  1. Blue Jays High-A ball team, the Dunedin Blue Jays, are being no-hit through 13 innings right now.....0-0 in the 13th inning. LOL.
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) I guess I would prefer none of the Sox players "break down". If the Sox have 5 great starters next year Sale could really help the pen. Otherwise expect sale to be in the minors. I would say there is about a 10% chance Sale is in our bullpen next year. It would be a real waste to not stretch him out for a future starting job.
  3. Charles Leesman continues to be one of the weirdest pitchers in our system. He pitched in High-A earlier in the year, pitched AWFUL. I am talking an ERA over 5, a WHIP of almost 1.50, and more walks than K's (44 BB to 39 K). Somehow he gets a promotion to AA Birmingham, and he has dominated. Makes no sense, but I have heard that our AA pitching coach is very good and there is thoughts we promoted him simple to see if our AA can fix him. Apparently, he did.... 58 IP, 42 H, 1 HR, 19 BB, 45 K. 2.81 ERA. He has cut his ERA by about 40%, his H/9 about 25%, his HRs by like 60%, his BB/9 by about 40%, and increased his K/9 by about 50%. Pretty cool, and at 23 years old in AA, he is right where he should be.
  4. LOL, Manny is flying his barber out to Boston to cut his hair before the game on Friday.... http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=5521211
  5. QUOTE (IChaseBlackWood @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 06:36 PM) HOME RUN FOR BLACKWOOD!!!! God I love your new username, that is GOLD!
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) So you keep him out of sentimental value? I trade Buehrle LONG before I trade Danks, simply because Danks is a much better value even at 7M than Buehrle is at 14M. He's my favorite Sox player and I would be sad to see him go, but understand. Do you think Buehrle is worth twice the money of John Danks? .... QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) I heard Danks may make as much as around $7-8M in ARB. I think he is the best option to trade, mainly because he will get more value than Buehrle, and Buehrle is such an icon for this team that it would piss a LOT of people off.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 06:55 PM) And thats not because of Danks and Floyd, keep that in mind. Its how top heavy the rotation is on price. Ideally, you deal Buehrle because you cant move Peavy. Floyd makes I believe 3.5, Danks should get 5+ and Jackson is at 8. I heard Danks may make as much as around $7-8M in ARB. I think he is the best option to trade, mainly because he will get more value than Buehrle, and Buehrle is such an icon for this team that it would piss a LOT of people off.
  8. QUOTE (BearingPro @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 06:53 PM) Why??? I would think he would start in AA. Better competition there.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) Freddy's probably gone and Sale will probably start in AAA. Well obviously if we don't trade a starter, but I would not be opposed to it. We have one of the most expensive rotations in baseball with Peavy, Buehrle, Jackson, Danks, and Floyd. I wouldn't mind trading either Danks or Floyd to relieve some money and sliding Sale into the rotation, or Freddy on the cheap while Sale stretched out in AA.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 05:52 PM) Trading Danks would be dumb as f***, especially since we have control over him cheaply for another 2 years. I repeat, dumb as f***. He is going to be expensive through arbitration, and we have potentially 7 starters next year (if you include Freddy).
  11. Fun little fact.... Chris Sale is only the 4th pitcher in major league history to record a save in the same year he was drafted.
  12. QUOTE (michelangelosmonkey @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) Where is the link to his torn labrum...I googled it and it only refers to Soxtalk and forums that got it from Sox talk. Seems as if Soxtalk got it from his face book page? Yes, I think I broke the new *swish* after I talked to him for a little bit. lol.
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) At this point, I'm offering Paulie this: Year 1: $12M Year 2: $10M Year 3: $9M/Team Option Year 4: $8M/Player Option He's just so good when healthy and if Dayan takes over at 1B next year, Paulie will be able to DH and stay even healthier. 4 year deal? Yikes. I would offer 2 years/21M, but someone like the Red Sox will offer him 3 years/38M, and I bet he would take that.
