QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 10, 2010 -> 10:20 PM) Good call on Buy.com Will save me $20, but not sure when I will receive it. Hopefully I can just play it at my friends house for a few days before I get it in the mail. Screw it. Shipping is only free on 7-9 day shipping. I don't want to wait 9 days and not get the special clothes to save $17. I mean, if this was not a game where I wanted to form an online posse with friends, I would wait the 7-9 days, but I don't want to be left out while my friends for a posse and have a full week of playing before me. Impatient, sure, but oh well.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 10, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) buy.com has Red Dead Redemption available for pre-order at $46 with free shipping. If you buy a lot of s*** off Amazon the $60 + $20 Amazon gift card and free shipping is still probably the better deal if not Buy.com looks like the winner. Good call on Buy.com Will save me $20, but not sure when I will receive it. Hopefully I can just play it at my friends house for a few days before I get it in the mail.

Gordon Beckham: What To Do?
I would rather Beckham be sent down in the lineup, not sent down to AAA. I don't think it will help him w/ the breaking ball if he goes to AAA and faces mediocre ones. The only thing I can see a AAA stint doing is boosting his confidence by crushing bad pitching, then again, it may rattle his confidence by losing his job. So, I'd rather he just start hitting out of the 7th or 8th spot.

QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 7, 2010 -> 10:13 PM) Nice f***ing pitch, Putz. Yeah, don't bother using Santos Ozzie, not like he can get guys out or anything. Putz has been great this year. You can't criticize Ozzie for every call he makes. Had Putz had a 1-2-3 inning you would have thought Ozzie was a genius.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 7, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) Thornton can't close until you get another guy can do his job as well as he does on this ballclub. If you just mean a reliever, I trust Santos/Putz. If you mean a lefty....then no, we don't have a replacement. But either way... Closer>Set-up man

Soxtalk's Biggest Loser Club
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) Bah, I don't feel like it is, especially if you weigh yourself at a different time each day (i.e. before or after a meal, before or after a bathroom break), or while wearing different clothes. I talked to my brother who frequents the gym (he is basically the opposite of me, body size wise) and he weighed himself at the gym, and then at home and they gave him the same reading, so I think I can trust the one at home, and if I can, that means I am actually down 12 pounds this month, which is awesome.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 7, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) Yep, and that's why Comcast is the worst cable provider in the nation. I used to get CLTV, but I don't anymore. But guess what? My prices never dropped! Getting less, paying the same... the American way! Yep. I get back from school last night, and my first day of summer actually being able to watch Sox games, and it's on CLTV. Ugh. At least I was only planning on watching the first 1 1/2 HRs anyway since the Hawks are on at 8:30.

Soxtalk's Biggest Loser Club
Just weighed myself on the scale at home (since I am back from school), and it says I am 260.5. I would really like to believe it, but I am not sure. My brother assures me it should be accurate since it was expensive, but I don't want to get too optimistic. The one at the gym is the one I have been using, but 80% of the time the scale was not balanced properly, so even when it was balanced, maybe it was still off? A 4 pound difference is pretty big......

Paul Konerko AL player of week

QUOTE (Brian @ May 4, 2010 -> 08:29 PM) I know nothing about pitching, but Hochevar's pitching mechanics look odd. Like he could blow out his arm at any second. According to Gameday, he can throw his fastball, cutter, and sinker all at 93+ MPH. That seems a bit excessive on his arm.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 4, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) Getz was a below-average 2b last year. I don't know if the numbers have shifted, and if he's improved, but he was very poor last year. Especially compared to Jayson Nix. He was average last year, or slightly below. He was not "very poor". And Jayson Nix was actually a pretty good defender at 2B.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 4, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) Because UZR is a flawless measuring stick. Just look at Jason Bay! He's had a small sample size and he was poor last year. Again, like I just said to someone else, whether it's a small sample size or not you can't say "He is hitting .190 with his usual sloppy D" if he is actually playing very good defense. If you are going to make a point using one sample size (batting avg), then you have to accept both sample sizes (his defense).

QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ May 4, 2010 -> 08:09 PM) Small sample size. 1 month of UZR is like 10 days of hitting statistics. Well either way, saying he has his "usual sloppy D" in a season in which he has been great makes no sense, regardless of sample size.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 4, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) Just wanted to point out that Getz is hitting .190 while playing his usual sloppy D without a trace of power. Usual sloppy D? You mean his 18.3 UZR150 this season, which makes him the 2nd best 2B in the AL right now (behind Beckham)?? While Teahen has an AMAZING -37.6 UZR/15 right now, which puts him as the 2nd worst in the majors?

What did Konerko do? Gameday makes me think he snagged a ball, touched 1B, and threw it home and AJ made the tag?

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 4, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) Based on what, 22 games at AA. Lets let Morel mature a bit before we promote him. I am praying Morel makes it to AAA before season's end. I can't stand Teahen.
