  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 04:16 AM) Might as well include the entire AAA rotation if you're going to include Humber. Something tells me that Humber will be better than any AAA starter we have right now. No one else posted a 4 K/BB last year. Not saying Humber is anything special, but I'd certainly give him just as much of a chance as Harrel, Marquez, or Hynick.
  2. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) what do we have?? Pena and Harrell??? maybe Peavy is gonna be ready to go?? Humber.
  3. Sooo....if Viciedo can at least manage to be acceptable in the OF, he is essentially a younger, better , cheaper version of Mark Teahen. We should just trade him for a bucket of balls so we can get Viciedo on this team as soon as possible.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 10:07 AM) According to Scott Gregor, Daily Herald White Sox beat writer, his inside sources say Chris Sale is a lock to be the White Sox closer in 2011. Son of a b****.
  5. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 02:53 PM) Way to be an ass. lol.
  6. Just thought I'd re-post my very drunken mass text that I sent out last night, since it has to do with baseball..... "Minnesora gwins are like yhe kids tgar eat crayons thei whole life and tgen get in to harvard"
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 03:42 AM) What are you talking about? I said that Rivera could outproduce Wells at about 95% less cost, and they gave up Napoli too. That would pretty clearly indicate that I think it's both a baseball and financially terrible move. But the way you worded it made it seem like it was a bad move because of the contracts involved. I still don't think Wells for Napoli/Rivera is a terrible move at all, the money makes it bad. Werth to the Nats obviously isn't a bad move, but the money makes it bad.
  8. For as bad as Well's contract looks, the Jays actually traded him at the perfect time. Over the course of his contract so far, he has well outperformed it. For the past couple years it has been talked about as one of the worst contracts in baseball history, but it really isn't a bad contract until 2011. Most people probably didn't realize that Wells contract gave him $0.5M in 2008, $1.5M in 2009, and $12.5M in 2010. He was worth $22.6M over replacement value during those 3 years, while being paid just $14.5M. The Jays dumped him before he ever got a chance to cost them any money, and before his contract jumped into astronomic heights ($86M over the next 4 years).
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 03:32 AM) The Jayson Werth move atleast makes sense from a baseball standpoint, though it was financially f'ed up. This makes no sense at all. Juan Rivera himself could outproduce Vernon Wells, and he is due like 95% less money, and on top of that, the Angels gave up Napoli too. I imagine this is the kind of move that has blindsided quite a few GMs and probably Ken Williams too, because Quentin for Napoli would have made a ton of sense in early December. Ok, but you can't say that Werth's signing was good from baseball standpoint, but not financially, and then immediately talk about the financial standpoint of the Well's trade. Wells for Napoli and Rivera isn't really that bad of a move, but it's financially f'ed up, just like the Werth deal is also financially f'ed up.
  10. I'd give him 2 yrs/$16M. I doubt he really is playing for the money anyway.
  11. Saw that. Ugh, I was looking forward to some change, even if I love Ozzie.
  12. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 12:13 AM) Well... f*** me then. Were you the one who said there was no chance he would ever move, and he is a 1B no matter what? I was trying to remember.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 11:35 PM) Well the crazy part is that Toronto got better in this deal. Haven't looked, but I doubt that Rivera is good defensively, and Snider is probably average, but Davis is fast enough that he should be above average in CF. Rivera is a league average, perhaps a little above league average LF offensively, but the real win is Napoli because even considering that John Buck had a good year offensively last year, Napoli is even better offensively, and Arencibia is a pretty damn good prospect too. Every offseason, there always seems to be a move that makes you say "whaaa?" This is that trade. So far, this offseason has started and ended with "WTF" moves. First Jayson Werth's insane contract, then this trade.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 12:01 AM) Didn't Manny wait like 20 games to record his first RBI as a Sox? And this is a great signing? He stunk in a Sox uniform. And don't make excuses for Manny anybody, please? Manny, the ass that he's been, doesn't need anybody making excuses for him. He stunk as a Sox. I think all of us here know your opinion of "the bum" or whatever you called him relentlessly.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 11:39 PM) Seems to me if you antagonize one of our favorite Tweeters, he may stop Tweeting. I do not like that. No, lots of people talk s*** to him, and he usually replies, which is what I was counting on.
  16. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnerId=rss_cws BOOM.
  17. Sorry, I know Teahen is a nice guy, but I couldn't help myself.... ESPY_TEAHEN By the way Chicago #WhiteSox fans, I'm All In! Are you?!?!? #Allin #Ifyourenotallinyourenotinatall Me: @ESPY_TEAHEN Funny that our biggest contractual gamble would advocate a poker term such as "all in". Seriously though, good luck next year.
  18. Tony Reagins should be put in witness protection.
  19. What a great signing. He put up a 1.6 WAR and only played half a season.
  20. That is an absolutely TON of money saved.
  21. QUOTE (R.J. @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 06:54 PM) The info actually came from Jon Heyman of SI.com. Don't get the MLBTR bashing. It was garbage a long while back, but since making some changes a few years ago has been one of the most valuable resources on the web for compiling and analyzing anything related to roster moves in a fast and comprehensive manner. I was kidding, I love MLBTR. It's my 7th most visited site ever according to Chrome.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) Wait, what? Are you drunk? PLEASEEEEEEE tell me you're drunk. Then I can let go of this. If you're really being serious then suicide is my only alternative [and when I say that I mean for me, not you]. I just can't accept this. You did not just compare Edwin Jackson to the likes of Lester, Johnson, Wainwright, Haren, Greinke and Ubaldo. You just didn't. Or at least you didn't mean to. Jackson is underrated, but not on the level of those guys yet.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 03:37 PM) Doubt it. The A's are not exactly lacking in the SP department. Just more B.S. from that pathetic site. That site sucks worse than any prospect to ever enter the Sox farm system!
  24. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) OzzieGuillen.com is now officially open for business. Another blurb from Padilla: ESPNChiSox Doug Padilla Got the word that Beckham looks outstanding in the cage. Way ahead of where he was last year. Probably just fluff, but in the off-chance it's not, I'm happy either way.
  25. No thanks. Big contract, big douchebag. I'll pass.
