in to 2005, there was not this kind of pressure. This actually reminds me a lot of the Blackhawks going in to last season. They knew they were going to have a massive payroll and figured they would have to blow up the team at the end of the year, so it was All or Nothing. Luckily, they achieved the ALL.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) You learn to love it honestly, I feel like Im playing a game naked if I can't find my headset. It's like leaving your house without a cellphone nowadays, yo ucan get by fine without it, but it just isn't the same and something always feels off. I would feel SOOOO nerdy wearing a headset. Thank god the PS3 allows me to wear a tiny little bluetooth headset, but even I never use it, and haven't it probably over a year. Party Chat might change that though.

Lindsay looked pretty good. If I remember correctly, he is that Australian FA we signed.

Melton just went on for 3-4 minutes about this mysterious guy who just hit a HR and they can't figure out who he is. Melton thinks he is the bus driver, or an alien from Mars, but then seriously thought he was a friend of the hitting coach that they just let hit. The "mysterious" player is an 11-year veteran who has been a starting 3B since about 2004, and won the World Series with the Phillies in 2008. This mystery man is Pedro Feliz. How the hell can Bill Melton and Trey Bender seriously spend 5 minutes talking about this mysterious player that they can not find any info on, have never heard of, and think he seriously might just be some friend they are giving a chance to hit?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) That's actually the plural form of Moustakas, meaning that there are more than 1 of them. That does not bode well for the White Sox in the long-term. Wouldn't be it be Moustaki then? Because he said Mousaki, like Moo-Sock-ee, like the dairy version of the japanese drink.

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 02:58 PM) only two more days till baseball heaven for the PS3 arrives! cant wait to take the brewers to the promised land. Yeah, I got to go reserve my copy tomorrow!

Mike Moustakas is now.... Mike Mousaki -- Bill Melton

QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) 8 pitches, 8 Ks and... by Ks... I mean strikes. Seriously? Or are you just going by Gameday, which is not correct?

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) I'll optimisticaly take this to mean that he can still fill the fifth starter spot beginning April 10th, but will be at less than 100% until May 1. Depending on his velocity, Jake at 90% may still be better than anybody else in that spot. I'd rather just see Humber out there for 2-3 starts and hope he just keeps us in the game before we force Peavy to come back at 80-90% and risk ANOTHER injury. In the scheme of things, 3 of 34 starts or so is not a big deal at all.
-
Jon Heyman Jake peavy, who pitches vs angels today, telling friends he's shooting for may 1 to pitch for real. #chisox Time for the Phil Humber era to begin!
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) Scheduled to pitch: Peavy, Leesman, Humber, Santos, Sale, Crain, Kinney Damn, I'd really like to watch this game!

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 03:03 AM) Translation for those needing it: Oh, I may be drunk right now, but that is a horrid excuse. If you are going to argue that Sale needs to be on the 2011 White Sox because it makes them better, then Viciedo needs to be on the team because it makes them better. So, Viciedo's development is worth sending him to AAA, but not Sale? Just a cop out. Either you are "All In" or you are not. Can't have your cake and eat it to. Suck it, sober people. yesss. +1 also. o found mympiphone. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 3, 2011 -> 09:17 PM) But by how much? And at what cost? In the perfect world, Viciedo is probably worth 1-1.5 WAR to the club through adequate defense and a good bat, but with limited plate appearances. In the same perfect world, Chris Sale is worth 1.5-2 WAR and contributes a ton towards WPA. Meanwhile, the replacement for Viciedo can still add 0.5-1.5 WAR off the bench, perhaps through defense or equal offensive output, while the replacement for Chris Sale is worth 0-0.5 WAR (because who in the organization can even compare to Sale?) The different in the replacement value results in it making a ton of sense for Chris Sale to be in the bullpen while Viciedo refines his game in the minors while remaining the first called up if one of the big boys goes down for an extended period of time. I know you won't agree nor take this into consideration, but it's worth mentioning anyways. o miay be drunk right now, but that's just bulls*** excuse. If you re going to argue that dale needs to be on the 2011 white soc because it makes them better, hten viciedo needs to be on te team because it makes them better. Sp vicidos develipment is worth sending him to AAA, but not sale? Just a cop out. either you are "all in" or you are not. can't have your cake and eat it otll. suck it, sobers. -
Chris Sale in the bullpen.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 3, 2011 -> 07:50 PM) Glad you were able to bring this up again. I think you realize how absurd the comparison is. Chris Sale is ready to contribute a significant amount to the major league club. Dayan Viciedo is not. Viciedo is also much more unrefined compared to Sale, and thus letting him play full time will be much better for him than coming off the bench. Disagree. Viciedo makes this 2011 team better, therefor, we should mortgage the future. -

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Mar 3, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) Dude needs plenty of reps defensively and offensively. No need to waste away on the bench like he did last season upon his callup. He will be in AAA. Bet on it. But, but, but, but, we are ALL IN! That means we need to forget about player development and what will benefit the team the most in the long term and worry about 2011. Put Viciedo on this team and let him get 8 at-bats a week. The 2011 team will be better for it. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 3, 2011 -> 07:18 PM) This will certainly be interesting. I wonder how much velocity he has on the FB right now. The plan is for him to throw primarily fastballs, or so I heard.
