  1. Not bad for Cleveland... http://www.accuweather.com/us/oh/cleveland...?mnyr=4-01-2011 Even better for Chicago on April 7... http://www.accuweather.com/us/il/chicago/6...?mnyr=4-01-2011 Still early to know about rain, but at least the temps are trending up.
  2. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 02:33 AM) When is the last time Ozzie took 11 pitchers to start the season? Not gonna happen, IMHO. I don't think it would be a season-long thing, but just to start the season, they could get away with it. But they would need to push Humber's first start back to April 9th. He would be the 7th pitcher in the bullpen in Cleveland. Buehrle 4-1, 4-6, 4-11, 4-16, 4-21, 4-26 Jackson 4-2, 4-7, 4-12, 4-17, 4-22, 4-27 Danks 4-3, 4-8, 4-13, 4-18, 4-23, 4-28 Floyd 4-5, 4-10, 4-15, 4-20, 4-25, 4-30 Humber 4-9, 4-19 Hopefully Peavy comes back on the 24th, and then also starts on the 29th.
  3. http://twitter.com/MDGonzales/status/51784155427639297 When Marquez was getting torched, I was thinking about this. Might as well see how long they can go without 7 in the pen. Marquez is just a run-of-the-mill arm. If they have to risk losing him by putting him through waivers, so be it.
  4. Jeff Marquez starts. Pierre LF, Beckham 2B, Rios CF, Konerko 1B, Quentin DH, Teahen 3B, Castro C, Milledge RF, Vizquel SS
  5. Morel at .317. Rookie of the Year candidate? Are there any good AL rookies this year?
  6. If Pierre got hurt for an extended period of time, who would you rather have lead off, Milledge or Lillibridge? Milledge is a lock.
  7. ...and he shows good range. Nice play.
  8. Beckham should have had that.

  10. Dunn likes the lights.
  11. I think I'm rooting for Lillibridge. Can't believe I'm saying that.
  12. First nine games matchups: 4-1 Buehrle - Carmona 4-2 Jackson - Carrasco 4-3 Danks - Masterson 4-4 4-5 Floyd - Hochevar 4-6 Humber - Francis 4-7 Buehrle - Price 4-8 Jackson - Shields 4-9 Danks - Davis 4-10 Floyd - Niemann
  13. They gave Beckham an error on a grounder up the middle. It hit hard and bounced over Beckham's head. Definitely an Arizona hit.
  14. error, my ass
  15. I think Ozzie has said he'd like to set the roster on Monday. The last game out there is Tuesday. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 04:59 PM) Anyone think the Battle of Millbridge will last until the last game of spring, or do you think Ozzie will want to make a decision by the end of this weekend so he can go with his normal squad for the last week?
  16. Sox got Gaby Hernandez from the Royals for cash. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=hernan001gab
  17. It'll work itself out as the season goes, but I'd rather see Dunn hit 4th.
  18. 9pm start Floyd starts Lillibridge LF, Beckham 2B, Dunn 1B, Quentin RF, Rios DH, Pierzynski C, Ramirez SS, Milledge CF, Morel 3B The Battle of Millibridge.

When the Sox get back from Oakland on May 15th, I'll take 21-20. It's a tough schedule the first couple months. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) I'd imagine 10-17 in April could be tolerated if they're back to .500 by end of May...but that's pushing it.
  20. Just looking at the rotations of some of the teams the Sox face in April, it looks like Buehrle's first three starts will be against Fausto Carmona, David Price (home opener), and Trevor Cahill. Last year for Buehrle to start on Opening Day? This, of course, is if they avoid rain and blizzards the first couple weeks.

So it looks like they're sticking with Humber for April 6th. Probably better off facing KC than the Rays. How about five starts for Humber, and Peavy debuts May 2 vs Baltimore? I could live with that.
  22. flavum replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah, probably. Humber was shaky out there today, but the Sox are stuck until Peavy can do...whatever it is he does. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 07:31 PM) I hope not. Marquez is garbage. Humber was a top prospect, had surgery and now has a new pitch. While I don't think he'll contend for the Cy Young, I think as a fifth starter for a month, he should do OK. If the Sox are .500 in his starts, they are ahead of the game.
  23. flavum replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Marquez is starting Saturday. Maybe if he impresses he'll move ahead of Humber. Technically, the Sox don't need a 5th starter until April 9th. They may have a little more time to figure out what they want to do. Unfortunately they're dealing with two pitchers that don't have options.
  24. Feliz should start. Rangers are going to suck this year, I think.
  25. Humber vs Garza Sox:Pierre LF, Vizquel 2B, Dunn Dh, Konerko 1B, Rios CF, Quentin RF, Pierzynski C, Ramirez SS, Morel 3B Cubs:Fukudome RF, Castro SS, Byrd CF, Ramirez 3B, Pena 1B, Soriano LF, Barney 2B, Hill C, Garza P