  14. Yeah, I really think Kenny is going to be shopping Danks all off-season, and hopefully for a legit OF.
  15. QUOTE (thedoctor @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) sale's been great. is the assumption that he'll start back in the minors next year at say, AA, to transition back into a starting role? I would assume he would get stretched out in ST, and then start the year in AA starting until a starter goes down.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:26 PM) The amazing thing about Pauly's season is that Hamilton has Vlad protecting him. Pauly has had Kotsay protecting him for a good chunk of the season. Which is why maybe Manny batting 5th will be extremely productive for Paulie. I think he has a shot to eclipse 40 HR, 125 RBI marks.
  17. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) I'm tired of the Sox running themselves out of innings too. And I'm getting sooooooo tired of Carlos Quentin. I didn't have a chance to post after last night's game, but even though Q's two misplays didn't directly lead to any runs, how many extra stressful pitches did they cause Edwin to throw? Maybe Edwin throws a complete game if not for the extra outs and we save Jenks and help our bullpen. Could be very true. I didn't see how many extra pitches that caused Edwin, but maybe he finished a CG, 1 run performance.
  18. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) Oh I don't know about that. It brings back memories when the organization thought Fields could play 3rd base. It goes to show when Kenny acquires a player, defense is the least of priorities. Yep. Andruw Jones, Omar Vizquel, Alex Rios, ect.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) Great post. Danman with the call before it happened. I love those in the threads the last two nights who have given Paulie and AJ their props for actually being the ones, to you know, hit it out of the park. Great win, kudos to Paulie, Sale, Rios, etc. I'm not going to go overboard and credit Manny for Paulie's and AJ's homers. A lot of people thought AJ would hit into a DP and Paulie is simply an MVP candidate, baby! Go Soxxxx!! Keep winnin. That's because Manny is a bum.
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 01:30 PM) very excited to see Mitchell plans on being ready to play, sucks he lost a vast majority of this year, but hopefully he can get some decent work in and be ready in ST God it would be great if he tore up the AFL like Morel did last year, and then started off '11 in AA.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:43 PM) BA's "hunnies" have already petitioned for an image on the CF wall immortalizing his catch to end Game 163. You mean....this game?.... When some guy hit this ball on to the Fan Deck?..... And then BA made that awesome catch which resulted in this?..... :headbang
  22. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) I've looked at the stats and I know Paulie won't get MVP. I just have a hard time imagining Josh Hamilton having as many clutch hits or carrying the team the way Konerko does. I feel like he is numbers without substance. Cabrera on the other hand I can see. Well, I do agree that Hamilton has a better cast around around him offensively. Vlad Guerrero is having a monster season (.300 AVG, 25 HR, 100 RBI already), and it doesn't hurt to have one of the best 2B in baseball on your team either. Paulie has been more valuable to us, sure, but I don't think the voters will weigh that as much as we would like. If anything, Paulie's valuableness to this team is washed out by Hamilton's "rags to riches" story.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:23 PM) Here's the list of guys currently on statues: Frank Thomas will have his there next year. Paul Konerko has been on this team for 11+ years now. He keyed a world series run and was the ALCS MVP that year, He's basically 2nd on the White Sox career offensive production list right now (HR, RBI) behind the Hurt, he produced more than several of the guys with statues already. His statue is assured. I didn't say I agreed with our current set of statues either. I just think Paulie is really on the fence IMO.
  24. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:23 PM) I don't watch the Rangers and I know the numbers, but I still have a hard time believing that Josh Hamilton is really having a better year than Konerko. Konerko has been everything for this team. Look at the numbers, Hamilton's are pretty gaudy, and Hamilton plays on a first place team. The ONLY shot Paulie has is if Hamilton slumps his AVG down around .330, and the Sox win the division. Those two happening are pretty unlikely.
  25. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 02:19 PM) Are we talking about the same guy? Do you disagree with my point?
